Another Dedication
Between Seventeen and Twenty- Elton John
I wonder who's sleeping in your sheets tonight
Whose head rests upon the bed
Could it be a close friend I knew so well
Who seems to be so close to you instead
Close to you instead
I'm blue tonight, I'm red when I'm mad
I'm green when I'm jealous, yellow when I'm sad
I guess I cannot have everything
So much has flown between the years
When I was twenty and you were seventeen
So out of choice I chose rock and roll
But it pushed me to the limit everyday
It turned me into a gypsy, kept me away from home
From there on, there seemed no use for you
For you to stay
And if I shower around 3 a.m.
It's just to wash away
The trace of a love unwanted
Oh in the times I went astray
The times I went astray
So much has flown between the years
When I was twenty and you were seventeen

In honor of Duma Key and all of us in the frigid parts of the world, come on down to the coast with me and let those tropical breezes blow through your soul dancing in the sand with a drink in your hand.
Angel - Shaggy
Girl, you're my angel, you're my darling angel
Closer than my peeps you are to me, baby
Shorty, you're my angel, you're my darling angel
Girl, you're my friend when I'm in need, lady
Life is one big party when you're still young
But who's gonna have your back when it's all done
It's all good when you little, you have pure fun
Can't be a fool, son, what about the long run
Looking back Shorty always mention
Said me not giving her much attention
She was there through my incarceration
I want to show the nation my appreciation
Girl, you're my angel, you're my darling angel
Closer than my peeps you are to me, baby
Shorty, you're my angel, you're my darling angel
Girl, you're my friend when I'm in need, lady
You're a queen and as so you should be treated
Though you never get the lovin' that you needed
Could have left, but I called and you heeded
Begged and I pleaded, mission completed
Mama said that I and I dissed the program
Not the type to mess around with her emotion
But the feeling that I have for you is so strong
Been together so long and this could never be wrong
Girl, you're my angel, you're my darling angel
Closer than my peeps you are to me, baby
Shorty, you're my angel, you're my darling angel
Girl, you're my friend and I'm in need, lady
Uh, uh Girl, in spite of my behavior, said I'm your savior
(You must be sent from up above)
And you appear to me so tender, say girl I surrender
(Thanks for giving me your love)
Girl, in spite of my behavior, well, you are my savior
(You must be sent from up above)
And you appear to me so tender, well, girl I surrender
(So thanks for giving me your love)
Now life is one big party when you're still young
And who's gonna have your back when it's all done
It's all good when you little, you have pure fun
Can't be a fool, son, what about the long run
Looking back Shorty always mention
Said me not giving her much attention
She was there through my incarceration
I wanna show the nation my appreciation
No Woman No Cry - Bob Marley
No woman no cry
No woman no cry
No woman no cry
No woman no cry
Cause I remember when we used to sit
In a government yard in Trenchtown
Observing the hypocrites
Mingle with the good people we meet
Good friends we have, Oh, good friends we have lost
Along the way
In this great future,
You can't forget your past
So dry your tears, I seh
No woman no cry
No woman no cry
Little darling, don't shed no tears
No woman no cry
Said I remember when we use to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire lights
I seh, log would burnin' through the nights
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge
Of which i'll share with you
My feet is my only carriage
And so i've got to push on thru,
Oh, while i'm gone
Everything 's gonna be alright
Everything 's gonna be alright
No woman no cry
No woman no cry
I seh little darlin'
Don't shed no tears
No woman no cry.

Thanks John, I love 'Rock Star'. I think I hurt the speakers in my truck with it.
My mind travels down to the west coast of Florida and the Caribbean quite often. In the first photo with the trees, a fence was put up around that entire hotel resort because it was closed - kinda creepy. I so wanted to climb over and go exploring. The hotel has been torn down, which is sad because it was beautiful.

"Last Thing On My Mind"
Tom Paxton
It's a lesson too late for the learning,
Made of sand, made of sand.
In the wink of an eye my soul is turning
In your hand, in your hand.
Chorus:
Are you goin' away with no word of farewell?
Will there be not a trace left behind?
I could have loved you better, didn't mean to be unkind;
You know that was the last thing on my mind.

WOW-Thanks, nico. I always loved that song, and I never new that it meant that!
I don't know if you watch "The Simpsons" TV show over there, but once Bart switched the music on the church's organ player to the In-a-gadda-da-vida song, and they had the whole church singing it. Then they cut away to 20 minutes later, with the organist still playing, exhasted, till the song was finished.
It was great.

"SHE" from RAGE
Hey, I know someone who's got a real special love.
She is made of sheet metal, her name's Christine.
She takes sweet revenge
hunt them till the end
She's a lady in red varnish and shining chrome
She's alive and she's more jealous than girls in flesh and blood
All the other guys don't like him, so one night
they are smashing Christine, but she gets up again.
There she's waiting behind the corner,
fixing them with her blinding lights.
They won't escape out of this misty night alive
and she won't come to harm...
She is keeping him from all his friends away.
He is getting more paranoid each day.
She takes sweet revenge hunt them till the end
She's a lady in red varnish and shining chrome
He's a wreck and he's more jealous than boys in flesh and blood
He takes sweet revenge
hunt them till the end.

Well, I woke up with Perfect Time Of Day in my head. I'm certainly hoping it's because of a video I like that's set to it (last episode of Angel). The first line is; "It's the perfect time of day, it's the last day of your life..." :eek2:

Well, one of two songs keep me on my toes. First one, Bleeding me by Metallica, a song about starting fresh. Then, the Clash Should I stay or should I go. "If I go there will be trouble, if I stay there will be double." Oy vey! Well, at least let the bodies hit the floor has left my head... but anyway.

Aha! Another RHPS fan, I see. I have watched it over 200 times ( cuz I'm older than you, prolly) at least 150 of those times I was in a theatre throwing toast or yelling at the narrator to buy a neck...yes, I was one of those... :wink2:
OMG!! Me too! I saw Rocky Horror in the theatres maybe about 40 times. Yessss, I, too threw toast, held up a newpaper on my head when it rained in the movie, threw rice, and back then, we actually held up lighters (not allowed now-they bring flashlights).

Patricia, I remember seeing RHPS as a midnight double feature (!) with Phantom Of The Paradise in 1975. It was the second movie on the bill and we watched it. Just watched. Response was mixed (it started at about 2:30 AM which could have influenced that).
A few years later I went to see it again. When people started singing along, shouting, holding things, up, etc. I was quite surprised. This had just started happening during this re-release of the film. It was fun being there as new things became part of the audience repertoire. I've seen it several times since and each time more audience participation was added. It was fun seeing the Show evolve and grow. But sometimes it makes me feel like a dinosaur!

Song: Almost Home
Album: I Love It
(Craig Morgan/Kerry Curt Phillips)
He had plastic bags wrapped 'round his shoes
He was covered with the evening news
Had a pair of old wool socks on his hands
The bank sign was flashing "5 below
It was freezing rain an' spittin' snow
He was curled up behind some garbage cans
I was afraid that he was dead
I gave him a gentle shake
When he opened up his eyes
I said,"Old man are you ok?"
He said,"I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree
I was runnin' from some honey bees
Drip dryin' in the summer breeze
After jumpin' into Calico creek
I was walkin' down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you'd just left me alone
'Cause I was almost home..."
Then he said,"I was just comin' round the barn"
'Bout the time you grabbed my arm
When I heard Momma holler son hurry up
I was close enough for my old nose
To smell fresh cobbler on the stove
And I saw daddy loadin' up the truck
Cane poles on the tailgate
Bobbers blowin' in the wind
Since July of '55
That's as close as I've been
"Yeah, I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree
I was runin' from some honey bees
Drip dryin' in the summer breeze
After jumpin' into Calico creek
I was walkin' down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you'd just left me alone
I was almost home"
I said,"old man you're gonna freeze to death"
Let me drive you to the mission
He said,"Boy if you'd left me alone
Right now I'd be fishin'"
"I just climbed out of a cottonwood tree
I was runnin' from some honey bees
Drip dryin' in the summer breeze
After jumpin' into Calico creek
I was walkin' down an old dirt road
Past a field of hay that had just been mowed
Man I wish you'd just left me alone
'Cause I was almost home"
"Man I wish you'd just left me alone
I was almost home..."

Ways to be Wicked
Lone Justice (written by Tom Petty)
Honey tell me why you smile
When you see me hurt so bad
Tell me what I did to you babe
That could make you act like that
Yes I've been your fool before babe
And I probably will again
You ain't afraid to let me have it
You ain't afraid to stick it in
Yeah you know so many ways to be wicked
But you don't know one little thing about love
Yeah I can take a little pain
I could hold it pretty well
I can watch your little eyes light up
When you're walkin me through hell
Yes I've been your fool before, babe
And I probably will again
You ain't afraid to let me have it
You ain't afraid to stick it in
Yeah you know so many ways to be wicked
But you dont know one little thing about love

Down at the Twist and Shout
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
Well I never have wandered down to New Orleans
Never have drifted down a bayou stream
But I heard that music on the radio
And I swore some day I was gonna go
Down Highway 10 past Lafayette
To Baton Rouge and I won't forget
To send you a card with my regrets
'Cause I'm never gonna come back home
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
They got a alligator stew and a crawfish pie
A golf storm blowin' into town tonight
Livin on the delta's quite a show
They got hurricane parties every time it blows
And here up north it's a cold cold rain
And there ain't no cure for my blues today
Except when the paper says: Beausoleil is coming into town
Baby let's go down
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
Bring your mama, bring your papa, bring your sister too
They got lots of music and lots of room
When they play you a waltz from 1910
You gonna feel a little bit young again
Well you learned to dance with your rock'n'roll
You learned to swing with a do-si-do
But you learn to love at the fais-so-do
When you hear a little Jolie Blon
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
Happy Mardi Gras!

Bruce is quite the storyteller isn't he? I've been a fan for as long as I can remember. I wrote on the old board, the first SK book I picked up was The Stand, The beginning was an excerpt of Jungleland. You could say Bruce introduced me to Stephen and Stephen had me from hello.

Don't Let The Rains Come Down by the Serendipity Singers
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
Oh, yes, my roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
There was a crooked man and he had a crooked smile
Had a crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile
Had a crooked cat and he had a crooked mouse
They all lived together in a crooked little house
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
Oh, yes, my roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
Well, this crooked little man and his crooked little smile
Took his crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile
Bought some crooked nails and a crooked little bat
Tried to fix his roof with a rat-tat-tat-tat-tat
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
Oh, yes, my roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
Now this crooked little man and his crooked cat and mouse
They all live together in a crooked little house
Has a crooked door with a crooked little latch
Has a crooked roof with a crooked little patch
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
Oh, yes, my roofs got a hole in it and I might drown
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
Ah, ha, oh, no, don't let the rain come down
My roofs got a hole in it
My roofs got a hole in it and I....might....drown

Hi,
Great vid, Pat, thankee.
I notice that George Dubya's guitar advisor failed to teach him to count up to three, and made his G chord a semi-tone sharp and out of tune.
But wait, aren't ALL his 'advisors' a little sharp and out of tune?
And isn't the 'new boss' for the Republicans a purveyor of poor potato products?

Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts
Bob Dylan
"The festival was over and the boys were all planning for a fall
The cabaret was quiet except for the drilling in the wall
The curfew had been lifted and the gambling wheel shut down
Anyone with any sense had already left town
He was standing in the doorway looking like the Jack of Hearts."

And so the story goes
they wore the clothes
They said the things
to make it seem improbable
The whale of a lie
like they hope it was
And the Goodmen of Tomorrow
Had their feet in the wallow
And their heads of Brawn
were nicer shorn
And how they bought their positions with saccharin and trust
And the world was asleep
to our latent fuss
Sighing, the swirl through the streets
Like the crust of the sun
The Bewlay Brothers
In our Wings that Bark
Flashing teeth of Brass
Standing tall in the dark
Oh, And we were Gone
Hanging out with your Dwarf Men
We were so turned on
By your lack of conclusions
I was Stone and he was Wax
So he could scream,
and still relax, unbelievable
And we frightened the small children away
And our talk was old
and dust would flow
Thru our veins and Lo!
it was midnight
Back o' the kitchen door
Like the grim face
on the Cathedral floor
And the solid book we wrote
Cannot be found today
And it was Stalking time
for the Moonboys
The Bewlay Brothers
With our backs on the arch
In the Devil-may-be-here
But He can't sing about that
Oh, And we were Gone
Real Cool Traders
We were so Turned On
You thought we were Fakers
Now the dress is hung,
the ticket pawned
The Factor Max that proved the fact
Is melted down
And woven on the edging of my pillow
Now my Brother lays upon the Rocks
He could be dead, He could be not
He could be You
He's Camelian, Comedian, Corinthian and Caricature
"Shooting-up Pie-in-the-Sky"
The Bewlay Brothers
In the feeble and the Bad
The Bewlay Brothers
In the Blessed and Cold
In the Crutch-hungry Dark
Was where we flayed our Mark
Oh, and we were Gone
Kings of Oblivion
We were so Turned On
In the Mind-Warp Pavilion
Lay me place and bake me Pie
I'm starving for me Gravy
Leave my shoes, and door unlocked
I might just slip away
Just for the Day, Hey!
Please come Away, Hey!

Dreadlock Holiday (10 CC)
I was walkin down the street
Concentratin on truckin right
I heard a dark voice beside of me
And I looked round in a state of fright
I saw four faces one mad
A brother from the gutter
They looked me up and down a bit
And turned to each other
I say
I dont like cricket oh no
I love it
I dont like cricket oh no
I love it
Dont you walk thru my words
You got to show some respect
Dont you walk thru my words
`cause you aint heard me out yet
Well he looked down at my silver chain
He said Ill give you one dollar
I said youve got to be jokin man
It was a present from me mother
He said I like it I want it
Ill take it off your hands
And youll be sorry you crossed me
Youd better understand that youre alone
A long way from home
And I say
I dont like reggae no no
I love it
I dont like reggae oh no
I love it
Dont you cramp me style
Dont you queer on me pitch
Dont you walk thru my words
`cause you aint heard me out yet
I hurried back to the swimming pool
Sinkin pina coladas
I heard a dark voice beside me say
Would you like something harder
She said Ive got it you want it
My harvest is the best
And if you try it youll like it
And wallow in a dreadlock holiday
And I say
Dont like jamaica oh no
I love her
Dont like jamaica oh no
I love her oh yea
Dont you walk thru her words
You got to show some respect
Dont you walk thru her words
`cause you aint heard her out yet
I dont like cricket

"La Colombe" / "The Dove" (Jacques Brel)
"Why all these bugles crying
for squads of young men drilled
To kill and to be killed
and waiting by this train
Why the orders loud and hoarse,
why the engine's groaning cough
As it strains to drag us off
into the holocaust
Why crowds who sing and cry
and shout and fling us flowers
And trade their right for ours
to murder and to die
The dove has torn her wings so no more songs of love
We are not here to sing, we're here to kill the dove
Why has this moment come
when childhood has to die
When hope shrinks to a sigh
and speech into a drum
Why are they pale and still,
young boys trained overnight
Conscripts forced to fight
and dressed in grey to kill
These rain clouds massing tight,
this trainload battle bound
This moving burial ground
sent thundering toward the night
Why statues towering brave
above the last defeat
Old word and lies repeat
across the new made grave
Why the same still birth
that victory always brought
These hoards of glory bought
by men with mouths of earth
Dead ash without a spark
where cities glittered bright
For guns probe every light
and crush it in the dark
And why your face undone
with jagged lines of tears
That gave in those first years
all peace I ever won
Your body in the gloom,
the platform fading back
Your shadow on the track,
a flower on a tomb
And why these days ahead
when I must let you cry
And live prepared to die
as if our love were dead
The dove has torn her wings so no more songs of love
We are not here to sing, we're here to kill the dove."

Starman by David Bowie
Goodbye love
Didnt know what time it was the lights were low oh how
I leaned back on my radio oh oh
Some cat was layin down some rock n roll lotta soul, he said
Then the loud sound did seem to fade a ade
Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase ha hase
That werent no d.j. that was hazy cosmic jive
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows its all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
I had to phone someone so I picked on you ho ho
Hey, thats far out so you heard him too! o o
Switch on the tv we may pick him up on channel two
Look out your window I can see his light a ight
If we can sparkle he may land tonight a ight
Dont tell your poppa or hell get us locked up in fright
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows its all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
Starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds
Theres a starman waiting in the sky

I dedicate this song to AmandaRose... I've been on a Bowie kick of late in case it isn't obvious.

Starman by David Bowie
Goodbye love
Didnt know what time it was the lights were low oh how
I leaned back on my radio oh oh
Some cat was layin down some rock n roll lotta soul, he said
Then the loud sound did seem to fade a ade
Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase ha hase
That werent no d.j. that was hazy cosmic jive
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows its all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
I had to phone someone so I picked on you ho ho
Hey, thats far out so you heard him too! o o
Switch on the tv we may pick him up on channel two
Look out your window I can see his light a ight
If we can sparkle he may land tonight a ight
Dont tell your poppa or hell get us locked up in fright
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows its all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
Starman waiting in the sky
Hed like to come and meet us
But he thinks hed blow our minds
Theres a starman waiting in the sky
Hes told us not to blow it
Cause he knows its all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie

The forcast for 38 degrees and rain has changed to 30 degrees and 4-6 inches of snow!:eek2::biggrin2:
Ahhhh, it's a marshmallow world in the winter,
When the snow comes to cover the ground.
It's the time for play, it's a whipped cream day,
I wait for it the whole year round!
Those are marshmallow clouds being friendly,
In the arms of the evergreen trees;
And the sun is red like a pumpkin head,
It's shining so your nose won't freeze!
The world is your snowball, see how it grows,
That's how it goes, whenever it snows.
The world is your snowball just for a song,
Get out and roll it along!
It's a yum-yummy world made for sweethearts,
Take a walk with your favorite girl.
It's a sugar date, so what if spring is late,
In winter it's a marshmallow world!
It's a marshmallow day in the winter,
When the snow comes to cover the ground.
It's the time for play, it's a whipped cream day,
And we wait for it the whole year round!
Just you remember that,
Those are marshmallow clouds being friendly,
In the arms of the evergreen trees;
And the sun is red like a pumpkin head,
It's shining so your nose won't freeze!
You must remember that,
The world is your snowball, see how it grows,
That's how it goes whenever it snows.
The world is your snowball just for a song,
Get out and roll it along!
It's a yum-yummy world made for sweethearts,
Take a walk with your favorite girl.
It's a sugary date, so what if spring is late,
In winter it's a marshmallow world...
In winter it's a marshmallow world...
In winter it's a marshmallow world...

Hi,
Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris - 'Love Hurts'.
I know it's not the original (Everly Brothers maybe?) but for me it's the definitive version - I defy anyone not to be moved by it.

Hot Fun in the Summertime, Sly and the Family Stone.
I spent the morning registering my daughter for her summer camp. The guy in line behind me was doing the same, fresh from his workout and covered in sweat, smelling like his gym clothes had dried in the locker over the weekend. :barf: (Thanks, Ms. Mod and Jordan, for the puking emoticon!!!)
