Hey, everybody. I was just wondering what types of jobs Stephen King fans have? I'm sure there's all kinds...it would be fun to see the different types of jobs we have!

I am a graphic designer. I work in-house for a window manufacturing plant. I thought of this question today, while searching for a stock photo of a coastal home, when I happened upon this picture:

(Anyone who has read Duma Key will understand!)

So, if you feel like sharing, what do you do for a living?

I just started going into business for myself as a web/internet consultant. I help people and businesses get set up with web sites. I also host the sites and clients' email. We also do network servers and other computer related stuff.

It lets me work from home which is outstanding.

Many things. Merchandiser/cashier supervisor/floor supervisor at a large format drugstore. Plus I am a soapmaker, and do sell some of my art and photos in card format. I plan to go larger format with my photos later this fall, with matted works. I do other assorted things. I take photos that go in a magazine, edit freelance, and I am published (ghostwriter, mainly, but a little under my own name).

Workaholic. Hey, but I just set up my first proper little art studio in my house today. It is usable now! :biggrin2:

I am a stay at home Mom now but have a degree in el. education ( which is defunct until I get a master's degree ). I was a special ed. assistant for a few years and really enjoyed that but found it hard to keep even a part time job (I worked in the afternoons) as my daughter requires a lot of attention and days off. It didn't seem fair to ask my husband to take off work from his much higher paid position -and as a part timer it is hard to keep needing days off- even from a position that was with the school where my daughter went. No complaints - just reality.

What is a diamond but an "i moan" surrounded by a couple D's? ;)

Well, for a living now, I get by really. I've lost things in my life that can't be returned by any amount of money, and I don't use money to keep score. I love money, I love spending it, and the pure power behind it. But the idea of bein a white slave just doesn't do it for me.

Is, "one who opens Pandoras box" considerable as a job position title? Because seriously, once you look deep enough into the void, things just change. How scary can the dark ever be, if you have already seen into your own future and destiny? When you become a part of otherworldly lucid conversations, that honestly shouldn't even exist on this plane, nearly every day... especially when you have a lockjaw memory like I do... well, you start to play a game that none of the other kids are really playing, for one.

But whatever dude. I'll get up the nerve to open my present soon. (or I'll just let someone else open it...)

Hey, check out what I got. ;)

There's a ton of interesting stuff in this thread!

I'm a stay at home mom, and I homeschool my 4 kids. They are 13, 10, 10 and 7, so it's always a mess...I mean, adventure! Yeah, adventure.

;)

I also co-lead a local homeschool support group. We range between 70 and 100 families, so that keeps me pretty busy, too.

I'm considering going back to school for nursing, but I'm not sure where to start and time keeps getting away from me so I'm thinking later might be better.

I'm a graphic designer / web designer.. (well that's what i went to school for anyway) I've been granted the title "Director of Marketing" which is a BS title given by a D.B. of a boss who uses me as his personal gopher - I currently reside in Arizona, but hopefully my wife and I will have relocated to New Jersey by this time next year. I've done everything from food service, wrought iron welding, grocery store, and valet. I'd love to work from home or at least own my own business (who wouldn't right?) , but for now am content to just have a roof over my head. With one on the way and the current economy, i don't think i've ever felt more distressed. So if anyone has any slots to fill in the jersey area for anyone who can cook, clean, weld, dig holes, design just about anything from Flash/HTML to print, or who can park any kind of vehicle - just give me a shout, I'm your man for the job. eh.. please obama, make the jobs come back.

Until last month I was a Mill Loader Operator. Basically I dug red hot slag, and sometimes chunks of steel, with a Caterpillar 988G loader, which weighs 65 tons and is about the size of a small house. Currently, since I am unemployed, I'm a house husband. Which means I write blogs, read Stephen King novels, watch movies, play with our dogs, post on here, and oh yeah, help my wife more with the daily chores.:smile2:

At the end of the day i dont really think its important what job people do..i think so long as people who are capable of working do actually work then there is no shame in any job. So long as it provides money to pay the bills then who cares, a job doesnt dictate who you are as a person:smile2:

I have two E novels, Marilyn and Destiny's Mark. and Mercer's Bayou is currently an e novel but will upgrade to a trade paperback in April 09.
I helped out on two other books, one about Michael Golden and the other about Mark Texierea (the artist not the ballplayer) They're erotica. There was a brief spat of contraversy on another list about Marilyn being a Christine knockoff. I promise it isn't. Marilyn was named after the actress and she's a very friendly car. Very very friendly. An adolescent boy's dream in fact. Heh heh. Bobby her current owner may never leave the garage.

Marilyn is about an adolescant boy's dream car come to life? Very, very friendly? Is it erotica?

Marilyn is about an adolescant boy's dream car come to life? Very, very friendly? Is it erotica?

Actually, its the first erotica piece I'd ever written. You see, I was hanging out with some of my female friends and when you get a bunch of ladies talking and the wine is flowing and someone drives by with one really sexy muscle car...and I oh so love muscle cars...well it got my imagination going. Later that night with the idea still in my head I went to the computer and wrote the story. I expanded it (pardon the pun) and turned it into a short novel and sent it to whispers, who said they liked the idea (it was quite novel and unexpected. A car that gives...well I can't give that away can I?) but found the beginning chapter a bit too gorey for their taste and asked me to rewrite it.
So I did. the first chapter isn't exactly the original, but it made the editor happy. And I think it made for a better story.
It was a fun little book to write. And yeah there's some horror in there too but its not bloody.
Marilyn was named after Marilyn Monroe. And the reason why I made her a 1958 Edsel Citation low rider was because I could make fun of the grill.
They really were good cars, they just didn't go over. I had lots of fun talking to guys on lowrider forums getting help with the technology.
