who should Play Roland

Ah! I thought I was the only one who considered Hugh Laurie. Some of the other suggestions are pretty good too--Brolin for instance. I made a list (with pictures) of my favorite nominations to play Roland: http://ology.com/screen/dark-tower-c...oland-deschain

Thoughts? Such a shame that Eastwood is too old to do it.

I can't see Dennis Quid as Roland, sorry. I think there's a similar thread for this somewhere. My vote goes to Viggo Mortensen, number one. I'd prefer Clint Eastwood, of course, but he's too old now. Maybe Clint as Cort, calling them maggots?

i agree completely! and my first though (besides Clint Eastwood) was Viggo Mortensen as well. i like the idea of Clint Eastwood as Cort!

My top choices are either Hugh Laurie or Viggo.. nobody fits the bill in my opinion but those two

Clint Eastwood would have been a great Roland! :) I rather like the idea of Hugh Jackman as Roland.

Oh yes, both these guys would be good also. I lean toward Hugh Laurie myself. I think Hugh Jackman would be good too.

Christian Bale, Hugh Laurie, or Daniel Day Lewis would have my vote. :) I'm pulling mostly for Bale because he sounds like Clint Eastwood when he does the Batman voice and the guy can act, too. That can't hurt.

I think that all of you who think that Javier is too soft and not scary should really rethink your position. This guy is perfect for Roland. He has proven that he can be scary and mysterious. With a cowboy hat, he'd be perfect for Roland. If you look at the pic of Clint at the bottom, imagine Javier with the same get-up. He would fit right in.

Is Viggo back in the race?

Had to weigh in... British fellow from House is faaaaaarrrrr to soft to play Roland. I could never see Laurie gunning down the possessed inhabitants of Tull. Actually, I could never see him wielding a six shooter outside of a pathetic, attention drawing attempt at false suicide. Bring on Christian Bale, and failing that draw, Viggo. Remember: Roland is killing machine, not an cranky old codger. Also, Bale and Viggo both have the acting chops to pull this one off.

I think Josh Holloway would be a good Roland.
