    Default The Colour of Magic

    Hi,

Just saw (Sir) Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic in the last few days - much recommended!

Some of the subtlety of his humour doesn't translate to the screen, but that only serves to expose the high quality of his storytelling IMO.

Great cast too - Sir David Jason (bit old for Rincewind but what a great actor!), Tim Curry and Sean (Samwise) Astin with a great supporting cast.

And for a relatively slight volume, spreading it over 4 hours (2x2) gave it plenty of room to breath. Although the CGI isn't quite up to LOTR standards (inevitable with a made for TV budget IMO) it's perfectly fine for the subject, and would be for DT too.

Great A'Tuin and the turtles all the way down are brilliantly done, as is the bit about belief in dragons.

It's now available on DVD and is highly recommended (as is the book, of course!).

    Long days and pleasant nights

It is not available from Netflix yet

But Hogfather is! Ka-ching! I just finished Hogfather, can't wait to see how it was adapted.

    Hi,

It's very good, Mojo, also starring David Jason.

Oh, good... it's not just me! He did a great job but I have the image of Rincewind from The Art Of Discworld in my head and it is perfect!

I also enjoyed The Hogfather. It's lovely that they actually made such a long film, fitting nearly every bit of the book in. The actress who plays Susan is brilliant, too!
