Abridged Audio?!

Hello, hope everyone is well.
I have been buying all of the audio cd re-releases on penguin and although the quality has been all over the place at least they were finally released but today I saw that the Regulators and Desperation have been released ABRIDGED this doesnt make any sense. I thought Steve's views on abridgement was very obvious, I am very disapointed by this. Why would they do this?
Out of the re-releases Apt Pupil and Breathing Method are excellent.

I have several books on cd/tape and the abridged version is like having diet chocolate - it will do, but isn't very satisfying!
