Default Jerome Wireman = John Locke?

I'm an avid fan of LOST on ABC and just started re-reading Duma Key. For some reason or another, I picture John Locke from LOST as Wireman when I'm reading. I don't know if it's because of his older age and wisdom or what. Does anyone else see Wireman as Locke?

Question Re: Jerome Wireman = John Locke?

    Hi,

I must say I came at this the other way round. That's to say that, way before Duma Key I watched "Lost" (until it disappeared from our UK terrestrial TV, and I couldn't afford satellite or subscription TV), and one of the first things I said to my son was that John Locke was a character straight out of Stephen King's mind. I even wondered if SK had had a secret hand in the whole thing, considering "Langoliers" as well; a group of people on a plane whose lives are suddenly altered beyond comprehension.

Just my thoughts though, but your post intrigued me.

It's funny you should say that. Lost is my favorite show, & Locke one of my favorite characters. While reading Duma Key, I actually pictured Locke as Edgar & Jeff Bridges as Wireman. :-)

saw him as a buddy of mine, the rafinburgh, description fit, anyway. but was skimming needful things and leland gaunt is described as "an electrician of the soul". i guess like all the trades, there's a few bad apples in all, even the good ones, if they've been up at bat a time or two, they prolly hit a few foul balls.

Scorpion22 I definitely agree with you about Jeff Bridges as Wireman, he would be the perfect actor IMO. As for Edgar I really can't decide...that is something for me to ponder over tomorrow whilst enduring another boring day at work

Don't watch Lost that much at this point. But pictured Wireman as dark, wavy-haired and handsome, seductive, someone that Elizabeth could just adore--sensitive, gentle. Edgar, by contrast was rougher, shorter-haired, less refined, and thus, perhaps, more able to adapt and survive evil cranes and herons and whatnot.

IDK if this is even close to accurate, but I always pictured him tall, strong, and black, with broad shoulders and some muscle.

That's kinda funny, I also pictured him as an older, strong Black man. I often thought of Scatman in The Shining, I don't know why.

I haven't read Duma Key yet, but I know about Wireman from some conversation and he is already inhabiting the form of John Locke in my mind, maybe just because he is m idea of the wise old fella on the beach.

And I, I love Lost and whenever I watch it i silently wonder if King is at least some kind of INFLUENCE towards it. I hear he is a fan.

    I dunno you guys...
Wireman is described as middling-height, stout, and dark-skinned and he uses alot of Spanish; soooo I'm thinking Latino. It brings to mind a younger Eli Wallach to me. Think the good, bad, ugly ugly guy.
