    Default Advice on choosing book

I just finished Pet Sematary and what a thriller it was.

Now im reading Watchers by Dean Koontz but ill finish that within a few days.

    I want to read IT
i also dont want to read IT

People tell me many things why i should read it why i shouldnt.

My english teacher who told me to read pet sematary said IT was the best 1000 pages he ever read in his life.

My mom started to read IT on her honeymoon. She said it was just terrifying. She wouldnt go anywhere alone and stuff like that.

Steven Kings rights amazing so if i read IT i know i would enjoy it after i finished it.

I am 14 so i dont know if i should wait a little.

What do you say i should do.
    Read IT
    or dont

Tell me why i should or not
    thank

    Hey AWB

Didn't I just answer this someplace else?

Go for it. A few nightmares never killed anybody.

    Hi,

Read IT, your English teacher is right.

Though I wonder if they'd read The Stand?

Any English teacher that recommends King should be awarded (although privately...you want those folks to keep their jobs).

At 14? Do the Tolkein thing even if you've seen the movies, and definitely pick up a Jack London "Best Of" compilation.

Best advice? Read and write what scares you...and I'm _not_ talking about horror.
If you understand me, or at least hear me very well, you know what I mean.

    Luck,
    BJS

Seeing as how you've already got one of Kings most horrific novels (IMO) under your belt, I say go for it! "It" is one of his scarier ones, but definately a great book and worth your time. I applaud your teacher's choices as well. The world could do with a few more like him/her!

I was going through it again to answer some Office questions and found myself rereading, IT is a very well written book. You start to read and it hooks you right away. Awesome, awesome writing. One of his best. It didn't frighten me, Salem's lot did, vampires always scared me . I would say go for it, my 14 year old is reading It right now and he loves it. He does find it scary though.
