Re: Getting a tooth pulled...
I got four teeth out a couple weeks ago. They were all in the same area. Two of them broke during extraction, and there was some drilling. There wasn't much pain until the following week when the gums started to heal. But even that wasn't too bad.
The night following the extraction, I finished the Tommyknockes.
The only time I've had Nitrous was when I was in school, and had to get 20 something stitches in my ear.
Re: Getting a tooth pulled...
Glad it is over with for ya. I always leave the dentist feeling like Jerry Lewis. You know big mouth.LOL
Re: Getting a tooth pulled...
You're in my thoughts, hipmamajen. I am scared of dentists and I have to make an appointment to have a tooth removed. I'm not yet sure if it will be the regular kind of dentist or a surgeon who will have to do this one. Anyone have some Ativan? I've had some really bad luck with dentists.

Re: Getting a tooth pulled...
Just had a root canal done on a molar that already had a root canal done on it years ago. Since molars have three roots, I'm assuming that the first RC was done in one of the roots and now another root had to be done. Luckily, there was no abcess although there was an infection started. I absolutely hate going to the dentist! Hate it! But, this coming year I will be going as much as I can (or can afford to, my insurance sucks!!) and have done what needs to be done. I don't want to lose any more teeth. I'm never going to be a supermodel, but I don't want to look like Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies when she took out her 'teef'!
Re: Getting a tooth pulled...
No offense to dentist, I'm glad we have that profession, but going to them is one of my least favorite activities. Good luck on healing.

I'm a wienie about dental stuff. I used to be brave, but then I had to get about Eleventy Billion Dollars (US) worth of stuff done, and now I get all clenchy just thinking about it.
This is a tooth that's already had a root canal and a crown, and there's a big old nasty abscess underneath it. The last time this happened, we found a cyst under the tooth when we pulled it. It was pretty disgusting, but kind of made it worth all the drama, even the dentist was a little shocked by it. So, I guess it wouldn't be awful to find something exciting this time, too. (What a sad little world I live in, that this is the sort of thing I look forward to. "Oooh, I hope the Dental Cyst Fairy left me something nasty!")
Anywho. Keep me in your thoughts. I'm hoping they pump me with enough novocain that I leave the office dragging one leg...
This coming from the woman who just about bled to death during Squish Bonecrusher's birth and was online to let us know about it right after he popped out.
Jen, oral surgery with a possible Ick Cyst Surprise isn't the answer to post-partum depression. There are meds out there for After-Birth Blues and you don't have to see a periodontist first. I promise.
EeeeeeeeeOW, even reading about it skeeves me out the door!
Re: Getting a tooth pulled...

I've never had nitrous before. I wish they'd sent me home with some. I tried to talk them into general anesthesia, but apparently they won't put you completely under at the dentist's office. So that was a nice compromise.
Now I just need to get the bleeding under control. Dang, how can vampires stand this stuff? Gah! Nothing hurts, they got me good and numb. They said it could be 10 hours. Yay me!
...shoulda sent you home with one of them curlique spit suckin' things that try to rip the lining of your cheek out or pull your lip into zoo animal shapes....:wink2:...anyway, your plight made me think of "Bill Cosby goes to the Dentist"...it'll takes your mind of things for a few minutes...
