    Default Thinking of renting IT

My birthday is on April Fourth, and I've kind of made it a tradition to rent a horror movie or two on that day. However, the last few times I've done so I wound up with films that were, well, less than stellar.

I do know that the local rental store has IT in stock, and, being one of my favorite books, I was wondering if it was worth it. The ratings seem to be pretty good on IMDB, so I figured it would be a safe bet.

Of course, I'm always welcome to any other suggestions if you've got them. But I hate spending almost three dollars for crappy Indy horror films.

Well, I personally was disappointed in the screen version. Not even close to the book in my opinion. But, if you really like SK, it's still a pleasure to watch. Just don't place the bar too high.

    And Happy (upcoming) Birthday!

Thanks. I, too, am generally disappointed with King adaptations, with the notable exception of The Mist. However, I think IT might be a fun movie, as long as I am not expecting a masterpiece of visual entertainment.

Yeah, I think that's a good attitude to take into it. And I agree with you. I think The Mist is an excellent adaptation - even with the different ending.

    Have fun watching It!

If you don't have really high expectations IT is a good movie. the book is far better, but it's not too bad. I can't think of a good stephen king horror movie that you probably haven't seen, but can I recommend Near Dark. One of the best vampire movies (although the resolution isn't the best). have a happy birthday

I really enjoyed It. Obviously it's not going to be as good as the book but Tim Curry is great in everything he does, and it does have Jonathan Brandis who is as also great in everything he did.

Hi, i would recommend renting IT, even if you feel disappointed after at least you can say you gave it a chance. I personally don't mind this adaptation, Tim Curry as Pennywise is worth watching for his performance alone, marvellous.

The novel IT is my favourite and obviously the movie will never come close to that, there is far too much detail in the story to ever be carried over into the movie, but i would suggest you judge for yourself. Keep us updated, hope you enjoy IT as much as i do.

    Hi,

    AWBS, exactly.

A couple that you might not have seen, old black and white ones that your store may not have are Tod Browning's 'Freaks' and 'Nosferatu'.

Have a great birthday, may your days be long upon the earth.

I'm from the Lower Peninsula, almost dead center of the Mitten. It's been a long time since I last visited the U.P. I'm hoping I can get up there this Summer, though. I'm long overdue for a vacation.
