Default Dark Tower - I'm avoiding reading the last book!!

I am trying to figure out why I am avoiding reading it (have got to the spot popping, pus sucking part so far. How YUCK!!!!) and have come up with the following reasons (although I think they are really excuses?)

(trying to avoid spoilers so if the mods think there is one here please cover it up for me? Thankee in anticipation.)

    1. There is not another book! Normally you finish an SK book, love it and wait desperately for the next. There is NO next book in the DT series!

    2. I think people are going to die. I don't want this to happen as I have become so attached to them I know I will be devastated! Avoiding reading the book means I avoid it from happening!

    3. I have been working really long hours for 3 months (average 16 hour days for gods sake!) and I am usually too knackered to put the attention deserved into the book. I hate reading a chapter or 2 then falling asleep and then having to re-read the same bloody chapters the next time just to remember where I was!

Has anybody else ever done this? This is the first time I have avoided ANY book and the fact that it is an SK book is freaking me out!

    Thanks for any input received.

I absolutely loved the last book. Yeah there's gonna happen some bad stuff, but also some beautiful written sections. I enjoyed the ending also.

It's your choice but I wouldn't stand it if I didn't read the ending of a saga.

I think that if you have been gripped by the first 6 books then as sure as night follows day the 7th and final instalment of DT must be read.
De-tatch yourself from the fiction but immerse yourself in the story that way when a character pops his or her (or it's) proverbial clogs the loss is less.
Having not read (or listened to DT yet) I cant comment or slip up with spoilers but I'm sure that once finished you'll re-read all seven again.

I myself find very little time to read but I do have plenty of time to listen to audio books, maybe if your work allows the use of personal mp3 players you could try this.

Try to hang in there. I shared your anticipation about what was to come when I read #7. That's part of the fun, though. After all, the joy for me of the series was the journey itself.

You've come too far not to continue. Even if you only have the energy to read 5-10 pages a night, you'll pick up steam eventually as the tale reaches its conclusion. You won't regret it!

    Good luck!

    Hi Wendybird,
I can't understand, why you are so disappoint about the end of this story?
The end is very good, than you can read the first book now. The dark Tower
is a never-ending story, that means, you don't have to buy new books, only
the seven. Please, think about my words. I have to go to bed now, it's 03:00
a.m. in Germany, and I must go to work in 4 hours. Bye thor III

    Nuff said.

I know I am being ridiculous about this and I will get back to reading soon. BF has just got all of the DT audio books and I am sure that once he starts listening to them I will get jealous and need to finish off book 7.

Still don't want it to end though lol!

Thanks for the kick up the proverbial guys!

Absolutely! I read the DT series 3 times... right up to #7 before stopping dead. The time was never right, I was too busy, I was fearful of what might come to pass, there were other books than these.... but really, it mostly came down to me needing to be ready to move on. You'll know when you are, it'll just feel right.

    Hi,

Well, need it be finished? No other work benefits from multiple re-reads IMO.

And Ka is a wheel, after all.

    Long days and pleasant nights

    Yes,

Good Ol' Dalglish has his hand on the pulse of this query, I think. Fear not, and carry on. Say not "nineteen," and leave the ****in' grass alone for a spell, and do the work. It is its own reward. Selah, and good luck.

    Okay,
