Next Sai King big-order...

Every two months I buy about five Sai King novels and add them to my collection. Problem is I don't know what to get this time.

I want to order the books as soon as possible, and I need help choosing which. I only need five, please.

If each person who reads this could recommend five out of the list I don't have then I would be very glad.

Hi,

Well, as you know, that's a very hard question for anyone on the MB, but being ruthless, and picking both essential (IMO) early work and also books that will have some resonance for you as you've read DT (although I think you should read The Talisman/Black House so you could be sitting on the edge of your seat awaiting T3 along with the rest of us LOL) -

Night Shift (my first Sai King book and still a fantastic short story collection)
The Bachman Books (Keep your eyes open or check online for a secondhand copy containing Rage)
Insomnia
Rose Madder
Hearts in Atlantis - (These three, apart from being marvellous books in their own right, have DT context)

I'm sure everyone else will have equally valid choices - good luck in deciding, you have some marvellous reading in front of you no matter which you choose.

Why do you not own The Shining?

I will again make the case for "From a Buick 8" For me this book really captures the human condition. I feel it is very under-appreciated, even on this board which is why I am constantly mentioning it. It is not a long read but and increadably powerful book. The images it conjures are amazing and the things it makes the reader consider really give me pause. Does anyone else feel this way. I say go with it.
