To answer your question " What kind of person does this" A person who thinks only of him or herself, regardless of the impact it has on anyone else. No empathy to be found, only greed. I am so sorry this happened to you.

That's terrible Haunted,the credit union will probably want you to file a report with your local police agency,but they should replace the funds as they were stolen from you..echo what Todash said,just to be prudent and make sure it was the police you were talking to,if you're not sure,you can always look up their dept. address and phone number on the computer,and give the detective a callback on the main dispatch line..sometimes bad guys will go fishing like that,trying to get people to divulge their account number..
