Have you read the FAQ? Specifically, "Why are all messages read before they are posted?"

It's a thing like not smoking in a restaurant. Doesn't need to be understood by the patrons, only observed.
My view of the explanation is that you cannot be overly cautious when dealing with the official message board of a global celebrity like Stephen King.
Most people understand and come to love it...like not smelling smoke while they are eating.

Well, it is what it is. I like being on a board where I don't have to worry about seeing profanity and lewd images. If I wanted that, I'd go to the sites that offer it.
As for a reason, this is SK's official site and as such is an extension of him. If this is how he wants it, then I'm on board with that.

Actually most people aint coming to love it. Most are just going to other sites to discuss King.

The page navigation is at the top and bottom of all of the threads already. |

Thanks Jordan and Ms Mod. I really like how this board is now.

Dragoro -
A forum this large with so many users could get out of hand rather quickly. Sai King would have to employ quite a few moderators to keep things in check if comments were allowed to be posted without being moderated first. You would understand better if you ever had to admin your own forum or bulletin board. They can become full time babysitting jobs in no time.

Re: Message Board Suggestions
Yes, and I will speak from experience here. I own a King fan site that does almost as much traffic as this one does. We have non moderated posting.
I have at least 10 moderators that are always busy reading the posts to make sure they don't fall outside our posting guidelines. It takes that many people to keep the place porn and drama free. :D

Yeah, it's bothersome. I've never been in such a strict forum... Makes for a really slow board.
Seems like a manditory approval of oh, say, a newbie's first 30 posts or so would be sufficient to keep troublemakers in check... rather than ok-ing every. single. forum. member's. posts indefinitely.
But hey, I get it. Rules is rules. If that's how da boss wants it I guess I be down with it! :sleepy:

Re: Message Board Suggestions
Hi,
I've noticed that there isn't a handy 'welcome' button in the 'Newcomers please read' sticky at the top of the Newbies Forum, where it would be very handy.
Would it be possible to include this feature there, please Jordan? Thankee.
Long days and pleasant nights

The welcome button is only on the first post within the newbies section. I'm probably not going to change the way the section works, but I will consider it.
