I forgot to mention, I closed with one of my favorite SK quotes: "The most important things are the hardest things to say. They are the things you get ashamed of because words diminish your feelings—words shrink things that seem timeless when they are in your head to no more than living size when they are brought out."

Come Come Come On, Ya Gotta Fill Me Up! -- Nine Inch Nails / Last
My soul is a container that really understands how to enjoy the world. When a breeze hits me, it comforts me in ways nothing else could. When I meet a new friend, I click in ways that instantly warms me. I can talk about what they like, I understand it and I enjoy it too. I can sympathize with anyone, and if you're someone I enjoy, I just fall in with. I've honestly been so beaten by life, that I do whatever is in my power to prevent that pain from befalling anyone. If someone says something, and there's that dead silence in the air, where everyone is contemplating what they hate about what someone said, I know how to say a few words that will add pillows to everyones minds listening. Kind of like stopping a fight. "You think that way, he thinks that way, but my humanity tells me this part is silly!" Stuff like that.
I love all dogs, and I have more fun with them than most people. They're simple, they know how to play, and they're willing to do anything they consider fun, which is most everything.
I know loving dogs isn't something to brag about, but if my soul was captured by a higher power, and then used to do its bidding, if its bidding was making a dog-mentality creature happy, then it would be my predestined nature. I would do it regardless of the situation, because it's what I wanted anyways. But to me it's bragging. I'll do anything in my power to make sure everything is comfortable for everyone involved. And I'm evolving every day with this, too. If you don't like what I like, that's fine. You like something I like. And I know allllllll about what's worth it in it.
Damn, the Blue Angels are loud. Friggin noise makers on those engines. Oh, and I'm above the arch angels. Not that I'm stronger, or better or worth more than them. Just... at least this time, I'm the one designed to take their charge. And I can dance like the wildest of spirits too. Trainings almost over. Here pup... Come to me. Let's make this washout worth it. Wadda ya say?

I have a varsity patch, and three pins, for my 'High School Varsity Hockey Team'. Usually you don't get your patch your freshman year, but I got lucky. So the first year I got the patch, then the next three, each year, I got a pin.
Yaaaayyyyyyyyyy!!!
I played defense by the way, and I loved how the coach would tell us, "One of the defense needs to play the body. The other can swing in and pick up the puck."
Playing the body was the best! They'd be making a good break away and speeding down the ice towards you, and you'd be skating backwards, keeping right up with them, acting like you were going to swat at the puck with your stick, but then you'd cut the ice and bend your force forward and slam into them like an automobile accident, keeping your shoulder low and knees tight while pushing up. You could get 'em airborne no problem, and sometimes it took 'em a bit to get up after. :)

Very nice Mstay! That is a LOT of work. At the risk of losing my man card... I know, I made a quilt once. :D I had to take "home economics" my senior year of high school because I got kicked out of art class. It was the only way I could graduate. But interestingly enough, I enjoyed that class so much. I made a ton of good food. And my quilt stayed with me through college. Then it got too tough to keep together. :) And I was the only guy in the class, so I got a lot of attention. :biggrin2:

I have all my teeth, and none of them are crooked. And I've ground thick ravines into them over the years, so I have no problems crushing food up like a jagged mortar and pestle would.
I've owned five dogs, and about twenty-five cats in my lifetime too. I remember them all. And many were the kindest sweetest creatures you could own. One of my cats, our first cat that lived with us actually, was one we picked up as a kitten, named "Coco". She was a total warrior. A black and brown natural colored tiger-striped little thing. She brought her family some kind of deceased creature that was her prey, nearly every morning like clockwork. Everything from snakes to fat mice to baby squirrels. She lived to be about 14, and had a really wonderful life.
We've never had a litter once though. Both male and female animals were always fixed, as soon as they were able to be. The kennel was always full, so we felt no reason to overpopulate the world with babies we couldn't protect.
A friend of mine moved over here from Bulgaria. Times were so tough when she was young, when her uncle eventually got a cat in his apartment, she saw one for the first time in her life. When she got to America, she saw her first dog. I have a hard enough time with this planet without that issue.
So I don't mind putting my animals in the bragging thread.

My 10 year old son who does Rodeo, Baseball and Basketball loves the sport of Football and wanted to try it this year. We signed him up and the coaches (who knew he rides bulls) were ecstatic from day one and have just raved about him in practice. Since he had never played organized Football, I did not know what to expect. Before the power outage last week, he had his first game.
He carried the ball four times for 223 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He was breaking tackles and stiff-arming kids into the grass as he went down field. I was so proud of him as Football has become his favorite sport. He has already started to talk about which college he will play for....lol.

I don't think I mentioned this, but I am on week three (I think) of not drinking Diet Coke every day. I don't know whether it has to do with me eating more, eating more bad stuff, or the effect of aspartame on my insulin levels (insulin controls fat storage), but it seems that the more Diet Coke I drink, the fatter I get. So I've had maybe four glasses of pop (soda for you funny talkers) in the past three weeks. With that and my oatmeal for brekkie, I've lost about three pounds.

Oh, great... I knew I shouldn't check in here. I'm starting to feel inadequate again. Now I have to go do something productive that I can brag about. Laundry? Oatmeal? Shrinky dinks? :eek2: I was considering it a major accomplishment that I got out of my p-jammies this morning.
I know what you mean.
AngelZ
October 10th, 2008, 08:10 AM
That's very efficient, though. One load of laundry, and you get three brags out of it! :wink2:
I don't think I mentioned this, but I am on week three (I think) of not drinking Diet Coke every day. I don't know whether it has to do with me eating more, eating more bad stuff, or the effect of aspartame on my insulin levels (insulin controls fat storage), but it seems that the more Diet Coke I drink, the fatter I get. So I've had maybe four glasses of pop (soda for you funny talkers) in the past three weeks. With that and my oatmeal for brekkie, I've lost about three pounds.
Awesome! Good for you.

October 10th, 2008, 08:32 AM
I did the same thing about 8 months ago. I lost 15 pounds. I mostly drink water now. I know 15lbs. in 8 months isn't a great accomplishment, but I did it by just changing what I drink everyday. Now I am half way to my goal of losing a total of 30lbs.
That's awesome! It is SO a great accomplishment, because you made it with life changes that you can stick to rather than a diet that will drive you insane after a while. I'm going to try that route. So far I have found that going without pop is not nearly so hard as I thought it would be, and hot cereal for breakfast is kind of a treat compared to the crap I was eating, PLUS I love the way it keeps me on an even keel, blood sugar wise. No afternoon crash.

Hehehe. You go all indian right before you get to the Ohi----O! part, hehe.
I guess Mr. Gardiners music class stuck with me a bit.
Lol. Would me saying I was aligned with The Christ mean anything to anyone? Not that it changes anything really. Passion, and giving reason for passion, is completely up to things I'll never be able to control. But I do completely understand where the man is coming from. For instance, did you know that The Christ loved everyone and everything ever, because he knew that where and how you're grown has nothing to do with your worth? If Lucifer really existed, and he was brought up in Michael's environmental conditions, then Lucy might have been the hero. So if someone is nasty, despicable, and despotic, I still refuse to say I hate them. Sure, I would have no qualms about killing them if it would honestly protect my loved ones if that was the only way to protect them. But I still refuse to say I hate them, because hate is too strong a word. I just won't hate anyone. And I could honestly say that I loved them, before I pulled the trigger on them. Mercy is so damn sexy. ;) But it would be real hard for me to say I didn't love someone, regardless of how big of a bully they were, even to ones I love.
So if you manage to be grown like a twisted rogue apple tree in the middle of the darkest depths of the nastiest forest, I don't hate you, and I probably even love you more than you could ever know. Although if you gotta come down, ya gotta come down. My land needs to be beautiful more than you need to be in my existence, if you're that type of a problem.
Plus the fact that I shed tears like squeezing a wet sponge when it comes to any form of passionate story... oh, and that lucidity thing... ;)

I have one for this thread.
A few days ago, I wrote out a message for my husband in German. He told me that he is f****** impressed at how well I have been learning the language.
From him, it means a lot. He's been after me to learn high German like they speak in the area of Germany his parents are from. I'm trying to learn the Austrian pronunciation of the language because I am part Austrian. He'll pick apart my pronunciation and usage like crazy, but I still got that compliment from him.

well the only think ive ever really felt proud of so far is getting two A* in my additional mathematics GCSE (i dont know what the us equivalent is, they're the exams you do when your 16 before you can leave school or stay on to do further exams)
here in ireland some people get chosen to do additional maths in grammar schools
you do the normal maths course everyone does in one year (it normally takes 2 years) and in the second year you do pure maths and mechanics and statistics so you end up with two maths GCSEs instead of 1
the exam was the most difficult stressful 3 hours of my life lol

Hi guys, I had to find this thread, because I am so proud of my 15 year old daughter. She has won 1st place in two separate writing categories in her high school, and they say she is a cinch to win the county competition, and then go on to state.
Now, of these are two essays, one she wrote for a test (not to enter a contest) and the other she wrote for an assignment (again, not to enter the contest).
We had no idea she could write, but all the English Lit teachers in her school say she has a gift. One compared her writing style to Hemingway! I tell you, I was totally blown away.
Her teacher said she saw her write one of the stories; she wrote straight on-no scrap paper, no re-writes, no crossing out (this was pen and paper).
Apparently she's a frikkin' genius! Where she gets it from I have no idea. I've never been interested in writing, only reading. Maybe it's because I've read to her since she was born, and when she was 2, it became 5-10 books a night!
Thanks for letting me brag!

Last night I wrote some stuff on the counter (in pencil, so it washes off) in German. Today I had my husband read the stuff I had written. He said that I'm learning my German better than he ever did.

THIS MACHINE...HAS SPOKEN.
I wrote this after thinking a bit about how Woody Guthrie used to write "This Machine Kills Fascists" on his guitars..
I didn't want my guitar to say anything at all about killing...Rather, it's more important to create and encourage people to create..
Enjoy, and please comment if you'd like...
I realize this is supposed to be a "bragging" thread..well, I'm not bragging or boasting, really, but..I am pretty proud of having written this one.
Thanks for listening, folks.
