I am studying film and I have heard that Stephen King sells the rights of his shorts storys to student and amateur filmmakers for $1
Can anyone out there confirm or dispell this myth?

Film rights for the “dollar baby” deals are considered on a case-by-case basis. They can only be produced on a not-for-profit basis such as exhibition at film festivals or as a class project. Not all stories are available for adaptation. If you would like to know if the story you have in mind is available, you can do so by sending me a Private Message. Also, Stephen does not include the rights for novels in his dollar baby deals.

Good luck! I just finished shooting my dollar baby a couple weeks ago. It was quite the experience. I too will be posting a thread for my film with some screen grabs and general production info.
And did you get the rights? And which story are you doing to adapt?
Where is the link![]()
Hi there Ms. Mod,
I just saw your post about getting rights to Stephen King stories for one dollar - I read what you said about the conditions and was wondering whether 'All that you love will be carried away' is available? I have a few others in mind as well, but I'm most interested in that one at the moment.
Cheers from Australia!![]()
