Scotland's biggest music festival, T in the Park, starts today with an incredible line-up.

If you go to External Links in the Wiki Link you'll get the terrific BBC coverage of the entire festival, should you be in the mood for a rock festival from the comfort of your computer chair.

"Photograph" by Nickelback

"I miss that town
I miss the faces
You can't erase
You can't replace it
I miss it now
I can't believe it
So hard to stay
Too hard to leave it

If I could I relive those days
I know the one thing that would never change

Every memory of looking out the back door
I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye.
Every memory of walking out the front door
I found the photo of the friend that I was looking for
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye."

I went back to my hometown last week on vacation and so much of it has changed. Old country roads and farm fields are giving way to housing developments. Kind of sad for me to see. Goodbye, goodbye.

I'm not really into country music but I love Terri Clark's music.

Now That I Found You
Terri Clark

How can I believe
That my heart would find someone like you
You see me, the real me
No in bewteens, I had nowhere to hide
You took away the walls around me
Made me feel safe to share my truth

I see the heavens open, a heart that once was broken
Is holding nothing back
Now that I found you
You hold me like a prayer, you touch me everywhere
A lifetime just ain't enough to love you true
Now that I found you
Now that I found you

I do believe we're meant to be
Our chemistry will last forever
And through the years
We'll see some tears
We'll conquer fears
And together we will grow
Look through your eyes
They tell me
I no longer have to be alone

I see the heavens open, a heart that once was broken
Is holding nothing back
Now that I found you
You hold me like a prayer, you touch me everywhere
A lifetime just ain't enough to love you true
Now that I found you
Now that I found you

You see me, the real me
You belive you in me

I see the heavens open, a heart that once was broken
Is holding nothing back
Now that I found you
You hold me like a prayer, you touch me everywhere
A lifetime just ain't enough to love you true
Now that I found you
Now that I found you

Telling me to go But hands beg me to stay
Your lips say that you love Your eyes say that you hate
This truth in your lies Doubt in your faith
What you've built you laid to waste
There's truth in your lies Doubt in your faith
All I've got's what you didn't take
So I, I won't be the one
Be the one to leave this
In pieces
And you
You will be alone
Alone with all your secrets
And regrets
Don't lie
You promised me the sky Then toss me like a stone
You wrap me in your arms And chill me to the bone
This truth in your lies Doubt in your faith
All I've got's what you didn't take
So I, I won't be the one
Be the one to leave this
In pieces
And you
You will be alone
Alone with all your secrets
And regrets
Don't lie.

Margaritaville....

Nibblin' on sponge cake,
watchin' the sun bake;
All of those tourists covered with oil.
Strummin' my six string on my front porch swing.
Smell those shrimp
They're beginnin' to boil.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know it's nobody's fault.

Don't know the reason,
Stayed here all season
With nothing to show but this brand new tattoo.
But it's a real beauty,
A Mexican cutie, how it got here
I haven't a clue.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
Now I think, - hell it could be my fault.

I blew out my flip flop,
Stepped on a pop top,
Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home.
But there's booze in the blender,
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know, it's my own damn fault.
Yes, and some people claim that there's a woman to blame
And I know it's my own damn fault.

HI,

That's great news, La Belladonna, he's a GREAT player. In London in the 60's he was a session guitarist (rated along with Page) before he formed The Herd (have you listened to them?), then formed Humble Pie (GREAT band!) with Stevie Marriott and Greg Ridley.

I'm sure you'll all have a great time, and it's hard to think of a better or more respected guitarist to be the first your daughter sees live (remember his solo live album?).

Type O Negative - Blood & Fire

Lyrics-
I always thought we'd be together
And that our love could not be better
Well with no warning you were gone
I still don't know what went wrong
You don't know what I've been through
Just want to put my love in you

No more nights
of blood & fire

All those special memories
Now I bleed for you - burn for me
Perhaps I was just dreaming
When I think these things had real meaning
You don't know what I've been through
Just want to put my love in you

Love eternal
Lust infernal
Bleeding, burning
Needing, yearning

I see your face in every flame
With no answers I have only myself to blame
Of all the women I have known - they're not you
I'd rather be alone

No more nights
of blood & fire

John, I'm glad you liked it-their album is yet to be released, they are still pretty "new".

Today I am missing family so here's my song.

Smile-Nat King Cole.

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though its breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, youll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
Youll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
Thats the time you must keep on trying
Smile, whats the use of crying?
Youll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Hi,

Nick Lowe - '(What's So Funny About) Peace, Love and Understanding?'.

The nearest thing the UK's ever had to Gram Parsons for the last 40 years, Nick did a blinding set on a show called 'BBC Four Sessions - Nick Lowe', doubtless available on bbc,co.uk. Onetime sideman for Ry Cooder, Elvis Costello etc and Johnny Cash's son-in-law,.Nick wrote a lot of songs which are better known than he is - 'I Knew The Bride When She Used To Rock'n'roll' and 'I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass' among them, and he's matured marvellously and well worth a listen IMO.

All of us are completely psyched for tonight. Our oldest was "turned on" to Frampton by watching Stephen Colbert's show of all things, and also by watching the VH1 specials "We Love The '70's" part 2. Frampton had a segment for each year to name the "rock Gods" of that time. Boy, did he age really well. That man has beautiful eyes.

I'm hoping for some Humble Pie songs tonight. I really enjoyed their style of music. My husband has gone through 3 versions of Frampton Comes Alive - first in album form, then cassette, now CD. Its one of his favorites. :smile2:

"Get Up, Stand Up" by Bob Marley

I love listening to Marley. Just zone and go with the flow.

This song was going through my head while watching parts of "Super High Me" which was discussed under another thread in "Surveys". So its been on my mind (and playing on my IPod) all week, then last night we stopped at a local store called "Grasshoppers" which is what used to be called a "head shop" a few years back. They make the best smelling and burning incense there. Plus they have all kinds of clothing, candles, jewelry, and other stuff. My kids love the clothes and jewelry. My oldest was looking at posters. She told me she was going to buy one because it had the best message on it. When she showed me I was very pleased because it was Marley, on stage, black and white, and on the bottom was the refrain from "Get Up, Stand Up". Awesome to know that my kids are getting what we are trying to teach them!:biggrin2:

Broadway Jungle (Toots & The Maytals)

Come on live a little
Broadway.
One last stop in the jungle
leave for the first time
We died in the jungle
at the hands of a man
We're all in the jungle
Couldn't find a way
So Come on the jungle
Man to man
When we really don't know this jungle
which way to jump and dance
jump in the line
rock your body in time
everything is alright
we're going to Broadway
For the first time
We're out of the jungle
Everything is alright
Ohhhhhhh
Come on live a little
Broadway.
We're out of the jungle
We're going to Broadway
Come on boys, come on girls
Let's jump in the line
rock your body in time
Everything is alright
Let's go to Broadway.

OK, here is what you do... slap yourself firmly across the face, then sing "It's a small world afterall" 7times loudly... if you really want to get rid of that Ozzy song you'll have to not care who hears you. Stand up and do 3 jumping jacks. Then punch air and sing "It's the eye of the Tiger, it's the thrill of the fight!". Then splash yourself with cold water to the face. :biggrin2:

"Death or Glory" by the Clash

Now every cheap hood strikes a bargain with the world,
Ends up making payments on a sofa or a girl.
Love 'n hate tattooed across the knuckles of his hands,
Hands that slap his kids around, 'cause they don't understand how

Death or glory, becomes just another story.
Death or glory, becomes just another story.

'n every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock 'n roll,
Grabs the mike to tell us he'll die before he's sold,
But I believe in this and it's been tested by research,
He, who f***s nuns, will later join the church.

Death or glory, becomes just another story.
Death or glory, becomes just another story.

Fear in the gun-sights,
They say lie low,
You say ok,
Don't wanna play the show,
Now all you're thinking
"Was it death or glory now?"
Playing the blues of kings,
Sure looks better now.

Death or glory, just another story?
Death or glory, just another story?

From every dingy basement, on every dingy street,
Every dragging handclap over every dragging beat,
It's just the beat of time, the beat that must go on
If you've been trying for years, we 'ready heard your song

Death or glory, becomes just another story.
Death or glory, just another story?

We gonna march, a long way,
Fight, a long time,
We got to travel, over mountains,
Got to travel, over seas,
We gonna fight, your brother,
We gonna fight, 'til you loose,
We gonna raise, trouble,
We gonna raise, hell.

We gonna fight, your brother,
Raise, hell.

Death or glory, becomes just another story.
Death or glory, becomes just another story.

Death or glory, just another story
Death or glory, becomes just another story.

__

Listened to this on the way to work this morning. There's just a strange kind of truth in this song that i can relate to. I'm also surprised that they wrote this at the peak of their success with the London Calling Album. The first time I heard it I was surprised that the band would write a song like this. YouTube Natalie Imbruglia Shiver Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdmvStF-7uc)

I absolutely love this video. The song is powerful enough to begin with, but then you get to see her tryin' to get away, and doin' some work. Plus, she's got that look a good woman has had since the beginning of it all. Long hair, really pretty, nice tight body shape. My kinda girl.

Hi

Kid Rock - 'All Summer Long' (yet again LOL)

Every time I phone Pat (which is quite often these days) this song seems to come on the TV music channel that I leave on in the background in a very Ka-ish way!

Long days and pleasant nights

Isn't it amazing how all of the songs you hear sound different now? :smile2: Good for you both... but if Ka is like a wheel work to stay on the topside! :biggrin2:

"Magic" by Bruce Springsteen

"I got a shiny saw blade (a shiny saw blade)
All I need's a volunteer
I'll cut you in half
While you're smilin' ear to ear
And the freedom that you sought
Driftin' like a ghost amongst the trees
This is what will be
This is what will be (This is what will be)

Now there's a fire down below
But it's coming up here
So leave everything you know
Carry only what you fear
On the road the sun is sinkin' low
Bodies hanging in the trees
This is what will be (This is what will be)
This is what will be"

This song is so bad arse. It reminds me of a Johnny Cash song "when the man comes around". It just is a bad arse train chugging down the steel burning everything in its' wake. :biggrin2:

For whatever reason, I can't get "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" by Elton John out of my head. Can't resist a song with lyrics like, "My old man's drunker than a barrel full of monkeys..." The heck? I played with them as a kid and I don't remember them being drunk, just having those weird S-shaped arms. Maybe the Barrel O'Monkeys game is different in England?

It is fun to sing along with, funky lyrics and all. :)

Let us remember:

"Blowin In The Wind" Dylan

Blowin' In The Wind
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind

Stiff Necked Fools - Bob Marley.

Stiff-necked fools, you think you are cool
To deny me for simplicity.
Yes, you have gone for so long
With your love for vanity now.
Yes, you have got the wrong interpretation
Mixed up with vain imagination.

So take Jah Sun, and Jah Moon,
And Jah Rain, and Jah Stars,
And forever, yes, erase your fantasy, yea-eah!

The lips of the righteous teach many,
But fools die for want of wisdom.
The rich man's wealth is in his city;
The righteous' wealth is in his Holy Place.

So take Jah Sun, and Jah Moon,
And Jah Rain, and Jah Stars,
And forever, yes, erase your fantasy, yeah!
Destruction of the poor is in their poverty;
Destruction of the soul is vanity, yeah!

Lately it's been "Ocean" and "Back Home" by Cold, I've always liked the songs, they're kinda' dark, but they also remind of a friend I care about very much, who I hope I can help. :smile2:

Ocean

If the wind could bring the rain
I would save it all for you
Make an ocean to sail away and begin again
They said i could never change
That i cant belong to you
Than i watched you sip away in the oceans arms

I'll never get you back.
Its like fallin down a wave,
Fallin down a wave

If a star could light the way
That could take me back to you
And the rain could wash away
Everything ive done
Only melody remains
So i sing my song to you
As i watched you slip away in the oceans arms

I will never get you back

Back Home

When she walks into the room
They look up to see her face
All the glitter falls on her
And the rooms her stage
Dont you think youve had enough
Do their claws make sores
Take my hand and come away
And ill take you home

I wont turn around, cant be afraid
Takin you all the way back home
Innocence gone, cant be the same
Takin you all the way back home

Will the world still be the same
Even if your gone
When the pillars start to fade
And the rooms just walls
Dont you think youve had enough
Do there claws make sores
Take my hand and come away
(And I'll take you home)

Dont you think youve had enough
Whats the gun there for
Take my hand and fly away
And I'll take you home
Dont you think youve had enough
Whats the gun there for
Take my hand and come away
And I'll take you
