I'm going to be purchasing Amazon's Kindle (of course after making sure King had e-books for purchase/download). Has anyone else bought/used the Kindle? Does anyone know King's thoughts about the Kindle?
Just curious....

If you take a look at the bottom left corner of the screen (you may have to scroll down), there is a section that is called Similar Threads and you will find the other places where Kindles have been mentioned.

Stephen King does an article in Entertainment Weekly. Awhile back he did this one on Kindle.

Hey,
I'm growing white hair everyday and night ....waiting and waiting for Amazon to bring down the price of kindle.
Yes - for heavens sake I know about all its benefits and negatives but I also know that they have improved what its got to offer. More than anything I long to read as I travel with just that light, free wireless devise.....especially due to my bad vision. I've got a dear friend with one and boy - how I long to own one too BUT the price!!!!:(.
I know quite a number of you folks already have the new one. I am seriously wondering - Is it worth the price now??? Should I take the plunge and buy or continue the wait?::rolleyes:

I'm in the same place, Babyface. That's a lot of money right now. If the kids needed it I could come up with it. But it's a lot harder to justify the cost when it's for me.

I think it is safe to say we all are avid readers on this board, what so you all about the Kindle from Amazon? Have you bought it, used it-liked it, hated it?
I ask dear readers, because I find myself in a bit of a quandary on the subject. My age has finally begun to show because I find myself looking at the Kindle with this growing sense of awe, outrage and great suspicion. It feels sort of like grandpa looking at one of those new "boom boxes" at Radio Shack back in the early 80's.
What the hell is this thing? And why do I need it or even want it?
While the years have passed I finally succumb to the temptation of the cellphone. With its fancy buttons and ability to talk to people from your car of all things! I even gave in and finally bought a Digital Camera. A Pentax K10D which while not top of the lines was all I could afford at the time. I fell in love with the thing and couldn't dream of taking pictures the old fashioned way. You know having them developed-in chemicals!
Sigh....So here comes this digital book that can hold 100K of books, connect to the internet for downloads and weighs like next to nothing and I want to cry.
I like books. The smell of paper, the feel of the pages in my hand is like laying down with an old friend and having a nice chat. It is organic and living words flow on crisp pages like rain. This plastic do-hickey with its buttons and LCD screen is about as cold and lifeless as a Popsicle stick in ice water.
I have sworn never to buy one of those Kindles but then I can't imagine that my grandmother would have a Walkman attached to her ears either. So does that mean I'm thinking like an 80 year old? Have I finally come to that fork in the road which is hip youngster or middle aged old fart?
