Young Adam with Ewan McGregor. Very bleak story, great acting and direction keep the tension up throughout this one. Probably not for everyone but I thought it was excellent. Can anyone who may have seen this or read the book tell me what "Young Adam" is referring to? There is no one named Adam or any mention of any named Adam in this movie.

Winter's Bone - Outstanding movie. A very dark and bleak tale (Anyone notice I seem to like dark and bleak movies?) that takes place in the Ozarks. It's about a 17 year old girl who because of a drug dealing father has all of the family responsibilities and has two young siblings to look out for. Meth dealing dad has a court date and has disappeared. He put up their house as part of his bond and the girl has to find him to keep from losing their house. Part detective story, part portrait of rural poverty. Highly recommended.

Problem Child! Love Kramer as the Bowtie Killer. Of course, it's a pretty terrible movie, but I knew that going in.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil - this is a documentary about the Canadian metal band Anvil. The documentary follows the band and Lips the singer as they try to scrounge for money to make their thirteenth album. Despite being heralded by their peers and being around for many years they never hit it big. In fact, it wasn't until this documentary was made that Anvil really got the attention they deserved. Very nice documentary. IMO. The moral of this story is that hard work, sacrifice, and persistence will get you what you deserve even if it takes twenty-five years.

127 Hours and it was breathtaking.
I don't understand why The Social Network won the Oscar for the best adapted new item because the two movies were competing and I think Danny Boyle made a way better job than David Fincher.
Well it was about this Aron Ralston story who got stuck under a rock while exploring Blue John Canyon and stayed like that 5 days before cutting his own arm to get released. I happened to have a bad impression about the movie before I saw it as I expected it to be quite boring : 1h30 of a man stuck under a rock, you'd better be good if you want to create suspense. Well, not only Boyle managed to do it, but he made something really brilliant, even more than Slumdog Millionaire was. It has this black comedy touch that we also find in Trainspotting and man, the tendon scene... I'd better not think about it !
Anyway, I recommend it, it's really worth it !

The Switch with Jason Batemen and Jennifer Aniston. Romantic comedy. And they lived happily ever after. Yay!

Metallica: Some Kind of Monster - another documentary and one that is worth watching if you are a hardcore fan or if you were wondering what went on in their freaking minds while they made the St. Anger album. This documentary proves that the lead guitarist Kirk Hammett is probably the only sane member of this band and the only one with any kind of humility or humor about himself.

After firing Jason Newstead, their bassist of fourteen years, the band brings in a psychiatrist to help them patch things up between themselves before they audition a new bassist.

Drummer Lars Ulrich and Vocalist/rhythm guitarist James Hetfield are the two huge egos that are the only real reason that a psychiatrist was even needed at all. They are the reason for all of the drama in Metallica and in this documentary. Both of them seriously need a kick in pants, if you ask me.

The interviews with Jason Newstead and Dave Mustaine (a former member of Metalllica and the founder and frontman for the metal band Megadeth) are an extra touch that I enjoyed.

All in all it is a good documentary about a band at its worst making their worst album.
