I did something I normally never do, I looked ahead to see if Barbie was still in the story... I know shame on me but that Jim Rennie makes me so mad!! And the worst of it is: He reminds me of my boss...The same dangerous kind of phoney guy!

this is kinda like what you did, but as i was reading, i pulled a big chunk of pages back, you know, like open the bible, squinch your eyes shut, and point to a passage...there's a joke waiting there...but anyway, i happened to open to a place where it said something like...'the dome had been in place five years'...not exactly that, something like that...was i in for a surprise, hey? :biggrin2:...kinda spooky, too...cue the twilight zone soundtrack...good thing one of those springy things didn't pop out of the book...the publishers ought to do that, install one of those gags for all those who jump to the back to see how it ends, sproing! out comes this...butt...thinkin of this gag card i bought, to offset the mushy one i also got.

I think that I understand the overarching metaphor, but most of the current pop-culture references seem very jig-sawed and contrived. Distractingly lame...imagine Mr. T playing Colonel Barbie.

The brief reference to Bill O'Reilly was funny, though. [P. 762, the "...half-bald no-spin yapper...].

And I like his show.

The book was crap. 1000 pages of recycled characters. No character development, they were cardboard.
I am a die-hard King fan so this is difficult for me to say. But I hate how I spent $30 on that doorstop.

IT ARRIVED!!!
Hope it's not as bad with the undeveloped characters and boring story as many people seem to think.
Guess I will have to find out that one for myself.
