Default Just "read" my first Stephen King book

I just finished listening to, "From a Buick 8". I believe it is the first Stephen King book I have "read". I was VERY suprised how good it was. It was not as scary as I had thought it might be.

    Thanks Stephen!

Hello and welcome to the board! Ah, but if that was your first, then there's an entire universe of works out there still to be enjoyed.

If you liked SK, might I suggest Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Stand, or It as your next SK experience?

Welcome TimBob! Don't forget the Richard Bachman books, several years ago he published several kick butt books under that name. Enjoy the ride!

    Hi

It's interesting to me that you commented about From A Buick 8 not being "as scary" as you anticipated. I've always thought of SKs books, or at least most of them, not all, as being more psychologically scary instead of horror scary.

Hope you enjoy your next "read" as much as your first and I'll second the suggestions by bopropadop.

Keep reading, Tim Bob. You'll find stuff that will keep you awake at night, listening for footsteps in the hall. Welcome to the board, enjoy, relax and have some fun.

If you want something truly creepy, may I suggest Lisey's Story. Not sure if it's available on Audiobook yet though. This one actually made me hesitant to stop reading and go to sleep. I was afraid I might have nightmares!

(Strangely enough I instead dempt <?> that I was shopping in a mall I've never been in, and in one store Music of the Night was playing on the Muzac and a flutist was trying to play along but messed up, and it became my job to belt out an impromptu solo. Very odd)
