Normally I would recommend taking on the Dark Tower books, but if Buick was your first, my guess is that more seasoning is needed before diving into that masterpiece.
My personal recommendations for your next endeavor would be some classic King so you get the flavor of his typical genre (of which i believe Buick is a deviation from):
IT: everyone mentions it for a reason - a true classic that will scare the crap out of you
Needful Things: A classic King book that will grab you and suck you in - 750 pages flies by on this one.
The Talisman: An endeavor that is as much (or more) psychologically scary as physically. Great story
The Stand: One of his best. Maybe don't read it next, but should be read early in your pursuit.
The Long Walk: A Bachman book that will scare you in a much different way than most of king's books.
If you decide newer Stephen King is the way to go, then try out Cell or Duma Key - two can't miss reads.
board to the welcome. if you want to read another, try Bag of bones, insomnia or duma key. they are great.
Well I started this year at the age of 50 ! Never really fancied them, I had some preconceived ideas that I wouldnt like them. Earlier this year there was a second habe book stall at work, and I picked up Dreamcatcher and Lovely bones on a whim.
I read Dreamcatcher and was amazed, since then I have read Duma Key, Dead Zone and I am now on book 2 of the Tower.
I have 'bones, The Stand and books 3 thru 7 of The Dark Tower sat waiting. I have been a lifelong reader but I am going at the pace I had in my late teens these days.
A great author, thank god I tried,
