FINALLY! A thoughtful analysis of this festering problem and someone who calls out the hypocrisy on both sides. Perhaps it will help some of us listen to each other. Thank you Mr. King.

What do I think of it? Uncle Stevie said everything I would say only much, much better. Thank you.
Oh, I did. :biggrin2:

My mouth tastes minty fresh, and I had no qualms at all about paying .99 for it.
I thought it was a tour de force and I hope more people read it.
I find your nit picking on the subject of SK's profit (as it were) from the sale of this essay to be in bad form.
Questions surrounding Sandy Hook, of course.... we will never know the whole story, because the shooter is dead. Be that as it is, Stephen has as much right as anyone to express his views. The first amendment is as valid as the second amendment. I am an avid gun owner, and I disagree with some of Stephen's thoughts, but I still respect them. He's an articulate man with a very valid opinion. He should not be suppressed simply because he has a larger audience.
Bravo, Steve. As usual, right to heart of the matter. Steps these tragedies get revealed by circling & pouncing media is dead on..."licking tears" unnervingly precise. Extraordinarily (sorry, that's two -ly words & know you do NOT dig) level-headed & reasonable. One trivial point, slip of the "pen", no doubt...but figure you'd want it set straight...the Cagney "top of the world. ma!" film is the classic WHITE HEAT. He is, indeed, waving a revolver. PUBLIC EMEMY, one of his first roles and a landmark for him, Warners & Gangster movies, ended with him delivered to his mother trussed, shot & dead.
Finished the essay last night- gave me some stuff to think about. I really enjoyed a lot of the points he made and that he did it in the writing style I know and love. That being said- I'm always open to reading more from both sides of the story. When I was done reading, Amazon told me I should consider buying "Stephen King Don't know ****" by Rick Carufel. Anyone here actually purchase and read that one yet? Like I said, I'm open to both sides, but not if one resorts to name calling and attacking another's view point rather than just presenting their own argument.
