Yes, definitely a proud papa. You can't tell from the photo but his eyes are turning green. It is the last thing I think for my wife to hold onto. Now I get a lot of "he didn't get anything from me" complaints. :biggrin2:

Thanks! He is making funny noises now too. Tries to mimic me, ya know. Well I think we'll meet in the middle someday at baby talk - it is a lot of fun to try and communicate in baby-ese. I am going to teach him a few signs too, so that will be neat.

He is coming on so well for his age - must be the proud parents :D

I'm 33 and so far don't look it, but it's catching up, the guesstimation gap is narrowing when it comes to my age.

Grew up in a 980 sq ft house with six other people and survived, that was fun, still have marks on my elbows.

Have two very creative daughters, had my eldest when I was twenty (she was 10lbs and I wasn't much bigger either) and managed to do an ok job as a single mother until I met my husband, and became respectable (kidding!). Had another daughter (2.5 years old) who I suspect has 'Animal' from the Muppets DNA, crazy kid.

Came over to the U.S. last year with nearly $2,000.00, 2 kids, 2 Apple Computers (eMac & G4), 4 changes of clothes, and a packet of teabags - landed a job two weeks after we came here, not quite an Ellis Island story but as close as you'll get in this day and age. I don't do things by halves and never have. That's about it really.

I'm really mortified folks, I'm not really that much of a big head, accept my cringing apologies.

That doesn't sound like a big head...trust me, I know a little somethin' ' bout big headed people:oo:.
Sounded more like big dreams and we won't have no apologizin' for dreamin' big here in America...so quit it:wink2:!

So just exactly how big is your head anyway?..:dunno:..just curious is all.
:biggrin2:

Oh, I feel remiss...A most hearty welcome to the USofA!
Be sure and check out your new National Parks whenever you get the chance...you'll love 'em:smile2:!

On Saturday at the market, I had someone come up to me and tell me that they have tried many different folk's kinds of handmade soap and that mine is by far the best.

Lately, I have been listening to a bit of pop music in German. I'm figuring out what some of the words are and asking my husband if I am right. He told me today that he is impressed at how quickly I am picking up the German from the music. Kewl.

Tell us more, please, I'm fascinated with pre-Columbian civilizations.

I think I will brag about my grandkids. They are sweet when they want to be but other times they are little devils! Paige is 7 and Dustin is 11. I also want to tell the world (for those who don't know) I am in love with Tony. (He was a security guard on the Jerry Springer show, but now gone. He is a hunk. Then you have Edge, from WWE. He's a hottie too.

I installed a new closest organizer while my husband was at work. O.K. it's not Macchu Pichu (although I think my kids act like the Inca's sometimes) but it's the best I've got for now. :smile2:

What an adventure. Did you take any pictures??

I took loads of photos, will try to work out how to get some on here.

It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far.

Had to trek for four fulls day in very high altitude, and arrived through The Sun Gate. As we walked through, the clouds below us cleared and we could see Macchu Pichu below us. Most people visit by going up on a train, so to walk in from above was a humbling experience.

I Peruvian people were so friendly and I will never forget how welcome I was made to feel.

It is hard to believe that the Inca's were totally wiped out.

Well, I have a little bragging to do! :) I will get my bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies this fall semester. I have found an internship at the courthouse. It's going to be interesting. I will be doing a "ride along" in a police car one day, and visit all the different departments in the courthouse. I'm starting to look for a full time position, so if anyone knows someone who needs an excellent paralegal, let me know! :)

Oh, lucky day!

Today, I went to job hunting to a big city nearby. How? Well, in the way that all immigrants use to do here in Spain: just fixing some notices in the street poles. Ok, I was doing it, but I wanted to reach a specific street. So I approached a woman rolling a shopping cart in the street. She just sneered at me and say: I'm in a hurry, get lost! She walked almost three steps and stopped. She started to search for something in her cart and then go back towards the supermarket. She forgot something, I thought. And when she passed by my side, I couldn't help it, I started to laugh at her delighted looking at her loser face and she was very pissed about her "wasting of time". Then, I found the street I was looking for, by myself. And I really upholstered the city with my notices. When done, I was feeling my head so hot and my body very tired. Near the bus stop there was a beer tasting stand!. There they gave me plenty of cold beer and I caught my bus and went back home again. I didn't see not even one policeman during the whole morning!

Everything went just good, just perfect, like in the old times, when a bus driver threw me out of the bus because I was paying a student ticket. He cursed me and I had to wait for the next bus. That day I arrived late to university, but guess what I saw in the way to it!? The bus driver and his bus in a crash!

Who Jah bless, no one curse, you see.

I inhabit two worlds. The one we all think we see, and the one that will be there after this one washes away, and denies that it ever even was. Kinda like a tarot card with an alpha on one side and an omega on the other. The card couldn't exist without both sides, although you can only see one at a time...

Bwa ha ha, cryptic enough for ya?

How about this... I fully understand and use on a daily basis, what I consider to be "the high speech", although what I consider it to be is different from what King had it as, in his novels.

What I mean by this, is I listen to the emotional consciousness that our inner center forces us to convey through our words. I can walk into a room, and hear some sort of higher combined energy from just moving past separate conversations. Hell, I scan radio conversations for another taste of it if I'm in the right mood. It's all about my own spiritual growth and understanding as far as I'm concerned.

Our conscious is connected on every level, and the worlds tend to bleed together. When I'm in a trancy enough mood, conversations go in directions that the people speaking them don't even understand they're speaking.

Course, maybe it's just my damage. Maybe, I'm the one in a world that's moved on and gone away. Maybe I'm on the inside, and they're all on the outside, and it appears to them like I'm the one who's saying the wrong things. Believe me when I state that usually I just listen intently, and let it reverberate in my mind and the minds of everyone else in the room, and just squirm a bit, or respond with what experiences I've had and know from on this view of the mirror. It's hard sometimes though, and really confusing. My friend Michael told me, "stay away from bars"... yeah, it would be really easy to shove a foot out of the door with my mouth when dealing in such ways with multiple realities.

Did I mention I'm legally insane? Although whether the chicken or the egg came first on that one is still open for discussion. For the most part I am pretty much harmless, and I never do anything seriously stupid other than run my mouth. Maybe I'm just really good with my imagination, plus... a bit like the little girl in 'Rose Red'.

Oh, and I might have said, but when I explained to various people that I was getting tanned and toned to get a photo shoot before I moved forward with considering a job in the sexual entertainment business... everybody had the attitude like, "Well duh. Of course you're good lookin' enough to do that kinda work." I was blown out of the water. Why didn't anybody ever tell me I was smokin' hot, damnit! Probably just a stupid complex I have, cause I know I'm not that ugly, but I never figured I was worth anything. One professional woman was like, "you're gonna need to use your eyes." Just factually, as a 'just so you know' way, in response to me saying that's where I was going to go after I left my dealings with her.

But yeah. Two worlds. Chanting, 'I get twooooo, I get twooooo... I bet you only see oneeeeee...'

This is the thread where everyone can come to and brag about something that's happened to them. I'm not sure if we've ever had one of these. I know there are people out there with good news. ... Things you are just aching to tell someone!

Ok, ... well ... it's also an excuse to share my bragging moment! :)

I'm going to college to get my bachelor's degree in paralegal. I'm taking Constitutional Law. I had this paper I had to do with three legal briefs attached. To make a long story short ... lol! I made an A on the paper and an A on the briefs! There was a comment on the paper. "This paper was written extremely well."

I was so worried!

CORONA IS SPONSORING MY PARTY! My husband and I are 25 this year, my birthday was on 7/26, his is on 8/18, so we decided to do a combined party. This is the letter I sent them and several other companies:

Dear sir/madam;

I and my friends have been enjoying your fine products since we were of legal drinking age. Our parties are not complete unless someone brings the Corona, and it's a real downer when we run out. Responsible partakers of your product that we are, we always have a DD on hand to make an extra beer run if necessary.

This year will be my and my husband's 25th birthdays. Such a momentous occasion deserves a celebration of legendary proportions. We have dubbed this event Leopalooza and it will take place on 8/8/08. However, with the economy in such a bad state and gas prices destroying our entertainment budget, our soiree might be spoiled by empty fridges.

As loyal consumers of your product, we have never complained about the price of a good beer. We have worn your logo on our hats and t-shirts to public events and have done so with pride. My question is this: would your company be willing to sponsor our birthday fiesta by providing us with much needed supplies? We would gladly show our appreciation by advertising and recommending your products.

If sponsorship is not an option, maybe you could throw down some free t-shirts or something?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Liz, the Leopalooza event co-coordinator

They sent us $250 worth of vouchers. Holy crap. THANK YOU CORONA!

This is priceless...love poodles.
Had a little black one as a kid, but had to give him to my grandma (she had a poodle of her own) when we moved from Toronto.
He lived a long time, if I recall...:smile2:

I'm bragging because I just got asked to illustrate a children's book! I'm really excited about it, and I hope I do a good job. Also I graduated high school a few months ago with a 4.3 GPA, and I'm heading off to college at Temple University in a few weeks to study Film & Media Arts.
And I'd just like to say those poodles are adorable! :)

My Cam is the only thing I care to brag about. :)

Here is an updated pic. He is 4 months now. He just got an exesaucer(spelling??). He loves it. He also just rolled from his back to his stomach on his own. He has a laugh now that can make an entire room full of people burst into hysterics. He also is finding his voice - a lot of teradactyl cries.

I dont know if this counts as something to brag about, but for the first time in 3 months...i'm not working on saturday!!!! w00t!!!!

I'm a public servant, i'm not meant to work on weekends, its one of the reasons i became a public servant in the first place. but i have been...and it has sucked the big one. So i'm celebrating my day off by a) staying up late to hang out on the board at the same time as everyone else (damn you time difference - my mortal enemy) and b) ignoring my governments plea to stop my unhealthy binge drinking and going on an absolute *bender* tomorrow afternoon with my friend for his birthday. yeah dude...i'm gonna write myself off and its gonna be rad.

Except for all you underagers in here, i'm being very irresponsible and you should never binge drink cause its bad ok? I'm going to wind up in bed all day sunday with a bad hangover and i'll have killed so many brain cells that i'll actually be dumber. dont drink kids - its very very bad.

First of all, the baby pictures on this thread are adorable! You guys have every right to brag :)

I guess my brag isn't really a brag but a "whoa" moment. I saved someone's life yesterday. Ok, that's not really too unusual - I'm a lifeguard. But she was unconscious in the wavepool and the lifeguard who was supposed to be watching where she went down ... wasn't. I heard someone scream and dove in and it's the most scared I've ever been in a LONG time.
In any case, I had a stronger guy, who happened to know her, carry her in while I held her head up and and got her to wake up. She coughed up a lot of water and was incoherent for a while - but needless to say, terrifying. Especially since I hadn't been watching that part of the pool and didn't know how long she was under.

Woot for doing your job, right?! I feel bad for the guy who wasn't watching... he's going to get reemed.

Anyways, it's kind of a brag because her son was right there and he was about 8 or so. It felt pretty good to see them hug after she was ok.

Now that is something to brag about. You just saved someone's Mom, future grandmother, etc... You never know, if she has more children, they wouldn't be there without you. Nice job. You should feel very good and I feel good for you. It is special what you did. I hope you celebrate it, because I am sure with a job like that there can be rough times too.

Don't know if I can really brag yet, but when the manager was introducing me to a new department manager at work, she added another title into her description of me. Kind of smells of a minor promotion to me...

I hope it is what I think it is and that it involves a pay raise because it sure wasn't a part of my job description at my last performance review earlier this year.

*crosses everything*

How did I miss this? What a wonderful, beautiful act of selflessness! You know, someone did that for my little sister once and I never got to thank them. So let me thank you for saving a life.

Hi,

Just received a goodie bag from my very good friend, Kim - Woo Hoo!

Kim has very kindly sent me three books -

Al Kooper's autobiography; great title 'Backstage Passes and Backstabbing B*stards, Memoirs of a Rock'n'roll Survivor'. Al Kooper has been one of my idols ever since he played organ on Dylan's Blonde on Blonde over forty years ago (sigh).

The Oxford American magazine, Southern Music Issue WITH a CD. Woo Hoo!

And 'Goodnight Bush - An Unauthorised Parody', sounds good to me.

Plus a really nice t-shirt (Real Men Read) from a SF bookshop. I'll let Kim tell you the name of the bookshop LOL

Thankee big-big, Kim, very much appreciated indeed!

Long days and pleasant nights

The bookshop is "West Portal Bookstore," on West Portal St. Looked for Charlie the Choo Choo or Riddle Me This! but couldn't find them, so settled for Goodnight Bush and the T shirt.

Blackeye, your baby is gorgeous! You are lucky. My babies are grown now 8 and 5. Still cute, but not baby goo-goo cute like your's right now.

Kilted One Wow! I can never say I saved someone's life. But I did give birth twice. :biggrin2:

My brag pales in comparison: I've stuck to my exercise regimen for 2 months and now I am down one dress size.

My wife says she occasionally feels something...'cos like Paul Kelly said...
"From little things, big things grow"...

and I'm pretty sure they're all fairly ugly, should one get right down close to 'em.

I got my car back! My husband was in a wreck on the 4th, no one was hurt, but there was a lot of damage, both doors, the frame between them and the rear quarter panel had to be replaced, but it's home now, looks better than before! Plus they did a few extra things totally gratis, fixed my shifter and ignition.

Awesome!

I recently started working out(6 or so weeks ago I guess???). I feel better already and have lost 8 or so lbs. I have been putting on muscle, so it is hard to tell by the scale how well I am doing. I went 5 times this week. I have an addictive personality I suppose. But stick with it! Who knew sweating could be so much fun? :biggrin2:
