Default This Modern Life of ours

for the we're Working our asss off division

How about a thread for things that we incur while we work hard or hardly work when we are at work? physically or psychologically. How many of secretly get paid for hours of pleasure here on the MB ? so many funny things happen on my job, some things I could get fired for even, any funny stories and mishaps or quirks at work , falling asleep, your boss and coworkers, and yourself of course?

I have this thing where, first I work in a Medical practice, and theres a patient here who reminds me of Martha Stewart, ironically her first name is Martha, lol, but her last name begins with an L, I go right to the 'S's to look for this womans chart without a second thought, and outright address her at the window as Mrs. Stewart every time she comes in, even put messages on the dr.s book from 'Martha Stewart', I can't for the life of me stop doing this.

AmandaRose I work in one of those jobs where you are really very busy or in a complete "dead zone" so the SKMB is a life saver for me and when everyone is here you definitely need a sense of humor.

One of my bosses walks by my office at least seven or eight times a day just to make sure I am at my desk and if she walks by and I am not there she will go looking for me by asking a co-worker where I am. One of my friends/co-workers likes to tell her that I am in the sh*tter. I darn near died the day I walked out of the ladies room and there she was waiting for me to walk me back to my office.

Is there a rule for your boss doing "stalking drive bys" of your office that many times a day?

Thanks for your post I can definitely agree that having a sense of humor, no matter how edgy it is, can be the only thing that will get you through a stressful or boring day!

    Many thanks!

^Like Speedy2 its sometimes feast or famine at my job and can change within the day. I'm typically super busy in the AM, and then I have some flex in the afternoons. But this is how I plan it. I try to haul arse in the morning, and after lunch when I have more free time I am available for the inevitable special projects and emergencies.

thanks for sharing that, youre so right, we have to laugh at some of this stuff stalking psycho bosses, we call mine Sybil, for a very good reason, although shes extremely educated specialist in her field but here in the office, shes got multiple disorders, lol, thank God shes only here half of each day so I get that much relief but then she sits right behind me the other half of the day, thats when you guys are 'minimized', at the top, so she cant see you.

oh you have emergencies mudpuppy? most of my free time is in the morning, its not all that easy maintaining a workload and be here as much as possible (at least we are getting paid ha ha) but these patient accounts have been a disaster at times, some are right now I cant wait til she goes out of the country in a few weeks (yesss she makes us come to 'work' for nothing) the trip 'not affirmative' she says, although flights are allready booked ( we have access to her Itenerary) she tries to keep this from us til the last minute but why, lol.

Oh no, not real emergencies, nothing life and death. Emergencies like "I need those numbers NOW!", or "Is there any way to go through this list of 1500 accounts and find out what the monthly rental is?" Of course there is, you start with the first account, then the second, and then 6 hours
    later you have the answer!

I've been at this job for 13 yrs now. Its pretty tough for them to come up with something I can't figure out.

I am thankful that there are times I can stop and smell roses at work with regards to stopping by the SKMB.
