Hi everybody!!!
I'm finally returning to the land of the living today. I've been very sick in bed for a few days with a fever. Just the average run of the mill A2 flu but its a nasty one.

I'll join Cola, Charms, and Dr Fudd with a Pina Colada and soak up some vitamin C in the sun. (It's a whole 4 degrees here today.)

Can someone turn up the Jimmy Buffet music so we can dance to the calypso beat?

Yes this is me in my bikini!!!

Ms Mod, I wonder if it would be possible to change the name of the originator of this thread from mine to Lepplady's?

Susan shuffles into the cantina, bleary-eyed and pale.

It was 31 degrees last night, with strong winds, and the "fan" and "control board" on our heat/AC unit broke yesterday. Of course, the "parts" where not readily available, so our AC guy said, "Bundle up tonight." :glare:

At 1:00 a.m., the burglar alarm went off - we think due to the quick drop in temperature and "window shrinkage." My heart was beating so quickly I knew I'd drop dead any second.

I then began stewing about a girl at my daughter's school who's been bullying her, and fantasizing about the various ways I'd get the 8-year-old terrorist alone at an upcoming birthday party and tell her something that would make her blood run cold (steely Clint Eastwood look, paired with "You keep messing with my daughter and........").

Soooooo, I'd like an Irish decaf coffee, and could you make that a double?

I'm not trying to nose into your business, or his. I'm wondering because I might need to hire somebody at some point, depending on how well I do, and I'm just not sure how to go about it. Do I hire a friend or go through an employment agency of some sort?
How'd it happen for you?

In honor of LeppLady, The original proprietor of The Cuppa Joe Cantina.

If you're anything like me, you need a nice stiff cuppa Joe to start the day. So here it is. The Cuppa Joe Cantina. Come on in, step up to the counter and have a seat. The coffee's hot, the biscuts are fresh, and everything's on the house.

I'll be in the booth by the window reading the morning paper. If anybody wants to join me for some chit chat, well, that would be just fine.

and probably a few other things that I can't think of at the moment :smile2:Wow! If I had somebody to do all that for me, my life would be a whole lot more productive. Just today, I spent most of the morning on the phone making arrangements for photo sessions and graduation stuff for my son. Though, to be honest, I'd probably do that myself even if I did have an assistant. A kid only graduates once.
I also had to make arrangements to euthanize one of our cats. The poor thing is a wretched beast that suffers horribly with a skin fungus she just can't shake. She's chewed herself bald and gouged out holes in her skin from the itch. I just can't bear to watch her suffer. The vet has treated her time and time again, but she just can't shake it. Some cats are susseptible, the vet says, and she's one of them.
I'll go with her to the vet and stay with her every second so that she knows she's loved, but making the arrangements is a phone call I could have lived without making.
Same thing with making other personal arrangements. I've got a few health issues that require fairly regular doctor's visits (diabetes, heart valve issues, etc), and... well, to be honest, I might be the most disorganized person I know. I'm terrible about arranging my schedule. If I had somebody who could take care of making those arrangements, I'd be able to spend a whole lot more time getting some work done.
I'm just an ordinary shmuck, so it's rather abstract to think of having somebody do all these kinds of things for me. I'll tell you, though, I like the idea. A lot.

It was more of a nuisance storm than a problem. Don't know what the official accumulation was but I'd guess about 6 inches. It happened during the night and was done by time for the morning commute. Got another inch or so last night but the sun is shining today. As far as being "okay" with it, that's another thing. :smile2: I'm still checking out real estate ads in AZ as it's hazardous to my emotional health to be in a winter climate. I've been eyeballing this beautiful fellow for a long time as a stud for mares of the same breed I hope to own one day soon. He's one of the few approved breeding stallions in this country.
In a remarkable twist of fate, his owners have put him up for sale. :wow: I'd LOVE to buy him but he costs as much as my house. Literally. :eek2: I doubt I'll sell enough books in time to buy him before somebody else does, so I'll just look at his picture wistfully, and call whoever his new owners turn out to be for breeding when I do pick up some mares.

He is a purdy one! When you get him, I will see to the shoeing if you need me to.If only, Cowboy, you'd be hired on the spot.

I've got it all worked out. This guy pulls down 1,500 for stud fees and easily breeds an average of once a week... he does his job once and it can serve the purpose for as many as ten different mares... so that's a fairly conservative estimate. And since he's one of the FEW approved stallions in the country, there's definitely the demand for his services. He'd pay for himself in ten months (at 1,500). Seven and a half at 2g. And that's without adding in shows and exhibitions, less care and vet bills. It evens out. He'd pay for himself many times over in just a few years, and he's only 8 years old now, so it's not like he's at the end of his useful days now.
And the whole time, I'd have the privilege and pleasure of caring for a creature as magnificent as this.

Thankee for that, Gelata, great!

It's my son's (David) 27th birthday today so a certain amount of partying is being enjoyed here before Celtic play Barcelona tonight. Good to see you, Kim, but I'm sorry you've not recovered your voice yet.

Thanks, Susan. We're definitely living in the broke-down palace these days LOL. Fortunately he didn't have a fracture after all, "just" a ruptured ankle tendon. He's in a walking cast that looks like a ginormous ski boot.
Everyone's good thoughts are much appreciated; I would like to find my lost voice, quit coughing etc. & get back to work!

BE WELL, EVERYONE!!!

Hell yes, I'll second that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone!! Hope you all are having a great day. I saw the first robin of the season today and the Canadian Geese are flocking northward again! Spring must just be around the bend.

Cowboy, tell your little guy scars are better than tattoos because they have a better story. Hope he's feeling better.

Is anyone thirsty? Look what I found at the grocery store!
I think everyone in the store thought I was nuts taking pictures of the inventory with my cell phone.
I'll just put these in the refrigerator and get them nice and cold.

*Wolf limps into the Cantina, he is trying his best to stay off his right front paw*

Phew! I am glad last week is done and over with, I hope this week is better. My g/f's mother past last thursday morning, I have been busy staying close to her. I took a good chunk out of my thumb saturday night while at work. I ended up at the hospital, no stitches due to the way I cut my thumb. I tried to filet it :eek2: Which made me go home early, and today I am going to be late to work due to an appointment follow up for it.
So, my darn boat is full... *flops down by a window, he licks his right paw then looks around.* So, I also got drunk saturday night, got jealous for the first time because so dick was hitting on my g/f. What I did, I simply touched her thigh and started to whisper a poem in her ear. Turns out, she hates the guy because of what he tried before I came down. So my poem just made her even more happy, I was such a goof ball dork that night. I wish I could remember the poem I whispered to her, it was one of my own.

Well, hey! Look at that, my jaw and tongue got away from me. I am sorry for the long post. Just letting you all know what is going on with me and why I haven't pawed in lately. *Wolf yawns and curls up under the window.*

I just wanted to say hello and this brief remark: I LOVE DUMA KEY. I know most of you have already finished it, but I'm so busy these days that I can only read a few pages a night. Anyway, I love the story and the style, and everytime Mr. Wireman says some Spanish words, it sounds very funny to me. Ok .....Go ahead and hate me for my weather; it's beautiful and sunny-perfect dirt digging temps!!!But we did our time with the bad stuff(due for some good stuff) and ,I for one, am feeling lucky to see oranges on the trees in the yard!
So how's every little thing with you all?
Carny

Good to see you back Carny.

Nice weather here too, now that the rains have stopped.
Gardens out back of the Cantina can use some digging:smile2: Forgot- its Cyber, so the flowers and trees plant themselves and we sit back and enjoy.

I know, Carny, isn't the weather gorgeous? The flowering trees are in bloom, as are the forsythia, camellias, daffodils, roses, geraniums etc. A house a few miles away that's going to be torn down has a tree laden with oranges--makes me want to climb the fence & get some.

Good Morning, Everyone!
Thanks for the yummy peanut butter cookies, Mstay. I gave cookies up for Lent, but that doesn't count in cyberspace, does it? Glad you missed the snow, Ms Mod--you know we worry about you driving between the snowbanks in that tiny car.
I'm going back to work today (Tue) after having been off 2+ weeks with pneumonia; wish me well!

Hi,

Good Whatever Everyone!!!

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Kim, was worried about you. And nice to hear that Spring is coming to North Cal., the daffodils are coming out here. And good wishes to all those worldwide (including the south of England) still in the grip of bleak midwinter.

Good morning Tet-mates!
I'll have a coffee to go. I've got all sorts of fun stuff to do today, like interview for a job, get some bloodwork done, have a mammogram and grab a breakfast bagel while I'm out. I'll make up for it with salads the rest of the week.
Wish me luck on all fronts!
Anybody got lunch requests? I can pick up while I'm out.

You will have prayers from me to your family and yourself.

*Enters the Cantina and looks around to find that he will be going back to back stoop again. He isn't feeling well*

I have been too hot lately and it is driving me nuts. I am starting to get sick, but doc's say I am healthy. Thumb still being a pain, it is going to take double the time to heal since the work I do doesn't really allow fingers to heal quickly. I am a dish washer at a casino in Minden, NV. I tough it out every night though, then I come home to crash.

Mother Wolf coming back soon, eh? Gosh, sure do miss her. I will take a oj to go, I am taking off for work.

*Paws to the back stoop to enjoy a few moments of peace and fresh air. Then he will go*

Good Morning, Everyone!
The weather in northern UK sound terrible (winds up to 90 mph?)--stay safe everyone. In fact, stay inside the Cantina until the wind lets up.
Hot tea with lemon, please. I was so touched, when I went back to work yesterday, people had actually missed me & someone gave me a chrysanthemum. :smile2:

Shall we have a St Patty's Day Party on Monday? Everything green. Green beer, ice cream, milk, coffee(?), tea( it's already green), green rice and mashed potatoes too.

Take care all.
