When my brother insisted on joining his five sisters on a girls' golf weekend he was made to take a girl test. "If you are wearing a black dress with red shoes and carrying a red bag, what color is your belt?" asked the middle sister. Sweet Pete got it right in one. I failed. :eek2: How embarrassing.

Last day of school for the girls, and I think I'm more excited about it than they are. No more battles to get them to do homework, take showers, go to bed, get up, eat breakfast, get dressed, find their stuff, hurry hurry hurry "Will you come on already!!!" that I'm sure the whole block could hear me yelling. Yay! Until August 25 that is.

Kingston Town-UB:40

The night seems to fade,
But the moonlight lingers on
There are wonders for everyone
The stars shine so bright,
But they`re fading after dawn
There is magic in kingston town.

Oh kingston town,
The place I long to be
If I had the whole world
I would give it away
Just to see, the girls at play.

And when I am king,
Surely I would need a queen
And a palace and everything, yeah
And now I am king,
And my queen will come at dawn
She`ll be waiting in kingston town.

Our boys are in school until the 20th, but we get to keep them until the Wednesday after Labor Day. I really like that set-up. It gives us a day to recover from end of summer festivities... A family golf tournament, in our case. Still, I do love Alice's classic;

No more pencils,
No more books,
No more teacher's dirty looks.
Out for summer,
Out 'til fall.
We might not go back at all.

See the sun
Fading slowly through the clouds
That lay above the sea

Standing here
I can almost feel your arms
Reach out and hold me

In the distance
The night birds are flying
And with every breath
I can't keep from crying
My life's been like a dream.

Touch your lips to mine
And sunlight flew around me
On a golden wind

Now the time
Has gone so quickly
And I wonder if
I'll ever understand

Oh the silence
That embraces my mind
Touches a feeling
That was so hard to find
Has Life been just a dream?

For John and Pat

"These Are Days"
10,000 Maniacs

These are the days
These are days you’ll remember
Never before and never since, I promise
Will the whole world be warm as this
And as you feel it,
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you
Are touched by something
That will grow and bloom in you

These are days that you’ll remember
When May is rushing over you
With desire to be part of the miracles
You see in every hour
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you are touched
By something that will grow and bloom in you

These are days
These are the days you might fill
With laughter until you break
These days you might feel
A shaft of light
Make its way across your face
And when you do
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
See the signs and know their meaning
It's true
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
Hear the signs and know they’re speaking
To you, to you

"Strange and Beautiful (I'll Put a Spell on You)" - Aqualung

II've been watching your world from afar.
I've been trying to be where you are,
And I've been secrety falling apart unseen.
To me, you're strange and you're beautiful.
You'd be so perfect with me, but you just can't see.
You turn every head but you don't see me.

I'll put a spell on you.
You fall asleep when I put a spell on you,
And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see
And you'll realize that you love me.
Yeah, yeah.

Sometimes the last thing you want comes in first.
Sometimes the first thing you want never comes,
And I know the waiting is all you can do sometimes.

I'll put a spell on you.
You fall asleep. I'll put a spell on you,
And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you'll see
And you'll realize that you love me.

I'll put a spell on you.
You fall asleep 'cause I put a spell on you
And when I wake you, I'll be the first thing you see,
And you'll realize that you love me.
Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I usually fall asleep to reno 911 or southpark. I like to laugh myself to sleep. But last night I couldn't bring myself to change the channel from the public station. They had Lifehouse in concert on a show called Soundstage. I must say, it was a very nice way to fall asleep.

With that in mind, I would like to put up a rock block...

Remember the time I told you the way that I felt

Hehehe. Just got the video, and Man!, that girl is a honey. That little gold dress she's wearin reminds me of... I dunno, maybe she's santa clauses daughter. She totally looks like a present. Hell, I'd wanna kiss her no matter what incarnation I was in. And that blonde with the lusty look they showed a few times for a few seconds in the background... God, how could a hot woman not want to play with other hot women? Were they brought up funny?

Either way, this would more or less be my theme song today, cause I'm in the mood that I'd take a girl and open doors for her world... A girl would have to be super special for me to even date her, if she didn't like other girls. Not a gay girl, mind you. A woman that isn't interested in a man is kinda useless in my book. But a woman that doesn't get turned on by other hot women... really doesn't have much room in my world either. But I'm bad, and I'd make a girl bad, and it'd be just what she wanted too.

Straight women aren't sexually attracted to other women for the same reason that straight men aren't attracted to other men regardless of how hot they are. I can appreciate another woman's beauty without wanting to have sexual relations with her. Not everything is about SEX!!!! And, no, I'm not a prude who doesn't enjoy sex. :glare:

Oh right, every man's fantasy... Girls into other girls, and they have to be hot. You know how lame that sounds to someone like me? I'm bi. I am not into girls for my husband's pleasure. I'm into them for MINE.

Don't take this wrong,but...

Grow up. Please. Stereotyping bisexual women really won't get you far in finding a life partner.

For the record, my intention wasn't to start a debate.

BlackThorn,

I would hope that we all can make room for everyone's personal choices. The world isn't black and white - a lot of grey, you know? It is all good with me. I accept people for their heart, mind, and personality. I have very little respect for people that don't do the same. Would you consider removing the line about calling someone "useless" because of their sexual preference?

All,

My apologies if this thread turns up ugly.

Yep, I've got that one.

Down In Mexico
Down in Mexicali
There's a crazy little place that I know
Where the drinks are hotter than the chili sauce
And the boss is a cat named Joe

He wears a red bandana, plays a blues pianna
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico
He wears a purple sash, and a black moustache
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico

Well, the first time that I saw him
He was sittin' on a piano stool
I said "Tell me dad, when does the fun begin?"
He just winked his eye and said "Man, be cool."

He wears a red bandana, plays a blues pianna
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico
He wears a purple sash, and a black moustache
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico

All of a sudden in walks this chick

Joe starts playing on a Latin kick

Around her waist she wore three fishnets

She started dancin' with the castanets

I didn't know just what to expect

She threw her arms around my neck

We started dancin' all around the floor
And then she did a dance I never saw before.

So if you're south of the border
I mean down in Mexico
And you wanna get straight,
Man, don't hesitate
Just look up a cat named Joe.

He wears a red bandana, plays a blues pianna
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico
He wears a purple sash, and a black moustache
In a honky-tonk, down in Mexico

Yeah, como est usted senorita
Come with me to the border, south of the border, that is
In Mexico, yeah in Mexico
You can get your kicks in Mexico
Come with me baby, come with me, come with me, crazy, yeah

One Eyed, One Horned Purple People Eater .. Sheb Wooley

Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky
It had the one long horn, one big eye
I commenced to shakin' and I said "ooh-eee"
It looks like a purple eater to me

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
(One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater)
A one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me (One eye?)

Well he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said Mr. Purple People Eater, don't eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn't eat you cuz you're so tough

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me (One horn?)

I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line
He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine
But that's not the reason that I came to land
I wanna get a job in a rock and roll band

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater
(We wear short shorts)
Flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me

And then he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground
He started to rock, really rockin' around
It was a crazy ditty with a swingin' tune
Sing a boop boop aboopa lopa lum bam boom

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater
I like short shorts
Flyin' little people eater
Sure looks strange to me (Purple People?)

And then he went on his way, and then what do ya know
I saw him last night on a TV show
He was blowing it out, a'really knockin' em dead
Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head

Beautiful song though. Lyrics sound like liquid heaven.

ANDAIN - BEAUTIFUL THINGS

Got up early, found somethings missing
My only name
No one else sees, but I got stuck,
Since forever came
Stop pushing moon for just a second
Then nothings changed
Who am I, this time where's my name?
I guess it crept away

...

No one's calling for me at the door.
and unpredictable won't bother anymore.
Silently, it 's harder to ignore,
But straight ahead
There's nothing left to see
What's done is done
This life has got its hold on me
Just let it go, one man can never be

I forgot that I might see
So many beautiful things
I forgot that I might need
to find out
What life could bring
Beautiful things

Take this happy ending away, its
All the same
God won't waste this simplicity on possibility.
Get me up, wake me up, dreams a feeling
This trace of blame
Frozen still I thought I could stop,
now who's gonna wait.

No one's calling for me at the door.
and unpredictable won't bother anymore.
and silently gets harder to ignore.
but straight ahead, there's nothing left to see.
what's done is done, this life has got it's hold on me.
just let it go, what now can never be.
So many, beautiful things
So many, beautiful things

Now, I do, I do,
Cannot change my mind,
Did I think things through?
It was once my life - it was my life at one time

Really Good song. This mix video of it is pretty decent. I Love the nature in it.

[lyrics]

You talk to me
With the language of the sea
Of sand hot in the sun

With the cries of night creatures
I dimly understand....
In your great escape

Your binary words
Glow in my darkness
Your darling hangs in the air

Could you make chemicals run
In my blood just by looking
And take my free will and
blow it away

And I feel your warmth
As the sparks fly upwards
From the burning of all of your bridges

In your great escape
In your great escape
It's your chance to take
make your great escape

Hi,

Jimmy Cliff - 'Many Rivers to Cross'.

Heard the old maestro (and many, many other acts too!) on the BBCs superb coverage of the Glastonbury Festival, available on bbc.co.uk/glastonbury

Very enjoyable for anyone that enjoys rock festivals, but can't be ars*d with camping in the mud anymore.

Long days and pleasant nights

Well I been watchin
While you been coughin
Ive been drinking life
While you been nausous
And so I drink to health
While you kill yourself
And I got just one thing
That I can offer

Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and and save yourself
Take it out on me yea

Well Im not a martyr
Im not a prophet
And I wont preach to you
But heres a caution
You better understand
That I wont hold your hand
But if it helps you mend
Then I wont stop it

Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me yea

Go if you want
And Ill see you in the bottom
Where you crawl
On my skin
And put the blame on me
So you dont feel a thing

Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me
Go and save yourself
Take it out on me yeah

And so say we all...

War by Bob Marley and The Wailers

The lyrics of this song are derived from a speech made by Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I (Ras Tafari Makonnen) before the United Nations General Assembly in 1963.

Until the philosophy which hold one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there are no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than
the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be persued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
that hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywhere is war, me say war
War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight
We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
