    Default Foreign Films

I've recently been watching alot of foreign films just to see the differences in cinematic style and I've come across a few gems..

    1. Haute Tension (High Tension) - I'm sure many of you have heard or even seen this film, but it was my first experience watching a French horror film and I was blown away. The way director, Alexandre Aja, manipulates the viewer in this film is magnificent. Grade A film.

    2. Audition - This is a Japanese film I'm sure many of you have heard of. This is a very disturbing psychological mindf**k that will never leave your mind. This is the first film to ever make me gag and made me look away. Beware of the brown bag.

    3. I Stand Alone - This French film focuses on several pivotal days in the life of a bitter former butcher as he rages against the world. This film really shocked me because there is a scene where it will make anyone watching feel extremley uneasy. It's something truly horrific that it touches you at your core and I guess that was the intention. To show what a horrible man this is and yet you emptahize with him at the same time. Really good film, directed by Gaspar Noe.

    4. Irreversible - This is another French gem directed by Gaspar Noe. Starring Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel this film tells the story of a man and woman and the terrible assault she endures. The film is told backwards and from the perspectives of the main character. This film contains a 9 minute rape scene and it is very disturbing. Although it is done tastefully and it is not glorified in any way. It is told only because it is neccesary for the story. And it sends the message that Time Destroys All.

    5. Naked Blood - This film really grossed me out, but I enjoy the gore and the suffering so this is my cup of tea, may not be for most of you. This film is about the a scientist who is conducting an experiment on three young women. The scientists son has created his own toxin meant for one thing only: make pain feel like pleasure. Now he secretly adds a few drops to each of the women and then, it all goes insane. One of the women, loves to eat. The other woman is into piercings and the other woman has insomnia. The effect that results from them feeling pleasure from pain is truly unbelievable.

Any other foreign films anyone would want to reccomend?

I think Let The Right One In is one of the best foreign films to come out within the last 10 years or so. It is a truly amazing film. Definitely something I can recommend to any King fan.

I also agree with demorgan about Oldboy. Another stunning film.
