Default Grant edition ofLittle Sisters Of Eluria--a disapointment!

I rcieved my Grant editionof Little Sister/Revised Gunslinger the other day. I am disapointed. The first half of the book coantin all-new Whelan paintings, and they are superb, as well as great ink renderings. But with two exceptions, all the paintings for the revised gunslinger are the old. Why is this? I expected 18 brand-new paintings.

Whoa whoa whoa... you mean you ACTUALLY got your shipment? Where the heck is mine? I ordered it a while ago now!

I figured the Gunslinger boards would be the same. I can't wait to see the new art, but I'm hesitant to take it out of the shrinkwrap. How's the quality of the slipcase and the book itself?

The publisher never promised new paintings. Just the revised text and inclusion of the Little Sisters short story with artwork.

New artwork for a series that's already been completed? That sounds a bit funky. Michael Whelan made the art the way King wanted it to begin with the first time. I don't think that material should be scrapped and tried to 'do over' just to release the same story again with another story attached to it this time.

I'd just be happy with the detailed new art, and be happy to get those pictures of Roland with his hand in the water by the lush woods, next to the stone circle and altar, and all those other amazing Whelan paintings that weren't in my all text version of the first gunslinger book I owned, that only had the 'gunslinger on the beach' artwork foldout at the very end.

For those of you that are keeping it sealed...

It has come out that several of the books have custom hand-drawn art (remarques) and/or doodles along with the signature.

I've seen some on another SK message board that are truly amazing. Michael Whelan has said that he did around 50 full blown remaques and a few hundred little doodles.

I think opening the shrink wrap to see if you got one is well worth it.

I also heard about Whelen's little doodles and drawings on the signature page. Supposed to raise the value of the book by about 1000%.

To open or not to open.... I should've ordered two!

LOL... I am definitely a Calvin Tower when it comes to the DT Series and Stephen King in general. What's funny is that I only collect Stephen King, Thomas Harris, Greg Iles, and Chuck Pahliniuk.

But yeah, I love the special/limited/artist editions. I'm only 26, so many of these came out during my childhood and are exceedingly difficult to find!

Wouldn't you have checked what was included in the book when you purchased? why the confusion

PS- I am not a serious collector per se--just a constant reader with all hhis books for reading....
