Are you guys watching "Breaking Bad" -- the show Stephen called a couple weeks ago in his "Pop of King" column in Entertainment Weekly "the best scripted show on TV"? ("Why I love Breaking Bad" -- it's posted online).
To catch up before the season 2 premiere, I got all seven episodes of the short Season 1 on i-Tunes, and ended up watching them all in just two sittings. The show is about a high school chemistry teacher (Bryan Cranston) who's got terminal lung cancer and a pregnant wife and teenage son with cerebral palsy. When he finds out he's got less than 2 years to live, he teams up with a former derelict student of his (Aaron Paul of Big Love) and applies his chemistry skills to become a crystal meth cook in New Mexico (they cook in a RV). Very Coen Brothers dark humor, and so much deeper than just the hilarious story line of suburban meth cooks. After watching season 1 and the first three episodes of season 2, I can say without reservation that the show is as addictive as meth (not that I would really know, of course)!
Stephen wrote "it's like watching No Country for Old Men crossbred with the malevolent spirit of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre." I totally agree.
Maybe I missed it, but I can't believe there's no Breaking Bad thread on this site yet, given that SK is a fan? Anyone tuning in out there?
