You know, I was reading a chapter from The Dark Tower chronicles by Stephen King and I found myself wondering what kind of a man is he really?
Although Stephen does write some pretty good spine tinglers...I can't really picture him as a dark soul as some people might have us believe. From what I've heard and read he seems to be intelligent, insightful, and strongly opposed against war and the crises that are bombarding the world today. He's also a family man who has been married to the same woman for many years.
So what could it possibly imply about a man who's head and heart are in a good place yet spins tales of horror such as 'IT?' One thought that comes to mind is that perhaps writers like Stephen King are a vivid and disturbing reflection of ourselves. Perhaps they hold up a lamp and a mirror for us to look into, so that we may have the opportunity to confront our innermost fears and to witness the truth contained within the lie.
In fiction lies the truth.
