Re: Dark Tower on film getting closer to green light?
I recently read an article that MRC was looking into picking the film adaptation. I read through several comments from fans of the books, and critics of WB. The consensus seems to be that most agree Crowe is the wrong actor to play the role of Roland Deschain. In fact, Roland is a dead-ringer for Clint Eastwood in his "spaghetti westerns". Has anyone thought of Karl Urban? His role in the movie "Priest" could have been a younger Clint. I'm just saying...
Re: Dark Tower on film getting closer to green light?
Daniel Day Lewis fits my image of Roland way better than Russell Crowe.
That said, I think that no matter who they pick, I won't expect much. If they even get the project off the ground.

As long as Javier Bardem is out of it looks pretty good to me

Re: Dark Tower on film getting closer to green light?
Hi guys, I am new here and, well I must say the reason I joined is because I just learned it might be Russell Crowe who would play Roland's part... really? I like him both as a person and an actor, but ... really? The physique is so far away from Roland, the pose, the tone is so hollywoodian.. OK , as a European I might be biased but you know, I thought someone like Gaspard Ulliel (who incarnated the young Hannibal Lecter in the movie) would be more corresponding.
Here's a pic, what do you think? Black hair, blue eyes, slender, but with a trig look about him somehow!
Sincerely yours,
Another Constant Reader.

Re: Dark Tower on film getting closer to green light?
it would be awesome if they do make a movie, but i would hope they would have the politeness to do a series, and try to stick to the original story as closely as possible, i hate it when you read a story then watch the movie to go with it and it is no where near the same lines, or they get names or plots wrong. hope for the best get what they want!
