Default Looking for some order: what next and when?

Right, I'm currently living Cyprus rather than my former home in the UK where the other half of my SK collection resides, so I'll try and rack my brain into remembering what I've read so far in order.

Dreamcatcher, Cujo, Apt Pupil, Rita Hawyworth And The Shawshank Redemption, Insomnia, It, The Dead Zone.

(I swear it feels like I'm missing more? Ah well) and I'm currently around 3/4s of the way through The Talisman (what a great book!). On my bedside table I currently have The Shining, The Gunslinger and The Stand that I bought before hand with the intention of reading next. I will eventually get into the Dark Tower series, but I'm trying to plan just when that will be.

I get the feeling like I should "save" The Stand since I anticipate I'll really enjoy it... it's the uncut edition, by the way. Is that a right or wrong decision? I'm also very tempted into buying Black House for when I finish The Talisman since I'm enjoying it so much. My favourite by far would be It (saying by far would suggest that I didn't enjoy the rest... which is wrong, since I loved them all, but It blew me away) as I adored the character development and the whole psychological element.

So... what next? I'll have probably finished The Talisman by the end of the week. Should I start on The Gunslinger, The Shining or The Stand or shall I look into buying something else as a pre-requisite? Any suggestions?

Black House is a natural after Talisman, as they are connected. If you are able, that would be my choice for the next book to read.

I think once you read the Gunslinger, you will desire to finish the journey by reading the rest of the series.

It and The Stand are excellent books. You will enjoy them both.

    Hi,

Right here and now, you're right about Black House after you've read The Talisman.

And you're also right about The Uncut Stand too, much better IMO and a genuinely magnificent book, and personally I think you should read that next, as it has some resonance in the Dark Tower when you get to that.

I'd order DT2 - The Drawing of the Three, BEFORE you start The Gunslinger personally, as you'll want to go straight onto it IMO.

The Shining is a great book too though, and you can, and should, read it whenever it takes your fancy.

You should definitely read Black House after you finish The Talisman ... it seems like the natural order of things. I would stay away from The Gunslinger until you're ready to dive in to the whole series.

Well guys, I'm looking into ordering Black House right now but it could take as long as two weeks for me to get my hands on it! I will have probably finished The Talisman by tomorrow... do you think I could get away with reading The Shining in that period or would it cloud my head up for the transition between Talisman and Black House?

This is the hard thing with living in Cyprus, since Amazon won't deliver here. I have to e-mail all the sellers individually arranging an alternative payment and shipping... such an inconvenience!

    Hi,

Indeed, I used to have the same problem when I was living in Spain, only worse, since it was before the days of online book stores. PITA, ain't it?

Yes, sounds like a very good time to read The Shining to me!

All i can say is if you start the Gunslinger you better have the rest handy. Can't start one and not go through the rest.
