Default Neil Gaiman: Coraline and The Graveyard Book!

What do you think of Gaiman. For a kid writer, he's (excuse my french) DAMN good. I mean, he makes the story so... relatable and he kids can really immerse themselves in it. As and adult, even I loved both. He really has a gift. Your thoughts are wanted!

I have not read the book. I did see the movie Coraline in 3-D. I took the kiddos and they loved it. I will definately have to check out the books because they are usually better than the movies!

I've been wanting to read Coraline ever since I saw the movie... It would probably take me one sitting, I just haven't gotten around to it. I've heard great things about him.

I think the best part about Neil Gaiman is that he has a great imagination and the good thing about his transition to childrens books is that he didn't have to sacrifice that imagination to better suit childrens literature. if anything he let it go wild.

Stephen king - "Neil Gaiman is a treasure-house of story, and we are lucky to have him in any medium."

I just read American Gods by Neil Gaiman and he is one of the few "Genre authors" that is as good creatively as King is. I love American Gods, Gaiman and King are my favorite, and I'll be reading Coraline next.

Well he's a fairly diversified genius who I think is going to be a major player in the literary world.
He has a few novels out for adults check them out. I'm reading his "American Gods", my first one and I'm intrigued. I like his writing style. He's quirky and unique.
He's cute too. Google him and check out his website, he blogs most days.

He is so talented and as Danivan said, diversified: children's books, illustrated children's books, comics / graphic novels. adult books. Just finished "The Graveyard Book," which I wouldn't have known about if he hadn't been on the Colbert Report, and really loved it. In it, a character says at one point "Go, there are other gates than this." Can't wait to start "Marvel 1602", a graphic novel abut Marvel heroes transported to Elizabethan times.

Love Neil Gaiman, especially Neverwhere, which I think is a brilliant book. Hmmm might re-read that one. American Gods & Anansi Boys are very good too. I have Graveyard Book on my wish list.

I read (listened to) American Gods a while back, and just recently read Coraline and Am in the middle of the Graveyard Book - Both Coraline & TGB were read by Neil Gaiman - who, by the way is an excellant narrator.
I think that I will be getting Anansi Boys soon.
And what Danivan said - he is quite cute -

Neverwhere is one of my favorite books ever. Definitely not just a children's writer. There are two books I always pick up at used book stores - Neverwhere and The Gunslinger. I hand them out like candy!
