    Default I Am Legend

I know that SK was a big fan of the original novel, and I suspect that he, like most of us here, has watched the Will Smith movie version. I just wonder what other forum members think of the two alternative endings? I can see merit in both of them, but I probably prefer the one that made the final cut of the movie. Any thoughts?

I haven't seen the alternate ending, but I heard it's superior to the theatrical version. I'm eager to see it just haven't had a chance to rent it so I can decide for myself.

Im with u there...the book version, while enjoyable, was a little, how do I say it..out there and just a tad confusing. Granted the movie makes me cry.

    Hi,

Haven't seen the alternative ending, and I thought the Will Smith version was just OK.

What I don't understand is why a great story like I Am Legend has been filmed three times without Follywood ever filming the book.

    Long days and pleasant nights

I prefer the version that was in the movie too. I loved the movie, although it was updated and some liberties were taken, I think that it was still very true to the book. I tried watching The Omega Man and just couldn't stand it for more than a few minutes.

but it really wasnt. that's what made me not like this movie at all. it was so far from the book. there was no inner turmoil, the vamps had no intelligence, none. the ending in the book was a commentary on society, the ending in the movie was just a hollywood ending, happy happy, where did those 2 ppl come from? (the boy and the woman..not in the book) and what the main character had to go through it was awful w/ his wife and his baby yet he kept living he kept hope. and i get adding the whole science aspect i guess, but it was the fact that this guy was just an ordinary man who knew nothing about what was happening except for what he had begun teaching himself about the virus.

I've seen the Will Smith film, not the A.V. but i liked it. The creatures made me jump when they first came on screen. Take a lot to do that. I watch all kind of horror sci-fi films.(2 boys at home, they are into all that stuff.) Haven't read the book, i would eventually like to.

    I second that.

Will did a good job, he always does, just the movie was not that great...

My other major complaint about the movie....the CGI creatures looked really fake. Just put some people in makeup. At least then, it would look like the character had some mass to it.
My first complaint is, THe book is so much better and more personal to me.
