Hello, I watched Mirrors and thought it was pretty good. I have to agree about the bathroom scene as well "Ick". Also, just watched the Uninvited and was disappointed with that one. On the other hand The Unborn made me jump a few times.

anyone seen Cold Souls with Paul Giamatti? He's such a great actor. It had a fantastic concept and I think was well done.
The Wrestler (2008) starring Mickey O'Rourke. It's Mickey O'Rourke like you've never seen him before all pumped up. This movie had a documentary feel to it and it tells the life of a professional wrestler. Behind the steroids, the meds, there is glory but also pain and isolation. It was Mickey O'Rourke at his best and he should have gotten the 2009 Oscar for this one. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
Gran Torino (2008) Although I liked the curmudgeonly Korean War vet, Walt Kowalski portrayed by Clint Eastwood, this movie did not meet my expectations. There were scenes where I said to myself, "This isn't realistic." Some of the scenes in the beginning were over the top. I am still a huge fan of Eastwood and I had a good time watching it, but I've seen better Clint Eastwood movies. What was interesting about this movie is that most of the Hmong actors if not all were novices.
I forgot about the wrestler My husband rented that last weekend. I thought Mickey Rourke did a great job, but overall I thought it was depressing. He sure didn't lead a happy life. I ended up feeling sorry for him.
I loved mirrors 10 out of 10 for that movie![]()
most recent i watched jennifers body what a load of rubbish![]()
I've watched a bunch of movies lately, but the best ones to mention are.....
The Changeling with Angelina Jolie. I'm not a big fan of her movies, but I really enjoyed this one. It moved quickly and had a lot of surprises (though many were predictable). It had heartbreaking undertones, such sadness, but it's definitely a "must see."
Also, a classic, Night Shift with Henry Winkler. I've seen it a ton of times, and love it every time. The colors, the music...great, old movie.
Also saw 88 Minutes recently with Al Pacino. BORING! It tried so hard to not be predictable, that is was overly predictable, and I wouldn't be surprised if Pacino regrets making the film. He seemed a wreck physically, and the supporting cast brought him down (IMHO).
Last night I watched Last Chance Harvey.
I love Dustin Hoffman and especially Emma Thompson (even though they seem an unlikely pair, that is kind of what worked in the movie), and although it's not something I'd likely watch twice, it was a nice movie with great messages, and I truly enjoyed it.
I agree, it was nice.
Something else that I liked about it - no one in that movie looked like they spent any more time in "make up" than I spend, on average, in getting ready to go somewhere. Thompson & Hoffman are not only two of my favorite actors, but they also look like the people I see every day.
I just watched "River's Edge" from 1986. The events of that movie occurred about ten miles north of here, in the town of Milpitas. I recall reading about them in the San Jose Mercury News, probably back in '84, but I never saw the movie until today. Its an OK film, but I'm not certain I'd generally recommend it, but I was curious to see the cinematic depiction of events that I recall from my younger days (while at the time, I was so sick & tired of hearing about those events on the local news broadcasts, that I thought the idea of watching the movie was absurd).
