Case 39- a social worker brings home a child to help her.....but then learns that the child is not what she appears to be.

Re-watched Kubrick's 'The Shining' two nights ago. Have to say, while this movie is so unlike the book, it really does have it's moments! Brilliantly filmed! I've seen this movie probably 5 times over the years (saw it when it was originally released in the theater way back when) and each time it gets creepier. Don't know if it was the fact of seeing it on a 40" flatscreen tv with surround sound, but it really got under my skin!

    Les Miserables.

I will go ahead and say that I feel it is MUCH MUCH stronger than the stage version. They added material from the book (which is my favorite book, actually) and changed where a couple of songs were. The plot felt a lot tighter than the original production.

After seeing it twice, I am actually ok with all of the casting choices they made. I was originally a little iffy about Russel Crowe, but in the end, I like his contrast to the rest of the cast.

I will also add that my husband, who despises musicals and serious dramas, liked this movie. He saw it because I am a book fangirl, and he's a sweet guy. He thought all of the acting was spot on, which it is, and the story surprisingly compelling, despite being something he is completely uninterested in.

Watched Dead Zonelast night. It's actually the third time I see the same movie. But you can never
get enough of a SK movie.

I last watched The Hobbit for the second time. This time in 3D. Watching the LOTR trilogy or the Hobbit, is like Stephen King novels--they're like being "home"

Watched Ted for the second time. It is really the best comedy of 2012.

I re-watched The Lost World Jurassic Park on Saturday. It's ten years since I watch it last.
Then I had to re-watch Jurassic Park 1 on my DVD yesterday. Give so nice memories to see those
    old Dino movies.

Watched an old movie called Sahara. Nice adventure. Then, Children of the Corn- book was much better.

Shawshank last night. I think it is the fifth viewing, and with each I'm more amazed at the acting--Robbins and Freeman are absolute favorite performances--casting (though, imho Clancy Brown as Captain Hadley is almost too evil-looking), direction and screenwriting, but mostly at the brilliance of the story. I know I'll never tire of this movie.
