This is the thread where everyone can come to and brag about something that's happened to them. I'm not sure if we've ever had one of these. I know there are people out there with good news. ... Things you are just aching to tell someone!
Ok, ... well ... it's also an excuse to share my bragging moment! :)
I'm going to college to get my bachelor's degree in paralegal. I'm taking Constitutional Law. I had this paper I had to do with three legal briefs attached. To make a long story short ... lol! I made an A on the paper and an A on the briefs! There was a comment on the paper. "This paper was written extremely well."
I was so worried!

Can I brag on my son for a bit?
He's 10, he plays little league, and I just found out that not only is he an awesome catcher, which has been his position for the last 3 years, the boy can pitch too!
79 pitches, 56 strikes (including ones the batters fouled off). Only two kids hit off him. This was only his second time pitching. I couldn't believe how good he did.
Now the coach is changing his position a little...he will still catch, but he's also going to be the closing pitcher.
I am so proud of him!

Hi,
Congrats, Kitten, that's great, and I know just how hard it is for an adult to return to education. Well done!
Regarding the socks - I solved this many years ago by buying a lot of pairs of identical socks. I only ever have the obligatory one odd sock (he said smugly); it was the hell of attempting to match up the kids socks that drove me to this epiphany.

Aww, spideyman. I saw your avatar and thought you'd have somethin fun to brag about. I got excited.
Here, lemme do my thing...
No matter what a person thinks they can do to push me down, it doesn't work. It's impossible, because I just won't look at it when you're pushing, and won't make a deal out of it at all. Then, in some nonchalant way, I'll talk about something I wanted to talk about anyways, and they'll be pushed down by it in some way. It's nothing to anyone if they're not stand-offish to begin with, really. But someone who busts in the scene trying to one up an individual like myself, just ends up getting themselves burned.
I'm not saying I'm infallible, but what I'm saying is, pretending and trying to prove you're the boss around me is just gonna make me pull some move on you just using my instincts, or predestination maybe, to sweat you away. I don't care if you're a millionaire in front of me bragging about buying another laptop from walmart on your return trip up to Canada, I'm gonna make the guy behind the counter that could probably never afford that laptop to begin with, feel better as a human being after you've walked away. I'm gentle though, and unless someone deserves it I don't throw it at their face, intentionally trying to destroy what they feel is their power, when all in all what they're bragging about, or feeling makes them so special by being able to climb on top, really only proves they're climbing on top of a little pile, that I'm not really interested in.
Thanks for your investment, but don't you have someone else to abuse with how much cooler you think you are than me, and whoever else you were showing off to?
Hehe, yes, I do think I'm special. =o)
Other than that, I put about 50,000 emulated Read Only Memory (ROM) cartridge images on every xbox that touches my hands. Up for a little Sonic 2 honey? Or didn't you play video games as a pup?

Everyone likes to brag, no exception here. Well, I've had the highest productivity index in my department for the 2nd year now (about 50 people in my department). I went to the boss yesterday requesting a merit raise, but he says I'm already fairly compensated. He said he would take it up the chain, but that doesn't look good for me. Keeping my fingers crossed.

My bragging moment:
My oldest daughter goes to a private Catholic high school because we live in the city and the city public schools aren't that great. She is a freshman this year and had received a partial scholarship for art so that she could attend. Well, each year they have to re-apply for their scholarships. We got the packet from the school on Monday that included next years billing and her scholarship information. Well the tuition for next year went up. My heart dropped, because even with half paid by scholarship that would be very very hard for us to pay for (our youngest daughter is also in a private grade school). Well, I looked at her scholarship information. Because of all her hard work this past year, and her talent, her tuition is will be PAID IN FULL!!!!! Her art teacher and the head of the art department said that they haven't had a student with such natural ability in years. They are amazed by her talent. :biggrin2:

Very nice Spidey! You have a very noble position where you can contribute in such a nice way. Thank you.
I wish I could have something as rewarding on a personal level like that. I don't have too much to brag about. I guess along the same lines as these academic feats, my high school team won the best design in the nation in an engineering challenge. That steered me towards engineering... the whole "maybe this is something I'd be good at" thing. I've been designing microchips for over 10 years now that go in a variety of everyday useful items such as automobiles, cell phones, computers, kids toys, etc... It is kind of a nice feeling. I don't brag about these things - but in a geeky way at least I think it is cool. :biggrin2:
I am sure the thing I will brag most about going forward is my boy. :) The first time he gets a base hit, and A on a test, etc...

My husband has probably 40 pairs of white socks, of which probably 37 pairs are unique. He is supposed to start traveling for work. The first time he is out of town, I'm throwing out or donating all his old socks and buying 20 ankle socks and 20 long socks. When he gets back he will complain about the waste, but by then it will be a fait accompli. I don't know if I can explain clearly enough how very much I am looking forward to this happening.
Oh, bragging! In a few weeks we will be moving in with my in-laws so that we can save tons of money over the next few years (and help them redo their house in the meantime). Then we will build a house!

I am pretty low key and humble for the most part. I guess if I was to brag it would be that I have a huge house (5000 sq. feet) with lots of toys (swimming pool, hot tub, roman tub in the master bathroom, 3 car garage, 5 acres of property). 5 bathrooms seems rather ridiculous, but it is funny how you get used to it. The fact it will be paid off in 6 years is also pretty sweet considering my age.

These have been more along the lines of statements of fact. You all apparently have brilliant children and, in Shasta's case, amazingly agile bodies... Clever and witty minds... That's not bragging people, that's just telling it like it is. :grinning: I cook really good banana-bread.
Your absolutely correct, I wasn't bragging...not even trying...I can be a bit of a slacker sometimes:down:.
~My buttermilk biscuits come out totally perfect and mouth watering delicious EACH & EVERY SINGLE TIME...it's nothing short of gastronomically amazing is what I'm sayin'!!!
Jellies and jams practically jump out of the jar and the butter churns itself, just to hitch a short lived ride, they are just that scrumptious!~
Now that's right proper braggin'!
Hear Hear...Biscuits (and jelly) for me and all my men...yeah yeah and women:wink2:!

Kitten
That's wonderful Kitten all your hard work paid off! It's not easy getting "A"s. I wish you much success in your future endeavors.
I hope you don't mind if I brag a "little" as I don't get much of a chance to do that. I have two Associate Degrees, one Bachelor of Arts degree and one Master of Science degree. I am certified as: a history teacher, school librarian, electronics teacher and educational supervisor (sometimes I think I am certifiable). I served in a vocational school district for twenty years. I am medically retired from teaching.
I also served in the Active Duty Air Force (twelve and a half years), Air Force Reserves (two years) and New Jersey Air National Guard (eleven and a half) years. I retired from the military in 2000 with 26 years of service. A highlight of my Air Force career was being a passenger on a KC-135 refueler and watching an F-16 refueled in flight.
I am not a writer and did not make this stuff up. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Hi,
Congrats, Kitten, that's great, and I know just how hard it is for an adult to return to education. Well done!
Regarding the socks - I solved this many years ago by buying a lot of pairs of identical socks. I only ever have the obligatory one odd sock (he said smugly); it was the hell of attempting to match up the kids socks that drove me to this epiphany.
Long days and pleasant nights
Thanks John! You're very smart. lots of identical socks. I'll have to try that! :)

:biggrin2:

Not only can I dance realllllllllly well, but I'm not afraid to do it in front of anybody in the universe, and I'm usually the one that sets the heartbeat on the dance floor, just cause of how much fun I have with it.
The downside though, would be that I only like to do it alone really, when I'm dancing I'm enjoying the way it makes me feel so much that I just slip into my own world completely. That, and the way I dance is too energetic and forceful to dance with another. I've never grinded with a girl in my life, because that's just not how I learned to dance, or the reason I'm moving like I do when I'm out on the floor. When I dance, it's much more animal than sexual, although I do retain all my class throughout.
I do consider this something that's bragworthy, because without people doin it like I do, everybody would be to scared of what others think of them to even set foot on that floor. I make it damn well known that I don't care in the least about that stuff, and if I like the way you move too, you'll know it by my natural reaction to it, and playful gestures taunting you to come forward and have more fun with it.

Hi,
OK, off topic, but banana bread is an invention that hasn't crossed the pond yet.
Could you give a recipe please, it sounds great.
Long days and pleasant nights
This isn't my recipe, I found it in an old Joy of Cooking cookbook, and it's my favorite.
Quick banana bread
Have all ingredients at room temp.
Preheat oven to 350
sift together: 1 3/4 cups flour, 2 1/4 tsp double-acting baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt
Blend until creamy: 1/3 cup shortening, 2/3 cup sugar, 3/4 tsp grated lemon rind
beat in: 1 to 2 beaten eggs, 1 to 1 1/4 cups ripe banana pulp (the older the bananas, the better)
add the sifted ingredients in 3 parts to the sugar mixture. beat the batter after each addition until smooth.
Fold in (optional): 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, 1/4 cup craisins or other dried fruit
Pour batter into greased bread pan. Bake about 1 hour.

A superintendent my son met at a job fair was very impressed with my son. The superintendent kept contacting my son about a position. My son decided to apply and interview for the position. He is now the district technology coordinator and takes care of all the schools computers. He also aspires to be a principal and just completed his first graduate course toward that end.
I'm also braggin' about our daughter-in-law. She used to work full time for a casino. Now she's a part-time employee there. She works full time as a computer lab assistant in the same school district as my son. I admire her stamina. My husband and I are proud of both of them.

I'm 33 and so far don't look it, but it's catching up, the guesstimation gap is narrowing when it comes to my age.
Grew up in a 980 sq ft house with six other people and survived, that was fun, still have marks on my elbows.
Have two very creative daughters, had my eldest when I was twenty (she was 10lbs and I wasn't much bigger either) and managed to do an ok job as a single mother until I met my husband, and became respectable (kidding!). Had another daughter (2.5 years old) who I suspect has 'Animal' from the Muppets DNA, crazy kid.
Came over to the U.S. last year with nearly $2,000.00, 2 kids, 2 Apple Computers (eMac & G4), 4 changes of clothes, and a packet of teabags - landed a job two weeks after we came here, not quite an Ellis Island story but as close as you'll get in this day and age. I don't do things by halves and never have. That's about it really.

Then you help take a shift feeding him cause Mommy is "right out straight" - sorry, northern Maine dialect. You feed him, comfort him, and pat him firmly between the shoulder blades until he is curled into a little ball on your chest. Then you rub the tip of your nose across the top of his fuzzy head - all the while inhaling that sweet baby smell. It just makes you forget about the interruption in your rem pattern. You finally realize - there is more here than just me! :smile2: So ya... proud Papa. It was a long time coming and I'm not apologizing just the same. :wink2:

Came over to the U.S. last year with nearly $2,000.00, 2 kids, 2 Apple Computers (eMac & G4), 4 changes of clothes, and a packet of teabags - landed a job two weeks after we came here, not quite an Ellis Island story but as close as you'll get in this day and age. I don't do things by halves and never have. That's about it really.

Blackeye, the baby is beautiful... And I know what you mean about the zero dark thirty bonding moments... Although my husband didn't have the joy of them...

Hehe, I had a keygen program by a company called, "ACME". It had a Pinky and the Brain theme to the keygen.
I love Keygen programs, cause they need to be tiny, but they want to make them classy, so they add those oldschool 'commodore 64' type MIDI music to them. But this one was extra special. It had the theme song to Pinky and the Brain running through it, and when you hit the "go" button (with The Brain's hand mind you), it would patch your software and set you up golden.
Course, the problem with using a keygen, is that you get the key for that specific version, and it can never go online to check to see if there's a new version out, cause it knows you've manipulated the program.
Here's the ACME logo included...

Peeeling shirts covered with sweat off my body and needing a dry towel just to continue the dance.

So did he like wearing the antlers?
Or did you have to strap them around his head so he wouldn't shake them off?

This is my bragging... http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd258/borninsin4/striderxmas.jpg He is my pride and joy. His name is Strider and he is 10 months old now, getting to be a big boy. I lost my last dog a little over a year ago and was quite reluctant to get another but the fiance was itching and I found him less than a mile from my house. He has just been the best thing for me, I look forward to going home and playing with him. He is so smart and picks up so quick! I love him

I've been writing a fantasy trilogy for eleven long years and last weekend, I finished the third book. Finally, at long last my story has an ending. And it's one I'm happy with. For now anyway.
Now I have to go back and edit Book 1 again. And there are some parts of Book 2 that could use a little work....

Cute dog.
So did he like wearing the antlers?
Or did you have to strap them around his head so he wouldn't shake them off?
Did you have to say, "Listen Bub, you're wearing these antlers whether you like it or not! Hey, get back here! Honey, get the camera ready..."
Actually no He LOVES to wear them, when he sees them he will carry the antlers in his mouth until you put them on and then he roams around the house all big and strutting his stuff. Its so hilarious!

Thanks everyone, I can not tell you the joy and love he has given me. You can't tell in the photo but he has one blue eye and one brown and I swear they have different personalities! I just rescued a Standard Poodle last week she is a bit timid right now, a little different than I am use to, I have only had Sib. Huskies my whole life. I will show you pics when I can get her to stay still long enough and a nice groom.

Okay, what can I brag about....I've made over 35 videos in less than 4 months, (in Duma Key, what does SK call it when you find something you are good at later in life, like Edgar and his art; then go wild and churn out dozens of projects one right after the other--that's me) have written 2 full length novels, pushed out one kid who didn't want to leave the womb, and haven't had a drink in 8 years...that is good enough for now, I think! :smile2:

I wanna brag about a new addition to our little family: a new doggy!!
I'll add a photo later, because he's so movable and I haven't been able to get a decent picture...
His name is Toby, and he's 5 months old. We got him at an animal shelter. An old man who has rheumatism couldn't take care of him...Really sad how people can just ditch animals like that...
But we are happy with him and that's what's most important!

I haven't. I had to fill out this big long questionnaire about what I have done for animal rights. Fortunately it was a lot! My boy gave me a great father's day present. For the first time he rolled from his stomach to his back. Multiple times... maybe 8 times. He had never done it before and did it on Father's day. :) He is 2 months old, so things like this are a big deal at this point. Not sure how much this is something to brag about, but it sure made me feel great - that is to see him learn and retain the mechanics necessary to roll over. :)

Well the first time yes. It was more because he got stuck half way and didn't know what was going on I think. He twisted the hips and threw the anchor back, but he has a hard time tucking in the arm. But after he got the hang of it he seemed to wonder less. :) Can't wait for him to go in the opposite sense - from back to stomach. I have a sony handycam where I record all these things. I never realized I was so good at play-by-play. My wife laughs at least. :)
