    Default Duma Key ?

Have they green lit this book yet? I'm a construction worker from Minnesota living in Fargo right now. On May 3rd I'm going to Key West for the third straight year for a week. We get the best view on the Island at the travel lodge. Just was wondering.

p.s. Ill try to write a amateur screenplay for Duma Key after I finish my version of IT.

Duma Key- I'm a Minnesota man. Who is currently working construction I go to the Florida Keys every year to go fishing.. I can relate to Duma Key like I related to the flood in IT. I think the film for Duma Key should open with a man from Minnesota who works construction reading a copy of Duma Key on his way to the Florida keys. Stranger then fiction correlating with the theme of the novel.

    An Adaptations approach.

See I'm a huge fan of Dalis. I originally went to college to be an ART teacher. The Dali museum is in St. Petersburg FL. I use to figure out Dalis painting on the Kool- Aid.
Dream caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegramte a second before wakes, The disintagration of the persistence of memory, Hallucinogenic Toreador ( shimmers), The first Day of Spring, The persistence of memory, Metamorphosis of Narcissus, Swans reflecting elephants are my favorite paintings by Dali.

I meean murals. Life size paintings.

About a year ago or so, maybe two. I wrote that I was going to read Duma Key. When I first found this message board. Well I didn't I read brief reviews and the back of the cover probably a hundred or more times. I always need a reason to read like I need a reason to Like class.

I figured my blog and Kings Board this was the perfect time. Or Trip. To do it. I started driving from Fargo ND. To my brother Paul of Korean German decent. He took me to the airport in downtown Minneapolis.

I'm from Melrose, Minnesota. I work for a Guy we all called G in St.Cloud Minnesota. He always told me no matter what I did in life I would always be great and the best at it. And that I was scared to success. I think I just wanted my success to be in films.

I was always good with art and sculpting was my favorite thing of it all. Admiring paintings and photographs is the easiest for of relaxation next to a beach and an ocean view.

I've always have been using my hands to build an create since I can remember in my jobs. I first work sorting leeches on a granite and marble tile. I use to polish tombstones and make the foundations and set the two of them. When I moved to Fargo Nd. I work for Northern Improvement and did the downtown Broadway street and sidewalk. I then Worked for Roers construction where I always told Bob Kuntz that I wanted to start a company called the Koncrete Kings. I now work at Adleman concrete and excavating where I pretty much can pour and make anything out of concrete. Too the point were I could start my own business.

On the Flight to Savannah, Georgia I listen to my interview with my grandfather writing down 10 to 15 pages of the interview it was only 10 minute of the interview that is 140 minutes long.

My friend and I drove to pick up another friend in Haines City from Hilton Head Island South Carolina. We then drove to Key West.

I got robbed on Cinco Da Mayo.

Kenny Chesney made everything just right at Buffets bar . Free show. "Everybody Wants to go to Heaven."

We caught A Kobe, Yellow snapper, Red Mango, Tarpon a Jew Fish, and Leopard sharks.

I wanted to get a tattoo of two Palm trees on my forearm so, we got a cab to Paradise tattoo on Duval. I'm going to eventually if all goes well get a sunset in between the palm trees on one side and the cover of Duma Key On the other wrapping around my whole fore arm.

They were closed so we started to walk up Duval and I found. Peter Lik Photo Gallery I only could hope to one day buy a print.

    [
    B]THE CINEMATOGRPHER [/B]of Duma Key

    Peter Lik

I'm only on the first paragraph of page 8. It would be cool if Edgar paints in realism perspective. You could get Peter Lik to find Or create some of the paintings. In real life photographs.

    or.

In general he would be perfect for capturing the Keys power, beauty and piece of mind. Maybe he wants to try something new.

On the the drive back from the Keys we stopped in Key Largo I picked up a 2 foot Tiki headpiece made of cedar from the island. It gave me a great Idea to cut tiki heads into a piece of wood in the shape of a staff and to cut a piece of Red Ash into a Tiki head that I got at the 10,000 Lakes Music festival in Detroit lakes Minnesota. The Allman Brothers and Wide Spread Panic headlined. I was a walking , so to speak. I Didn't realize I was in camp grounds next to a bunch of the bands until the last night. When I first got to the festival. I pulled up and a guy in the Easy Rider helmet with the flag on it. Told me different directions to the camp ground. It was the first time I had ever been to the area. So I didn't have a clue.

I got onto a plane to Atlanta. Then on a plane to Minneapolis. When I first got on that plane a man was sitting in the first class that reminded me of Ron Perrier my college film Professor I had to take a second look. Then he looked like Terry Gilliam. I'm a huge fan of 12 monkeys.

    DIRECTOR

1st choice- Terry Gilliam - 12 monkeys, Brazil, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas need I say more.

Looking back at a third glance Oliver Stone would be interesting. He hasn't done a Horror Drama since Natural Born Killers if you would consider it that and before the The Hand. If you consider them that. Maybe I'm just thinking about Wall Street 2

I took a little Cat nap. So I could wake up to a Bloody Mary. The plan took off. I awoke. And there was My Bloody Mary. I grabbed my soft cover novel Duma Key by Stephen King. Now up until this point I have never read a word of the novel. Only the Back, reviews in the front, and Shark Puppy quote more then a hundred times.

As I read I underlined my plot point 1 and came up with the opening of the film.

    Film Opening

A blank canvas. The artist starts to paint the cover of the novel. As he is paints the picture starts to move. With every brush stroke from the artists extension of his mind. DUMA KEY imprints the sand in the picture.

Cut to home videos of Edgar and his family growing up with his business tree. Title credits imprint the film. Why Edgar narrates us threw his life he built.

    Cut to Plot Point 1

    The Accident

I got to the first paragraph of page eight after re reading the same 8 pages 10 to 20 times.

I finished my Bloody Marry. Set the book down and picked up the Delta Travel Magazine. I fanned threw it, when Francis ford Coppola caught my eye. In the interview he said he got into Playwrights and film because of Tennessee Williams. It had his family tree and talked about his vineyard and how it has help ed fund films. And other members of his families rise. Sofia and Cage... etc.......

    Characters and Actors

Subject to change as I progress threw the novel.

At first I pictured a 50 year old Heath Ledger. Which the adaptation would've had to wait. Then I thought of a 50 year old Marlon Brando but fit. Which lead me to..............

My Six degrees of Separation okay maybe five.

I mentioned Ron Perrier he my incite into were I'm at now with films.i would talk to him every day after his lectures. Beautiful and very insightful lectures. One of the talks we had was about him knowing Tennessee Williams as a friend. Tennessee Williams was Francis Ford Coppola's reason we have The Godfathers .....Etc. , He is also the reason we have Nicholas Cage, His nephew.

Edgar - Nicholas Cage with little weight or muscle. Maybe he could add the weight he would have needed for Wrestler. Leaving Las Vegas
Ben Sanderson, mixed with Wild at Heart Sailor, punched in the stomach by Little Junior Brown in Kiss of Death, off his top Like troy in face/off, delusional like Frank Pierce ghostly Bringing out the Dead, Stuck in a funk worse then Charlie and Donald Kaufman in Adaptations.........

Brad Pitt - He would be a great choice too. Maybe even better then Cage. Huge 12 monkey and Kalifornia fan. Plus the intensity from the end of Seven is perfect for his homicidal, amnesic, rage at the beginning of the Novel.

Mickey Rourke- I think with Wrestler, he could relate to Edgar losing everything. He has never really done horror.

Billy Bob Thornton- The method behind the mayhem.

I was wondering if I start to write My Screen Play if King would be mad that I post it on my blog. Because of the story and using the novels actual words at times. Or if I would be breaking any laws. I know I'm going to need a proof script reader for a bit of guidance but I now the direction of the film even if it goes over 208 pages it can always be cut down because like Tarantino said , "the last draft of the script is the first cut of the film."

P.S. I can't wait to see what form of painting Edgar uses. In the Delta Travel magazine Coppola makes a great point, " Picasso spent his whole life trying to master painting like a child."

It sounds more like a screen play for K Hills Adventures with Duma Key, but Im sure you know that anyone reading any of this who find any of your ideas interesting can snatch them away, same as with a blog.

    Hi,

So why don't you write it like that, as a kind of 'gonzo' screenplay?

Actually, khill, I don't think this is the proper place to have a "blog". It is a thread with ideas that people read and respond to. You don't seem to need or even recognize any response. With all kindness, I don't think this forum is what your looking for. Oh, and what amanda rose said about people stealing your ideas----pleeze listen!

    Thanks?

But they are my Ideas. Stuck in the old noodle. You would think if anyone was going to steal them. Why wouldn't they want some of my input. I did come up with the Idea. I have a notebook full of napkins, time cards, chip bags other things I haven't posted about yet. It's more then what I've posted. Thought someone anyone might want to talk to me after seeing my ideas.

    Guess not.
