    Default Bear/evil thing

Does anybody "referring to The girl who loved tom gordon" find it hard to visualise the bear/evil thing that is stalking the child? I never really understood what was following her.

I never thought it was a real bear. I think that it was some type of evil entity in a bears guise. When you are alone in those woods the thought of crossing a bear is terryifing

There are lots of bears in the Maine woods- Could have been a bear. They can get pretty nasty too.

I think it is too easy to fixate on the bear. All that matters is that something dangerous was stalking. There is a primordial fear of things which rend and tear and dwell in the wild and darkness. What is more frightening, the ominous sound of something stalking you through the brush or knowing exactly what that "thing" might be? Terror is most potent when the element of the unknown remains.

You should be just fine if you stay out of the woods.

WELL,, I walk in Northern ONT., and i can visualize a bear quite easily , if fact i have ran into them on a weekly basis. Thankfully not any have been aggressive they usually take off when they see people walking on the paths.

If you truly need a visualization then check out the pop-up book of this story. Really cool!

Hi, i never really pictured a bear, more an entity with a similar stance and build but with no real features to distinguish its origin.

I would love to get my hands on a pop up version of the story.
