King you have to make them make it two films at least to get everything. If you have any say.

He was not aware of the plans for the remake until today but we'll see what, if anything, he's able to do as he's not part of the production.

I came here to check this. How funny.
I don't know why anyone would want to Remake a Stephen King movie that Stephen King has already had a hand in, unless he is Stephen King.

    That is like rewriting Hamlet.

Wow...a theatrical release for IT...possibly? Man, that gets my heart pumpin. This could be downright awesome if everything lines up just right.

It appears to be the same screenwriter as THE INVASION.

The original had a great cast: Tim Curry, Harry Anderson, John Ritter, etc... . I hope they don't turn it into the usual flimsy, blood-soaked horror spash (of which there has been a lot lately) mostly teenagers will flock to see on Friday nights.

Yeah, as mentioned in the AICN story, I really don't see a way to pack the whole novel into anything less than a 3+ hour movie without watering down much of the character development that really makes the story so endearing. I'm afraid that it'll end up being a simple "scary clown" horror flick, otherwise.

    Hi,

AWBFS (and what Black Flagg Said).

The earlier version suffered from being too short and straying too far from the book, despite an stunning performance from Tim Curry IMO (watch him in the excellent made-for-TV version of Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic if you can).

And surely a cinema length adaptation will only perpetuate these failings? And a great pity Sai King would appear to have no input on this adaptation!

    Long days and pleasant nights

Ugh I just read they are changing the timeline too. I think the mini series was perfect as is and did not need to be remade.

Even though I haven't read the book, I remember liking the miniseries when it came out but I haven't watch it in years. It should be interesting to see what they do.

John, agree with both you and BF whole heartedly. I liked the miniseries, wouldn't take anything from it, would like to add quite a bit to it. Tim Curry was the bomb as Pennywise.
