Its hard to choose for the right actor to star as Dale Barbara aka Barbie. The only people that I can think of are
Bruce Willis
Thomas Jane again
Ed Harris - hell he's starred in like 3 Stephen King movies years years ago so the 4th time would be cool
Denzel Washington for a different race role change for something different
Jason Statham maybe?

Bruce Willis is a good choice....if Jim Nabors isn't available, I think he did a military type role once or twice before.
I like the Bruce Willis idea. I could definitely picture him playing a beaten, bruised and frustrated Barbie.
Ed Harris might be too old to pull it off (but hell, how old is Bruce these days?). Denzel's got the skills, and there's no reason Barbie couldn't be black. If you can't get Denzel, why not Will Smith?
Clive Owen maybe. He's got that rugged but intelligent mien neccesary for the role.Can he do an American accent?
How about Michael C Hall? He's a little young, but for my money, that guys not in enough films (get well soon Mikey!)
I didn't picture anyone playing Barbie while reading, but besides Dick Cheney for Rennie, I also imagined a bloated Jack Nicholson.
How about Mathew Fox, he's the guy that plays Jack in Lost.
I think Bruce Willis would have been a good choice 10 years ago! He's too old now.
He could play Cox!

As I'm reading the book I get the impression that Dale Barbara is younger than Bruce Willis or Ed Harris. Jason Statham? Too tough-guy. Thomas Jane is possible but I'm liking Joshua Jackson of Fringe fame. He's about the right age and doesn't come off as a super action hero. That's how I see Barbie - just a guy caught up in the situation but not super action. So...
