    Default Breaking Bad

Are you guys watching "Breaking Bad" -- the show Stephen called a couple weeks ago in his "Pop of King" column in Entertainment Weekly "the best scripted show on TV"? ("Why I love Breaking Bad" -- it's posted online).

To catch up before the season 2 premiere, I got all seven episodes of the short Season 1 on i-Tunes, and ended up watching them all in just two sittings. The show is about a high school chemistry teacher (Bryan Cranston) who's got terminal lung cancer and a pregnant wife and teenage son with cerebral palsy. When he finds out he's got less than 2 years to live, he teams up with a former derelict student of his (Aaron Paul of Big Love) and applies his chemistry skills to become a crystal meth cook in New Mexico (they cook in a RV). Very Coen Brothers dark humor, and so much deeper than just the hilarious story line of suburban meth cooks. After watching season 1 and the first three episodes of season 2, I can say without reservation that the show is as addictive as meth (not that I would really know, of course)!

Stephen wrote "it's like watching No Country for Old Men crossbred with the malevolent spirit of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre." I totally agree.

Maybe I missed it, but I can't believe there's no Breaking Bad thread on this site yet, given that SK is a fan? Anyone tuning in out there?

There was a thread last week but I don't know where it is.
Anyway, yes it is a great show! I've been watching from the beginning and watched the re run of the first season that aired before they started season two. I find so few things I like on TV but this one is a real treat! "Yo! Mista White!" I love that young actor and Brian Cranston is wowing me! The supporting characters are all interesting too. The wife's character gets on my nerves a little but I have sympathy for her.

Yes! Been watching since episode #1.It's fantastically written and the cast is stellar. Brian Cranston is amazing. He deserved that Emmy he won and should get another.

like Danvian, I find few shows on TV worth watching these days. But breaking bad is that I look forward to watching every week.

Haunted, you can find the show on AMC on Sunday nights.. I think they have the old shows on-demand on cable or pick it up on itunes to catch the 3 previous shows..

You will love it. The METH show is addicting!!!

Poor old Walt just gets himself in deeper and deeper trouble every week. What a mess. Great show, though. I noticed that one of the actors from Hill Street Blues, Charles Haid, directed the most recent episode.

I have been watching Breaking Bad from the beginning and I absolutely love it!
Bryan Cranston does a great job and totally deserved the emmy he got for the role IMO. The show is very intense and gritty, and draws you back week by week. I hope it doesn't end anytime soon.
