Hello everyone!
I was just wondering if anyone has met Mr. King. If you have, would you be willing to talk about it? He seems to be a really cool, decent guy, and I would really like to know anything about the man with the amazing imagination who can touch so many with his works...thanks!

Uh uhh, but since he meets way more people than I do, I find it a bit odd that he's not met me:eyebrow:.

I learned to ride on a horse named King (and another named Teddy Bear...she was very scary) and someone once gave us a ferret they named Stevo (we called him Beano...I don't have a clue why:umm:), that's pretty close...right?

He's one of the nicest, down-to-earth, generous people I know. I'm proud to call him a friend as well as my boss and I'm not just saying that because he pays me. :smile2:

Hi,

I'm sure that comes as absolutely no surprise to most of us, but thankee for confirming that, Ms Mod.

(I haven't met Sai King, but I'm very pleased to be able to say that I HAVE met Ms Mod).

Long days and pleasant nights

I met him in DC for the Three Kings signing.

One of the reasons I love his writing so much is because of the man himself.

Family man, intelligent, all around great guy.

Thanks Ms. Mod, you only confirm what we all thought him of being.
Seems like a really down to earth family man and we all have great respect for
him and his work.

I'm pretty sure I saw him in a bookstore in Prescott, AZ. At first, I thought it was just someone who looked like him, but when he looked up from his browsing and gave me a really goofy "scary" face, that confirmed it. There had been an unadvertised book signing earlier that morning, but I never found out if it was really him or not.

In my dream, I'm sitting by a fireplace with Mr and Mrs King and we're having tea.

Mrs King and I were having a lively discussion, laughing and joking.

Don't I know it, brownmouse! When I met him at the Three Kings reading, I had a whole list of things that I wanted to tell him while he signed my book. When I actually got to the front of the line, I couldn't say anything except repeating "Thank you" 2-3 times. Seriously. Once when he signed my book, once when he gave it back, and once when I left. I must've looked like an idiot. I should've worn a sign that said, "Can you tell this is my first book signing?".

Anyway, he was really cool. Totally approachable if you saw him in public.

Now, I'd love to meet Ms. Mod! :grinning:

I met him in Connecticut when he was signing DT7. My wife and I nearly missed the event. There were a very limited number of tickets (i.e. an advance purchase of the book). My wife and I live in jersey, so we left the house around midnight and got into Conn, around 1:30 or so. There were very few people outside the store. We were expecting a snaking line. It was very cold that night and we were both dreading having to stand in it until 8 am or so when the tix went on sale. However, before we go to the door a huddled group of fans told us that the owner had opened the door early and might be sold-out. We ran up and managed to snag the last couple of tickets. If the owner was only selling 70 copies of the book, my wife and I were somewhere around 65 & 66. That’s how close we cut it. Anyway, to make a long story short. I got up to his table, shook his hand and we talked about Shaun of the Dead for a few quick moments. And that was that. As the mod said, he is so down to earth that it’s impossible to stand in awe of him when you’re finally face to face. My wife was busting my chops, telling me I was going to clam up and make a fool of myself. But he was just so damn…normal, intimidation went out the window. Hell, I even managed to bust his chops about the Red Sox who’d suffered an embarrassing defeat to the Yankees a few days prior. However, the Sox won the World Series about a month later so I guess he had the last laugh, hehehe.

My brother got to meet him at camp agawam in maine when Paul and Owen went there. This was in 1985 and Stephen was driving into the camp in his conversion van which was promptly swarmed with kids trying to get his autograph etc. When he returned to the camp later that summer he sneaked in and hid in the owners house to avoid the mobs and, sadly, myself. I am not sure what I would say to him anyway...something like "thanks for all the great books" just sounds trite.:smile2:

Does this count?

A good friend of mine here is Wisconsin once worked in the East Millinocket [or was it greater Millinocket?] Maine as a PA in the hospital ER. When we visited East Millinocket and Baxter State Park, I met his friend Carl. Per my friend Jim, Carl claimed to have served on Jury Duty with Mr. King, and furthermore, pronounced that Mr. King was a very nice person.

To borrow from the Unviersity of Virginia "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" terminology, that means my Stephen King number is 3: Dan [me] to Jim to Carl to Stephen King. Anyone else have a Stephen King number?

It's kinda funny---but I keep hoping he would take a USO (Al UDEID, if he does, but do it before Sept.. if not CAFB would be fine *hint hint*)... I would like to meet him but I cant afford to go anywhere just for one reason, It would need to be apart of a whole trip; although I have stopped through Maine on the way to the Middle East--gotta say I love the freeport flag ladies, really a great breed of people... Bye Bye for now.

I would love meeting him! I have hopes that I will be able to one day.. at some book signing in Europe or so... Though I think my eloquence might be diminished just at the thought of seeing him in front of me! He is the first writer I've read in English and my favourite one... possibly one of the main reasons why I decided to study English language and literature! The fact that I've taken "The Dark Half - a masterpiece by Stephen King" as the theme of my diploma work says it all!
So in short, I'd faint ^^

Maybe trite, but certainly better than "Can I have a vial of your blood?" or "What's your favorite brand of toilet paper?". Being memorable is not necessarily all it's cracked up to be. :D

SK was just a couple of families down from mine at my town's 4th of July parade this summer. He was wearing a "Children of the Corn II" T-Shirt. I saw the shirt before I saw who was in the shirt. He smiled at my daughters as he walked past. As he was with his family, and me being the more reserved type of Mainer, I opted to leave him in peace. I'm certain to see him again as he frequents my town for groceries, books and the like. I doubt I'll speak to him though. That just ain't the Maine way!

I also met him at Three Kings. He was very nice to me and told me ahppy birthday and wrote Happy Birthday in my Insomnia. He seemed a bit distracted, but I would have been with all of those people clamoring after me as well. Tabitha, Owen, and Stephen were all wonderfully nice! It was a great experience. (As was meeting other board members!)

I think I met him once In Long Beach California. It was the summer he took a road trip on his motorcycle to California in the late 90s. He was there watching The Night Flier in the movie theater. Me and him were the only ones in the theater. I turned around and there he was grinnin at me. I had wrote Stephen King Rules on my purse before even going to the movie so it was kind of cool lol. Anyway He started up a conversation with me but didn't bother to change seats he was a couple rows back we got into conversation about horror movies he just kept asking me what my favorite horror movie was and stuff like that. For some Reason I can't remember all the convo due to my short term memory loss. I did show him my purse though I got a chuckle from him. When the movie was over I went to look for him (right when the credits started) And he mysteriously vanished. Like into thin air. I went to look for him but he was gone. If I did see him again I would definetly say hi. I doubt he comes out here anytime soon though. I really want to go to his next signing.

I have never met him but hope to at a book signing or something along those lines.

I am sure if I had a minute with him I would banter with him about Baseball.

I might ask him to write a short story about what Chicago would be like if my Cubbies won the world series this year.

Chicago would be a hotbed of bedlam and horror if that happened.

I know what you mean, in reading his books you feel as if you already know him. I think it would be cool to meet him though, but he hasn't left his grass roots and he is uncomfortable out of them, (gathering from what I have read here) and truthfully, I would feel the same way if I were him.

I would also like to meet Tabitha too, if it weren't for her back in 1972 or '73 we wouldn't have known him for this long. (she grabbed Carrie out of the trash) He would of been signed tho anyways-he's just too talented)) I watched his Biography on the Biography channel. I think it is funny that she is the bat killer/chaser in the household-he-he.:bat:

My sister used to nanny ( oops, I mean au pair (sp?)) for a family that ran the au pair business ( in Boston) and they, supposedly, knew the nanny for the Kings (this was years ago). I tried so hard to get a visit out of this connection but it never came to be. This could be true or this family could be full of it. It was enough of a connection for my teen self to get excited.:wink2: Little did I know that at 36 I would finally meet him. Yay.

Most everybody I know, thinks he's the creepiest guy in the world. Someone I was chatting with while I was on vacation was telling me about all the mental issues he must have, to come up with what he comes up with. Well, you're one to talk sugar... ;)

I've never been one on one with King, but I think I've gotten a good enough feel of him from his writings and works and where his passions are centered.

Although, at the same time, I'd probably be pretty shy to meet him in person. He has an amazing imagination, that goes where few minds dare to tread, and he's created some of the most wonderful works I've ever had the pleasure to experience. Other than my mostly childish attitude towards the whole scene, I think he'd get a kick out of my company though. I bet the smile he'd give at seeing a book title such as "Republicans are just Democrats without brains", would be fairly parallel to my own. I know we share the same taste for dark humor as well.

I bet I could make him smile.

Hope to meet him so much but I know it's really difficult, only 10.000 Km separate us!!! :)
I know i'd really appreciate to have a conversation with him. Sometimes, and I think that it's a matter of every King's fan, I discover me thinking about strange ways to look at normal things. Imagination is a powerful thing and it would be nice to speak with someone who uses it without thinking about someone could consider him mad!

I had the chance once. He came here to do research for a book for a few days and I'm friends with one of the people he was coming to meet. My friend knows that I'm a fan and offered to take me to work with him that day, but I felt that it would be pushy. I've got that New England privacy thing ingrained in me too. I guess I'm one degree away, but hope to be a zero some day, in the appropriate setting.

Yes, I met King in VT at the Lisey reading. It was the reception, and it was very quick. he was pleasant and that must be tough surrounded by so many people wanting a piece of him.

I met him at the DT7 Signing, and that was great, again a quick HI how arya cant wait to read the book ya youll love it, go sox.

thats pretty much how they all go.

each signing is an in and out hiya bya. he is so pleasent, and funny, and thoughtful, and makes waiting in the everlasting line worth it.

Who could blame him if he got tired and pissed off at the whining about bookstore rules, and ebay crashers at each line. but he never has that I know of.

Yes, I met Mr. King in 1990-91 in Bangor, ME. I was running a day care for the military and used to take the kids to the library on Thursday afternoons for readings. While I was there with (I think) 5 of the kids between the ages of 6 and 9, I got in line to check out a book. I had never seen what Mr. King looked like before so I didn't know it was HIM in line behind me. We talked (quietly, library afterall) for about 15 minutes while the librarian hunted a book for the lady in front of us. He truly was friendly! He asked me questions that really made me think...i.e...."Why did you choose that author and what has his works done for your life?" I wasn't used to THAT indepth of a question from someone I didn't know. I was absolutely shocked and shaking when I realized who he was when I brought the kids to sit in the circle to listen to the guest speaker read for the afternoon and Steve was sitting in the center, smiling, his eyes dancing with mischief. I will never in my life forget that, nor my life in Bangor.

I can finally say yes I have met him. I was fortunate enough to acquire a VIP reception ticket for the Conversation with Stephen King and Richard Russo event. I was so nervous, and unfortunately was not as articulate or as eloquent as I had hoped to be. I know that I was not the first star-struck fan and not the last that he will meet. After Mr. King and I stared at each other for a few seconds(which seemed like hours) he asked me how I was and in a great rush of wind I said--I'm, I'm Sara and I bought you this tshirt. It was a tshirt with a Grateful Dead Bear with a RedSox hat that stated "Gratefully Red" on the shirt. He looked at the tshirt, gave me the kindest smile and said that was sweet of you and then gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. There were many jealous pople after that for as much as I can tell, that was the only kiss for the evening! As he was turning around to speak with someone else I said thank you for the all of the years of entertaining me and he said you're welcome. It was an honor and a pleasure to meet him. So, it was a beautiful evening and I have a memory that will last me a life time!
Thank you Stephen for your kindness.

No, never met him and, alas, probably never will. He doesn't spend too much time here on the west coast and I have no excuse to hang out in Maine or Florida.

My secret dream is that I will one day become a famous writer too and that we will meet at some symposium, or maybe a social event like the Famous Writers Fourth of July Picnic or something. But, yeah, I'm not holding my breath.

I did have a dream about him the other night. My husband and I got on a bus and the driver was none other than Stephen King. Weird. No, I don't know why he was driving a bus.

Last spring, I was lucky enough to meet Joe Hill at a book signing at the LA Times Book Fair, where, yeah, I turned stalker and followed him around all day, nonchalantly hanging around the tables where he signing.

Good times.

When I think of the impact he has had on my life, I think that I would love to meet him. But I would hate to be just another fan intruding on his life. The chances of my being able to go to a book signing are not great, but that would be ideal - at least he would be expecting his fans there and I would not be invading his privacy. I would really love the chance to say "Thank you."

Hi,

Welcome to the MB, and keep posting!

If you go to the thread in Chattery Teeth called 'The Return of the Mass. Travellers', and listen to the podcast Ms Mod posted in the News Forum then you'll experience the next best thing.

Mod! :grinning:

I know exactly how you feel!! I met/saw him 2 years ago at a book signing in London. It was a great experience!! I waited for 14 hours all through a very cold November night to get him to sign my Lisey's Story. I finished reading LS while I was waiting and I had all these great ideas about what I wanted to say to him in regards to how much LS meant to me etc. But like you, when I got up on the stage and he looked at me before signing my book, all I could say was "It's such an honor to meet you Mr. King"..... which it was obviously, but it wasn't what I wanted to say in the first place.

He seemed really relaxed and in a good mood. And it felt good, that after 14 hours of waiting, he didn't just rush to sign and get me out of the way.. no he took his time, looked at me, asked me how I was, signed my book and kindly handed it back to me. I said "Thank you very much", walked off the stage and stepped back in to reality.

14 hours of waiting - 15 seconds of just the two of us (that's how it felt like at the moment) but it was well worth the wait I must say. :smile2:

And.... I feel privileged to have met our very own Ms Mod, who's just the kindest woman ever. :biggrin2:

Yep. A few times, now. The first in '00 was probably the best because well, it was my
1st time. ;) When I stepped up there he said he liked my shirt. That put me somewhat at ease., I've seen him do this a number of times. He's cool like that. I then babbled and told him I had read all his stuff. Stuff?! What a dumb thing to say. He immortalized my comment in my copy of On Writing. 'Thanks for reading my stuff!'
Love the exclamation point, gives it a special touch, eh? Then as I was leaving I asked if I could shake his hand. Duhhhhhh. I wonder what the weirdest thing a fan has ever said to him? And I hope I didn't make the top ten! lol

Another favorite time was 2 weeks ago at the Mt. Holyoke reading/signing. Read my post over at the Mass Travelers. He loves his fans!

The 2nd best time was in VT in '05. I gave him a Red Sox shirt which he loved because he mentioned it on Conan O Brien and in another interview I read recently. The only thing cooler would have been him to say, "My #1 fan, CJ gave me this shirt". I keep forgetting to tell him my name when I see him, though. I got the best picture with him(my default pic) and he signed my Long Walk paperback copy. Good times.

Anyway, don't give up your dream to meet him, guys. Hopefully he has an Under the Dome signing and a few of you can make it.

Peace, CJ

Yeah I guess I'll post here. I have met Mr. King on more than one occasion. He is as Ms. Mod says the most down to earth nicest guy. It must be hard for him. He is basically a rock star of the publishing world and rich to boot. It is a true testament to his character that he remains so "normal". I have also had occasion to meet both Marsha and Julie and also his sister-in-law Margaret (she lives on in my mind with the phrase "It's like herding cats") Very upbeat and inherently nice people. I think it has something to do with living in "the country". Bravo to you all.

I had the opportunity once and I declined. When I mentioned that I liked King's literary style to a producer friend of mine he offered to let me courier a package. I thought it was odd. Respectfully, people are entitled to their privacy from curiosity seekers. If someone, though good neighborly enough, encroaches on the private territory of someone they admire, may not ever be held in high regard by the person whose notice they seek. A sit down dinner is one thing,...but traipsing through the daisies quite another. He's just a guy who happens to be a good writer.

Yes I have.

First time I saw him in a Rock Bottom remainders performance in Georgetown (Washington, DC) back in the '90s.

Second time at an RBR Performance at Nation (DC again) where I have a VIP ticket and got to spend time with Sai King at the reception before the performance.

Third time a few days later at the Bag of Bones booksigning at Betts in Bangor!

Last time at The Three Kings reading and Booksigning at the Folger Theater in Washington DC.

December 16th, 2008, 04:53 PM
I met him in Seattle for a Bag of Bones signing. (and had to leave work early twice and drive to Seattle from Portland (Or.) twice to get that ticket and attend. Was well worth it. My co-workers at the time rocked, practically shooing me out the door of the office I managed to "go, GO!" :biggrin2:

I must admit, I felt star-struck being in that church, and I am not easily impressed, lol, but just the fact that I was breathing the same air, occupying the same space, as someone I had read and admired so much since I was a pre-teen was a bit overwhelming! :wow: But I'm by no means a "fan-girl" or blindly tolerant of anything King.

My impression (and I am a bit of an "empath", in that I am very tuned into the feelings/thoughts and general character of people..seriously, it's true, I have yet to be wrong about someone, though I've often ignored my impressions to my eventual detriment) was that he would much have preferred NOT to be there doing the whole "fan" thing but that he honestly cared about and was grateful to his readers.

This was only confirmed when he stayed and signed many more books than he was obligated to (since there was a line twice around the block of those without tickets and about 300 tickets issued, and by the time I left, he was signing for those w/o tickets. I later heard from others there that he kept signing for a long while.)

Now, he didn't HAVE to do that. He could very easily have limited his imput to the number of ticket-holders and gone on about his evening (and done so w/o coming off as a jerk by having the organizers be the bad guys) But he didn't.

And when I finally got to the front of the line and shook his hand, I got an even stronger impression of his, dammit, there's no other word for it, DECENCY.

And I've yet to hear anyone who has met him tell of anything different. If anything, some of the tales I've heard make me cringe for the fan who had the nerve to invade his privacy and time inappropriately and yet still be met with politeness.

I got extremely ticked off a while back when I read some idjit going on about how King treated his fans with disdain and was a jerk, etc...I could only recall my impression and grind my teeth (oh, and type out a scathing rebuttal:glare:)

I think the ultimate measure of a person is when they are nice/good/decent even when they don't HAVE to be. He is, imo, even though he could get away with not being so. :smile2:

I have only met him in my dreams!

In my dream, I'm sitting by a fireplace with Mr and Mrs King and we're having tea.

Mrs King and I were having a lively discussion, laughing and joking.
Mr King was reading.

Long days and pleasant nights.

That's funny. I started reading this thread to see who else met Stephen King in their dreams. Same here, not in person, but in a dream. And in my dream he was reading, too. Isn't that weird? Why would we dream that he was reading?
I didn't see what he was reading and for some reason, I was surprised. He looked up and smiled. Made my day.

Haha, It'd be such an honor to meet him, I've been reading his books since I was like, 9. (The first one I read was IT; Amazing. Creepy at the age, but amazing) Hoping within the next few years he'll show up in connecticut, preferably when I can drive, and I can get the chance of meeting him in person. No, but I did have a dream about him two nights ago. I know how creepy that must sound, but we were eating lunch (Chinese food) with Peter Straub and Stephen said, "Cat is always the special on Tuesdays. Best with the Sweet and Sour sauce." Peter agreed and that was that. Very short dream, but I remembered it when I woke up.

Mr. Straub actually frequents the college that I'm attending, so I'm hoping to meet him soon :)

That is one of the things that King does better then any other author, IMO.
He creates a sort of parallel sub-relity where heros are made ant then broken.
And this sub reality, it always feels like it is just outside your backyard.

I too sometimes feel like I could visit the specific place where I could cross over into his world.
He makes his places descriptive enough that they are real, but poetic enough that they feel real specifically for you.

I met him; but at first I did not realize it was him. Back in 2000 (this was the fall after his accident) I waited on him in the store where I work. I noticed a man limping towards the cash register. He looked as if he was in a lot of pain. One of the sales people I was working with asked him if he had a broken hip. The man said yes, that he was in a bad car accident. Then he said that some guy in a van ran me down. All of us started making general conversation. Another sales person asked if the person that ran him down got put in jail. The man said no, he just got his license suspended!!!
I asked him where he was from that that guy got off so easy. He said that he was from Maine! When we were finishing up the sale, I looked on his credit card and it said Stepehen King! I was so shocked! I could barely say anything! I could not beleive what was happening! I nearly fainted after he left! I was in a daze for the rest of the day!
He is very down to earth and easy to talk to. He did not put on the "star" act and say "Don't you know who I am?" The way most celebrities do. He just talked to me and my co-workers like any other regular customer would.

Long story short I ended up not getting the tickets because my husband and I had forgotten to call and order them extra early.
I was heartbroken that I missed out. I have been waiting to meet Mr. King literally since I was a little girl. I am sure there will be other chances but it is still frustrating. Tickets to events like that are soooooo hard to acquire and we were actually going to make a vacation out of it. I had the entire week planned out. It was a big mess. only in my dreams........ and i have pretty weird f***in dreams too. he's always an ice cream man for some reason. only it's not really ice cream it's....it's...IT'S vegetables!!!! organic vegetables!!!!!! aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just kidding. i wish my dreams were exciting enough to write about. i have been stalking him though! it's kinda slow going seeing as i'm in california, not only in california but in the san francisco bay area, i can literally see the golden gate bridge from my back yard. i'm not sure that i could get any farther from maine and still be in the continental united states. so there's that....and i'm all sorts of lazy when it comes to stalking. i'm always finding excuses when it comes to stalking. my friends will call and be like " hey man , let's go stalk!" and i'll be like "oh man i can't cuase i hurt my back or whatever" and they'll be like "oh bummer dude. well catch ya later then". apparently all my friends are jeff spiccoli. i've been supposed to start stalking tom waits for a while now because he's the coolest motherfiddler in the world and he lives right across the bridge from me but i keep putting it off. i guess stalking is kinda like quitting smoking or losing weight. quitiing smoking and losing weight would probably make a person a more effective stalker. well i guess i'll just stalk him from skmb like the rest of you guys. kidding, only kidding jee-eezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...... sorry, nodded off for a minute there. had a dream about sk selling those god damn vegetables again. i gotta go.... some guys are here to take me back to the mental hospital. they all kinda look and sound like jeff spiccoli. The first time I saw Steve was at the Bag of Bones book signing in Boston. Waterstone's pre-sold tickets and books and the event was held in a movie theater. As I was driving to the multi-plex, I ended as the 2nd car behind a limo. When the limo turned into driveway and stopped at the front door, you-know-who stepped out and made his way inside. Cool!:biggrin2:
I actually met him as he was signing the Bag of Bones books. Back then he personalized at his signings and requested name (other than my own) made him laugh, and he added his own comment in writing to his signature. Super Cool!

I've also seen him at a rock Bottom Reminders concert in Boston, the DT7 appearance in NYC and the signing the next day in CT.

The best was the time I actually 'met' him at the fundraiser cocktail hour in Manchester VT he did with John Irving. The event notes said he would not be signing anything at the reception, and I forgot to bring my just-in-case-he does books (DT1 and a Richard Bachman paperback) and guess what??? He signed whatever people had with them! I did get him to sign my event ticket, so that was great. When it was time to go to the auditorium to see him speak, I saw a line at the back of the room and a bunch of books in the corner. Steve had brought down many dozens of signed hardcovers and paperbacks and they were be sold at about 10% retail price! I got 5 or 6 different signed books, whatever I felt would clear through my credit card!

I was also fortunate to see Steve at another appearance in NYC (no book for me that time) and also for the Harry, Carrie and Garp event at radio City Music Hall.

I'll see him again at The Music Hall on December 1st!

While vending at Harley Rendezvous, a friend of my finance's mentioned that SK was on the grounds. Being sober, this sounded like a cool and intriguing thing, but not enough to make me go traipsing around in the mud looking for SK. A few hours and grog shots later, it sounded pretty much OK. We wandered around in the general camping area where we had heard SK was staying (using a different name, of course. Like anyone couldn't guess it would be RB.. probably... most likely... or maybe not...:eyebrow:).

On a side note: If you do go to 'Vous, and you're not the rowdy type, go in as a vendor. The people in general camping are animals! It is *such* a good time! We don't get to act like *that* in the vendor's area! Not only do you get beads for boobs, there are shots, hats, shirts, blinking jewelry and more fun than the law should allow. Of course, we vendors do get toilets that flush all the time, showers, and access to areas where others cannot go. Hardly an equitable trade - IMHO. I wanna party with the animals!

Halfway back up the hill heading towards the corral, we passed a 'rod: trike with a sporty front end and a enclosed body. Pretty cool. The guy was having problems because he couldn't get it off the road/lane/dirt track through the camp sites, and security was giving him a (justified) hard time about it (block the fire lanes and things could could turn tragic real quick). Long story short, I sobered up, brought the guy into the vendor's area with me, spurned his grateful (yet pitiful) advances, and gave up the hunt for SK.

It occurred to me (about SK) as I stood there waiting to walk the rod owner through the back gate ('Vous' back gate, not mine), defending my virtue against Mr. Persistent: Who the hell wants to be stalked? Especially while incognito and on vacation..? Would/Do I like that? I think not.

I have no idea if SK was actually there or not. I hope he was, because it is one rip-snorting good time at 'Vous!

Keep the chrome up and the rubber down, brother. If you ever do go to 'Vous, or Catskill Mountain Thunder, look up SuiCycle Tendencies. We don't mind if you stalk us.

Maybe someday! I shall dream big.

I've never met Stephen King, but I used to hang out with a guy that looked exactly like him. Pretty cool guy, too, in a weird sort of way.

I...

wish.

When he stops at Portland (or anywhere remotely close) for a book-signing, I'll be there, if at least to catch a glimpse of him.

Never met him, but would love to have lunch with him and hear some more of his stories growing up. The stories he told about his childhood in "Writing" are rather interesting. But I guess I am a sucker for funny stories, or tragic for that matter. As long as the person telling the story knows how t tell it. :wink2::wink2:
