Could you imagine if it was for three days:eek2:...the entire country would go off it's collective freakin' rocker:y::rofl::y:.

President Obama doesn't even have power over his own party, how's he going to pull off world power? :biggrin2:
Erm... with respect, the U.S. is only one country. Not the world. I'm glad he doesn't have power over his own party. No man or woman should have power over another man or woman. And I doubt this test is for that reason. I think they just want to know if the system works.
Thanks, Ms. Mod, for the link. I should have thought to check snopes before posting here.

If it was for 3 days, the country would probably never recover from the rioting and looting and general come-all-ye.

180 degrees from the promised transparency in government, the DoJ proposes to legalize its efforts at obfuscation and stonewalling. Since the pressure of the Mexican drug cartel gunrunning investigation is reaching critical mass, this can only signal one thing. Absolute panic at the DoJ.
A proposed revision to Freedom of Information Act rules would allow federal agencies to lie to citizens and reporters seeking certain records, telling them the records don’t exist.
The Justice Department has proposed the change as part of a large revision of FOIA rules for federal agencies. Specifically, the rule would direct government agencies who are denying a request under an established FOIA exemption to “respond to the request as if the excluded records did not exist,” rather than citing the relevant exemption.

Aww, you really think we could let go of all the remotes of hopes long enough, I'm thinkin' we'd have to have 'em surgically removed on about the second day of jonesin':oh:.
OMG, then we might have to partake in personal palaverin's:eek2:...yeah, I think your right, looting, riots & mayhem, would make for some nice distractions:biggrin2:.
And besides, how in the world would we know what to do, where to go, and what and how to buy, without our traditionally excepted methods of motivation & instruction:dunno:...mass hysteria & mob madness would most surely ensue:rolleyes:.

corby...my post was meant pretty much about exactly like what pat was ranting on about in post #506
accidentally losing tv for 3 days should not be the end of the world as we know it...and the govt simply doing another test should not be the harbinger of the same
as for reading your posts..i do...and then i check with some independent sources to do my research...
and so far, for me from my rather modest center perspective, you stack up like just yet another far-right wing mouth-piece...
when i catch you approaching things a little more evenhandedly...i'm sure i'll be among the first to notice

http://news.yahoo.com/justice-dept-details-got-statements-wrong-215322145.html
As the scrutiny of DoJ lies mount, Holder's castle begins to crumble.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Friday provided Congress with documents detailing how department officials gave inaccurate information to a U.S. senator in the controversy surrounding Operation Fast and Furious, the flawed law enforcement initiative aimed at dismantling major arms trafficking networks on the Southwest border.
In a letter last February to Charles Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Justice Department said that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had not sanctioned the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser and that the agency makes every effort to intercept weapons that have been purchased illegally. In Operation Fast and Furious, both statements turned out to be incorrect.

Wow:down:.
Yeah this story died nationally before it barely even broke, but I really thought at the very least, it would have been continued being a much bigger deal on the local level.
I sure hope somebody picks it up the ball and runs with it, besides say High Times magazine, I know they'll cover it, and probably Playboy, and a few other mags will give it some attention (if they haven't already), but I ain't gonna be holdin' my breath either.
The JG massacree was the cover story of the local free weekly last wee, marking six months since the event took place. Article basically says "Certain questions came to mind when it happened, and certain questions still come to mind, six months later..." rather can coming forward and saying anything concrete, but it's >0. ("Better than nothing.")

i know, from all these posts, you really want this to turn this into alot more than it is...but, again, there is no hidden conspiracy to take away guns
what it only is, unfortunately, is just business as usual: the sort of thing that police depts do (with drugs and other things) every day...the sort of thing other admin have done in the past...and, yeah, sometimes these things go wrong...
all of being made more of by the nra, the tea party types and their weak-kneed washington political lackeys who, rather than actually working on our nations real problems, have decided to create conspiracies where they do not exist: what a waste of tax payer $$ and precious time...
...all to feed the egos of dolts who wouldn't know (or are just unwilling to live with) the truth if it smacked them upside their wee little, often hate filled heads
but it is not a conspiracy...nor the end of the world...nor is there a reason for anyone to continue to attempt to portray it as anything other than what is was/is
not that a little thing like reality will stop you...

Remember when I said it would have been worse if McCain was elected President? Here's proof.
You aren't likely to see any of this on the news, but the Federal government has just declared war on the citizens of the US. Obama has promised to veto this Bill, but since he claims the authority to assassinate American citizen through 'executive orders', that isn't much comfort. Truly, we are entering a new age of bi-partisan tyranny.

60 US Senators Commit High Treason in Voting for McCain/Levin Amendment to Defense Spending Bill Allowing
US Citizens To Be Held on Indefinite Detention - at Guantanmo - Based on Suspicion Alone
In the youtube video clips seen below, Sen. Rand Paul and Judge Andrew Napolitano explain in simple, plain English the profound TREASON that took place yesterday in the US Senate when the 60 Senators listed below (effectively) voted in FAVOR of retaining an amendment to the current Defense spending bill (National Defense Authorization Act) which would allow US military personnel to enter the home of a US citizen, take that citizen into custody and transport him to the military prison at Guantanamo Bay (or other military detention camps outside of the USA) for an indefinite period of time based on suspicion of being a "terrorist" or an "enemy combatant". No proof, no trial, no judge, and no jury are required for indefinite detention in a military prison under this amendment authored by well recognized NWO sellout/henchmen Sen. John McCain and Sen. Carl Levin.

I take no pleasure in being right on this issue. I wish my government would respect the Constitution and rule of law. The government was instituted to secure our Creator-endowed Natural Rights, not look for ways to subvert the law and violate our Rights.

Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using their covert operation "Fast and Furious" to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.

you're not right...again....i see no place where the govt is not respecting the rule of law...or of disrespecting the constitution...
clearly, from this directive/letter sent to the dealers, the govt had, despite your seeming desperate wish, no intention of banning guns: the missive was very clearly meant specifically to help track the type of guns used most often by criminal elements, as a part of the whole program, in that area: it was not sent around the country to all gun dealers...it was not meant, or used anywhere else...
now was it ?
and the (possible) noncompliance (interference ?) by these dealers could just as easily have led to the govts lessened ability to track where the guns were going...thus, conceivably, helping along the resulting debacle...
and there is absolutely nothing about the letter that could possibly be seen as even the slightest beginnings of a 'slippery slope' that would suggest, as you continually seemed obsessed with, a plan by obama and/or his atty.gen. to ban or take away guns...
but since you want to bleat on about such things..why are you not posting all the efforts made, much of them rather successfully, to restrict individual citizens rights as they pertain to...abortion, marriage, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of association...
why is that, while the govt has, very often, taken drastic steps to curtail tax paying citizens rights in these, and other, areas, have you not posting rants about govt intrusion there...
or...are the only freedoms you actually find worth worrying about the ones you hold dear to your heart...
guess that would mean that you simply do not believe in the constitution at all...or all the rights given to all its citizens...
just, very apparently, the ones you and your right wing friends like, eh ?
and for the record...i trust john mccain and carl levin to do the right thing far more than i would ever trust rand (or ron) paul : why would any sane, intelligent, real american even think about paying even the most minor bot of attention to his interpretation of what any bill is about ; if it doesn't fit his narrow-minded, far-too-right views, he'll show his true ethics and twist it into a pretzel-logic lie, no matter what...
he appeals to people who can't think for themselves...who wouldn't know truth if it hit them like a brick house at warp speed
the pauls are to reality and real, modern political solutions exactly what that old rag 'the weekly news of the world' was to....walter cronkite

President Obama withdraws his veto threat. It's possible that the full impact of this legislation will not become apparent until the next Republican President begins using it against the people.
