I've watched Shawshank Redemption and Misery today. I just loved them both.

Black Gold - Sheikh feud in the 30s
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - assorted aged Brits retire to run-down hotel in Jaipur. Wonderful film, funny and touching. Go and see it!
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
The great director Sidney Lumet's last film. A gritty film where two brothers decide to knock off their parent's jewelry store on a weekend when the parents are not working there (they reason that the insurance will take care of their parents and no one will be hurt by it). Of course, things don't go as smoothly as they had planned. This movie has a great cast with Ethan Hawke and Philip Hoffman as the brothers and Marisa Tomei as the wife of Philip Hoffman. WARNING EYE BLEACH NEEDED - The film opens with no credits and the first thing you see is a Philip Seymour Hoffman sex scene. At least the scene is with Marisa which makes it better but it still has Hoffman in it. It's a rather jolting start to the movie.
Excellent movie - highly recommended
We saw Safe House on our anniversary. It was pretty good, the only thing I didn't like about it was some of the camera work, it was THISCLOSE to the action and very jittery...which I realize was supposed to make me feel jittery and part of the action, but made me feel dizzy instead.
Watched Win Win last weekend on tv...Paul Giamatti plays a lawyer/high school wrestling coach who needs a little extra money coming in, so he takes on guardianship for an elderly man for the "allowance" that comes along with the title. It starts out as not really a very noble move on his part, (even though he is just trying to take care of his family) but then the old man's family starts showing up in town, first a teenage grandson who he didn't know he had, and then his daughter, who has been estranged from both her father and her son and only sees dollar signs. It turned out to be a really cute, nice movie.![]()
I know that I am behind the times, but my best friend recommended Road to Perdition. I thank her. It was great IMO.
went to wally world & got in the $5 & $10 movie bin. found Inception, Patch Adams, what dreams may come ,Noght at the Museum & Harts War...happy dancin!!!
Zombie Apocalypse - awful (and I'm being nice)
The Artist - deserves its Oscars.
We saw Act of Valor yesterday. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. But this film was filmed close and jittery too and I agree with Cat about that technique. It may make it feel more intense but I actually got sick to my stomach and had to look away until I didn't feel like I was spinning in my seat.
I watched Velvet Goldmine. It had a decent soundtrack but it was soooo boooooring. Ugh.
And I think Ewan McGregory sodomizes Batman in the film. Yeahhhhh...
