Hi,

Yet another old thread that I think we need revived here in our shiny new playground, so a favourite to kick it off -

'In the end, we can only find peace in our human lives by accepting the will of the universe'.

A few that come directly to mind...

" 'Tis strange - but true; for truth is always stranger than fiction if it could be told." ~~ Lord Byron

and my favorite:

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened. ~~ Douglas Adams

My buddy has a tee-shirt that says, "Don't worry... I'm a professional".

The funny part of this being his shirt, was this was the guy I hired to take about a half inch off of the bottom of a nearly 100 year old cast iron radiator. We had to have it removed, because we had just remodeled and the floor had a new layer on top of the old, so the radiator wouldn't have connected with the pipe coming through the floor anymore. He took it off, by getting a hold of a grinder, which had to have the guard removed to fit the large concrete cutting disc in, and he held the grinder to each of the individual feet of the radiator. He was blasting himself with metal dust and debris (not even wearing eye protection or a breathing mask), and he told me later that he felt like he had blood in his mouth, because of the taste of the metal he kept sneezing out of his face and choking on the rest of the night.

He got the job done. Although I wanted to take a video of it at the time and put it on utube as "the WRONG way" to do something. If he slipped an inch, his thumb would have been grinded off within tenths of a second. He had to press down the safety switch on the grinder to get it to go, which was seriously less than 2 inches from the grinding blade.

He has another teeshirt that says, "Ted Kennedy has killed more people with his car than I have with my gun."

Hahaha...

When I say that she played
with me, for the first time in my

with me, like a kid might play

Well, if this was a sane culture,
I mean, and kids were allowed

part of playing, like God

One day A woman I was having a conversation with brought up the concept of "Warrior Spirits". She explained it was the pinnacle of what humans can reach spiritually, and it's what every ascended master has as a base.

-- M Warrior Spirit? Mmmm. Oh, I have one of those...

-- H You can't! You wouldn't be here if you did, they aren't of this plain anymore, and they aren't something you can pick to be...

-- M Well, where do they go then? They gotta go somewhere?

And besides, time is just a form of increasing repetition. Like, a bunch of cups that all get bigger by the drops or rain filling them over a storm. It's not _exactly_ just evolution... And I see no way for the the energies of the universe and the battles of the ones who are the holders of those energies to go on forever without reincarnation, and a good rescrambling of our backgrounds and our histories and positions with no inherent memory other than instincts, and love.

Eh, maybe love is just an instinct. Maybe that's how we are 'picked'. (And this was to the woman that was only interested in flirting if we were using the high speech to do it with. =o)

Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."I been sayin' that **** for years. And if you heard it, that meant your ass. I never gave much thought to what it meant. I just thought it was some cold-blooded **** to say to a mother****er before I popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some **** this mornin' made me think twice. See, now I'm thinkin', maybe it means you're the evil man, and I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or, it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that **** ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. ou will need to know the difference between Friday and a fried egg. It's quite a simple difference, but an important one. Friday comes at the end of the week, whereas a fried egg comes out of a chicken. Like most things, of course, it isn't quite that simple. The fried egg isn't properly a fried egg until it's been put in a frying pan and fried. This is something you wouldn't do to a Friday, of course, though you might do it on a Friday. You can also fry eggs on a Thursday, if you like, or on a cooker. It's all rather complicated, but it makes a kind of sense if you think about it for a while.

Not particularly deep or anything, like some of the quotes on here, but still one of my favourites from Pygmalion. the other being:

Higgins: "Have you ever met a man of good humour where women are concerned?"

Hmmm... And I was just comming in here to post quotes direct from the mouth of Lucifer. To kind of show how badly he is an insult to everything, even himself... =)

"Well, who cares about you." -- Lucifer speaking to Uriel the day after she went home with me.

Hehe. The only religion I used to really have, was that heaven only real in the form of reincarnation. Death was obviously just a cog in the wheel of time, something that every living creature will need to face in the end. Reincarnation is kind of clear, when you look at the strength of the loved ones in your life, and the way meetings are never just left to chance. I also believed in magic like a child would, knowing there was always more than we allowed ourselves to see around every corner. Magic is as simple as picking up a penny for luck, or wishing a blessing to a loved one on a star in the early evening. That can be real, just because you believe it is, and there is nothing blocking that type of magic from happening.

One day I started really hearing the old songs, and hearing the things people said that didn't exactly fit in to this world, or the way we naturally use our voices for deeper meanings than even intended. So don't be afraid if I toss the term 'heaven' around a bit, as there's obviously something there.

Michael throws Lucifer around like a rag-doll, putting him exactly where someone stronger will know just what to do with him. Michael knows the heart and mind of God, as he does the will of God. Whenever you need strength, you can call upon him, and he will help you face your challenge.

And as far as it goes sir, don't you hear more of a 'Caterwauling of Cthulhu'?

The Battle of Termopylae resulted with Xerces and the emense Persian Army invading the defending King Leoniada of Sparta and his fierce well trained Spartans of few that held them off. It has become a symbol of courage against overwheming odds. Better known most recently as the plot of the movie 300.

Xerces asks Leoniada to join him by offering the kingship of all Greece. Leoniadas answers:

"If you had any knowledge of the nobel things of life, you would refrain from coveting other's possesions; but for me to die for Greece is better that to be the sole ruler over the people of my race."

Then Xerces asks Leoniada more forcefully to surrender arms. To this Leonidas gave his noted answer:

If you haven't read them they are poem/stories written by a cat (mehitabel) and a cockroach (archy) all written in lower case in a combined effort on a typewriter, and are very funny and insightful at the same time.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our dark that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine as children do. Its not just in some of us; its in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsiously give other people to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Sir I just wanna say thank you . . . You saved my life.

The Princess Bride!! What a great movie. My kids favorite quote from that is "anybody want a peanut?"
