View Full Version : FAQ's - More prominence?

Hi,
One of the few things I miss about the Old Board (before the world moved on) was the great pic of Sai King that meant no-one missed reading the FAQ's, and there seems to be a lot of non-FAQng about recently, so I wondered if there is some way to make the the FAQ's more prominent, so the same question doesn't have to be answered EVERY week?
Just a thought (and it WAS a great pic!)
Long days and pleasant nights

Right you are, Mr. Dalglish. I'll look into getting the shotgun photo back in the mix.

I think there might be a modification that forces you to read the FAQ before you can post on the board, but I'm not sure.
I think that (a little like kids, even though you love them)--a site has to answer the exact same question over and over until the end of time.

I've added a FAQ encouragement statement to the top of all of the forums. It may or may not help, but it's worth a shot. I'd like to get that shotgun image in somewhere, I'm just not sure where just yet.

I'm not sure about the mod, I just added a phrase in the template for the time being. To tell the truth, I don't think a forced read would be very (much more) effective. Thanks for the heads up, though.
I believe you may be right, and I'm afraid I'm turning into a web-based Sisyphus. :biggrin2:

I think the phrase itself is a great way to at least encourage people to have a look at it.
Its an ongoing nightmare to be sure. I can't imagine how many times I've answered the "why can't I play in the casino?" question

May be you can put the FAQ as a main division of the forum with its pic. Just above News section would be nice, so it would be eye catching too.

I meant it more as a reference to the futility of a FAQ :biggrin2:

Hi Jordan. I do like the encouragement at the top of the forums. Would love the see the Uncle Steve picture too. So many just dive into the forum and neglect reading any words, but a crazy picture sure does grab you:smile2:
And Jordan, it is not said enough- you do a fantastic job with the MB. A big Thankee.

Spoken in the tongue of Elizabeth Hurley from Bedazzled:
Amen!
I was getting tired of that FA-Q haunting me. Rules are for those that aren't powerful. Am I there yet? Hehe. Thanks for at least making that crap that was haunting my every post at least amusing. Seriously, you don't want me to change my pace do you? I'm not committed... I can count the lives I've taken on one hand, and they haven't removed me from the system yet. So get rid of the FA-Q, or at least make it amusing to me, K?

I love it with the shotgun picture, Jordan! I had never seen that for the FAQ's before so it's really quite striking. Please keep it!

Maybe, everyone reading this thread understands what the words under each post mean (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 Creative ZENcast v2.00.14). But I failed to understand.
I know the word Windows only. Or is it a signature???

Those words are a description of your various internet browsers. Some use more than one so its longer than it is for others.
Looks like you are using Opera

Jordan added this to posts made in this Forum so it would be easier for him to do any troubleshooting. Instead of having to ask for the information when people were having problems using the Board, he'd know where to start looking for a fix or might already know that it was a problem with a particular operating system and/or browser that people were using.
