Believe this to be the best book S.K. has published. I think children have amazing capabilities that are somewhat masked by the constant supervision and control typical of childrearing practices today. (Necessary, but unfortunate) Some people just seem to be resilient, intelligent, and brave throughout their lives, and others...never had it, never will.

I re-read this a couple of days ago and I was surprised at how much I liked it. I've read it really fast back when it came out and maybe I wasn't in the right mood or I went through it too fast or I don't know what but I used to consider this one of SK's weakest books. Now, after the re-read I have to say I was very very wrong. It may not be your typical Stephen King, but at least for me, it may be SK at his best.
As for the discussion on Trisha acting older than her age, I agree that she may have seemed older than your typical 9-going-on-10-girl, but so what? I still perceived her as a little kid lost in the woods and it didn't really matter if the kid in question was 9 or 12 or whatever.

I couldn't get into it so I passed it along to my little sister to read. I have a feeling I didn't miss out on reading this book since I'm more into the scarier stories (It, Pet Sematary, etc).

TGWLTG is scary! Or have you never worried about getting lost in those Pennsylvania woods?

Haha I bet the woods near Pittsburgh are scarier than the ones in the King of Prussia area. When it comes to the woods, I would be more worried if I was lost in the wilderness of Georgia (Thanks to Deliverance).

I loved everything about this book. I didn't think that Trisha seemed too old for her age, however there was the running commentary about how she was always viewed as "big for her age." Maybe that was to hint to us that she was young, but much more mature to handle the situation. And quite frankly, maybe it was more of an example that no matter what age, the body will fight death no matter what and try to survive. So instinct, common sense, those two items play a big factor into a few of the basic survival facts she picked up from her mom and her teacher. I felt it was completely believable.

Now, the one thing I did miss was the meandering that King can do with the backstory for characters. While I didn't think it hurt my love for the story, I did miss it. I was waiting for the backstory of the random people who might pop up, and in this case, I expected those instances to happen in the few times it would flash to the search for Trisha. I really value those moments when he brings a new character 300 pages in for a few pages, and that's it. This book didn't have it and I missed that, but I still enjoyed the story and thought it was a remarkable descent into one girl being lost, and the potential descent into madness, at least with the inevitable hallucinations.

Did anyone read Lisey's Story? Not that I'm trying to overlap stories incorrectly, but a part of me felt like maybe she was getting lost in the woods, but maybe it was also the land of Boo'ya Moon?

I don't know ... I thought, in part, Lisey was lost in the land of her husband's imagination and the real life events he'd gone through and used to draw on inspiration. And, I think she was trying to understand and sort through grief. There was one line about a curtain (that I can't recall to a tee) that caught that moment.

With "The Girl Who Love Tom Gordon" I had more of a flash of "Cell", for some reason. As always, there's more than that ... but, this is my quick response.

I finished The Girl who love Tom Gordon couple of days ago and it was much harder to read it this
time then the first time I read it and that was few years back. It's a very thin book but it took
two weeks for me to read it.
