Having to use the vBulletin default style has given me a renewed appreciation for all that Jordan and Brian have done to make the Message Board more user-friendly and visually pleasing. They're still working to resolve the issues that necessitated going to the default style and hopefully things will soon be back to "normal." :-)

I've been watching and wondering over the MB changes for a few days now.
This is fun, I feel like we are on a trek through the unexplored reaches of cyberspace, "Oh Pioneers" 'n stuff.
Hats off, and I say thankee to all you who engineer and pilot this ship, and to him which built the rocket that makes it go.
Hey I'm on cold meds so it's aalll good. :smile2:

Isn't the new vBulletin 4 software wonderful? We put it up on our own site a wee bit ahead of this site and I've been learning to work the admin functions in this new variety. It's a bit of a learning curve where the social groups are involved. I'm not quite sure yet how to tell which social groups of mine have new posts...

Anyways...

I got UtD with a gift card that I got for Christmas from one of my coworkers for offering to work that day. She was happy that she could have the day with her family so she spoiled me with chocolate and a nice gift card. A few other staffers got involved as well. I'm looking forward to reading UtD when I have a bit more time and I think my hand can deal with holding it. It's massive...

I'll have a couple of cold Cokes to go please...

Well, this design is terrible, IMO.
No thanks buttons, no welcome mats, statistics are lost from the profiles...the social gropus are hard to follow etc, etc...

Just really bad, to be blunt.

Well, I guess I have to be thankful for what I have. My computer system at work was changed on Thursday, and I can no longer see the photos in KITTENS thread!:glare: Most of the websites I visited while on a break are banned. THANK GOD i still have this site!!

Good Morning to all. Is everyone adjusting to the new feel and look? It's only Tuesday, but there will be a Pizza delivery today at noon. I think we all need some comfort food. Cyber free calories, so dig in, unlimited supply.
Hot herbal tea this morning, tad chilly my way. For those enjoying a "winter wonderland" be careful in the snowstorms. Off to bean bag central. I see many have brought their books and are enjoying the warm fire and comfy bean bags. All are welcome to join..............

I was hoping that the board would be back to normal, but this is ok, still keeps us in touch. Kinda like going from a Blackberry to a walkie talkie lol. Anyway, yesterday was terrible. I was sitting here at my computer when I kept hearing water dripping. I looked everywhere for the source, I finally found it... it was my bed. One of the cylinders on my husbands side broke and 55 gallons of water had flowed everywhere. The liner did not hold the water, it failed. Everything was soaked. I had to take the entire bed apart and take it outside to dry. (Thank God for the sun! and my trusty shop vac) I had to search to find a replacement cylinder for it but did eventually. It took me almost 8 hours to clean up that mess. Hopefully today I will be able to just relax a bit, I only got 50 pages read yesterday so I need to make up for it today.

The new software is something that takes a while to get used to, BUT it is the PEOPLE who make this place what it is, not a few buttons. I think if we all remember that, we will be just fine. I'm just glad to be able to come in here and chat with you all again.

chill peeps---- I am sure Jordan brian --MMOD and all got a nasty surprise-- just posted this in the new group for new forum stuff--

found a new group messages --- when i tried the normal new forum messages--- i looked on top toolbar and there was a new group messages that displayed the groups with last message on em--- hey Shiat happens---

in technology you try to prevent things of this nature---- but understand that if skmb did not upgrade they would be very very exposed by not being on the supported v bulletin sware--- so it had to be done---

we can build again give em some time i am sure we will get back most if not all of the customizations in the future!!! Point is we can build again (in the future I would suspect) but it is not that different IMO beside slosing the profile cusimizations and thank welcome buttons etc.... that is the risk you take when u customize off the shelf sware the owner (v bullitin) does not have to concern themselves (they should) with ensuring custimizat

lets not forget SK giving us this gr8 playground to lpay in and make friends ---so if we have some bumps in the road it is part of the journey!!!
ion

So as we go into the new year--- lets give thanks for still having this best website and SK putting in the $$ and resources to support it for us!!!! So thanks to all the Jordans, Brians and Marshas for another gr8 year on the board----

The social forums are not shown or I have overlooked them. This is my 4th visit to the new MB--and it always said you MAY NOT POST and there was no box at the bottom to use. Yet I could tell people were posting and I could read what was posted.

There is no indication of how many people are viewing a particular subject, although I don't count that a high priority. I guess it's mostly the Welcome and Thanks buttons.

Also, I don't know how to view my personal page or whatever it's called. I was required to log in, where I never logged in on the old version.

These aren't really complaints. I just want to learn the new system.

I am kinda disgusted today. I went to the school yesterday and hit another brick wall. Financial aid had approved certain classes for me to take but they canceled one of the sections. Now I have to go back and fight to have a class changed. I am mad as hell. It doesn't seem fair that they would cut my aid when they don't even offer the class I need. I replaced it with another class that is exactly the same amount of units and in the same exact category, but that is not good enough.

I'd like to add some Art Tea to the inventory. On my last search for the perfect dragon pearl jasmine tea I ran across this wonderful looking stuff. I haven't tried it yet. Anyone who cares to join me is welcomed... or welcome, which ever is correct.

http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa219/plcarmstrong/arttea-2.gif

Here's what it is, I had no idea such a thing existed but I'm glad it does. One must resist the urge to drop a goldfish in there because it would be mean to the fish and prolly ruin the tea.

Fresh and tender tea leaves are hand sewn into a bundle with of flowers wrapped inside that “bloom” as they steep. This beautiful tea is a masterpiece to our sight and exquisite to our taste. It takes artful presentation to a new level. What a stunning idea for decorating your table, delighting your guests, and serving a quality cup of tea. A glass teapot is the ideal tea-ware to show off this tea. Allow this blooming art tea to blossom in your teapot when brewed without the infuser or filter.

Thought I'd throw open the door and welcome all the newbies to come visit the Ka-Tet Cantina. A Cyber cafe- a place to gather, share a part of our lives, and spread happy thoughts.

Since it is Wednesday- it is Pizza Day. Every variety you can imagine and all cyber calorie free. So dig in.

I'll take my slice and a large glass of herbal tea and head off to bean bag central ( a little corner in the Cantina filled with bean bags and welcoming Tet-Mates)

I am grieving the loss of my baby but celebrating the life of a full grown man that I raised from an infant. It is rough on me but the best possible thing for him. Putting him on that airplane was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I am anxiously awaiting his phone call this morning. I have neglected my school work and find myself with 2 exams today that I am not ready for. but I can make the scores up later in the semester. I feel as if a piece of me is gone and I guess it is. He took a part of my heart with him when he left. You did good, mom! :smile2:
One of the most beautiful (to me) poems about parents & children is from The Prophet

On Children
Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

Good morning everyone. Hope all is good and welcome back Ms Mod - good to see you.

I posted something in another thread but I wanted to post it here too. I just have to share it and I hope you don't mind :sleepy:

"Okay, I just have to tell someone about the movie Precious! Has anyone seen it? I went and saw it on Friday and it was a very emotional experience. This movie is not for the faint of heart... it is without a doubt the toughest most heart breaking movie I have EVER seen!! My heart was beating so fast the whole time and when I thought I'd seen/heard the worst, it just got worse. I cried and cried and had to hold my friend's hand throughout and afterwards I was left physically exhausted. I spent the rest of the evening contemplating (sp?) my own life and wrote many many pages in my journal. I also had an instant urge to text my closest friends and my family, to let them know how much I love them and how priviliged I am to have them in my life.

It was an emotional rollercoaster ride to watch Precious but it was SO worth it. Mo'Nique got a Golden Globe for her role as the mother and man did she deserve that!! I really hope she gets the Oscar too!! The whole film is very believable and I have to keep reminding myself that it was 'just' a movie! But then again, you just know that this is life for some people out there. That this is reality.

I recommend everyone to go see it - as long as you are prepare to be moved and touched!!

Thanks for listening."

Hi. I'm not around here much anymore, due to life overtaking things. Good news/bad news.

Good news. Got a raise at work last week, a whole buck an hour more, even with a slightly dodge-y performance review.

Bad news. My husband was in a car accident that made the news this morning. He's okay. The car needs some work, but the insurance will get it done. (Deductible... ouch.) Hey everyone, I am still alive. I have just been bogged down with school work. But I have some good news, my niece gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Monday afternoon and I got to be in the room with her while she had her. It was the most incredible experience I have ever witnessed. I have been on the delivering end 3 times but never on the receiving end. I will post some pics of her when I can. I am hoping for a good day today. I know I did not do well on my last math (statistics) test and I have to go to that class today. I already feel the horrible anxiety. I am disappointed in myself because I studied for that stupid test and still did poorly. Sometimes I think maybe I am too old and stupid to compete with the younger generation. I may be wasting my time. :dunno: I am doing my best, but it does not seem to be good enough.

That statement about your horse biting sure brings back memories! I've met one horse in my life that bit.( if you turned away from him) He did such a superb job of it, he'd leave you black and blue.( particularly shoulders and fanny) He was an appaloosa stallion on my Aunt and Uncles farm aptly named Bandito! *Strolling in calmly with a smile on my face*

I've had such a nice weekend and my Monday has been pretty good so far. It was my younger brother's 30th yesterday and the small family was gathered for cake and hot chocolate. It was so cool hanging out with my nephews.... they are SOOO cute!! And Milo (the youngest) just loves being in his aunt's arms :biggrin2: Ian has had a period where he didn't like physical contact but yesterday he was all about hugging and holding hands and when it was time for me to leave, he gave me lots of kisses! I get all soft in my knees  He's been through so many different tests this past year trying to diagnose him - they've been around ADHD but they are more likely to diagnose him as Autistic with ADHD symptoms. Either way, he's just adorable if you ask me. Yes, he's probably not at the same level as other 2 and a half year old's but who cares. He's special to us

So it's been a good weekend and I'm looking forward to one coming up ahead too!! My flat mate from London is home for the weekend and we're meeting up. Also an American friend I have, who now lives in Stockholm is also in Copenhagen this coming weekend, so I'm meeting up with him too. Haven't seen him in.... oh maybe 5 years!! That's gonna be so cool :cool2:

Okay, to make a short story very long.... I'm just happy! So cheers to all of the above and hallelujah lol. Beer and pepperoni pizza for me, thanks.

Cowboy, TY for the help.....it's only the second time he's done it LOL! I keep letting him go to it and startling him,( clapping hands) hopefully he will associate that particular piece of drywall with the noise.

If he is going to the same spot, place some hot sauce on the drywall.....he will learn his lesson.:smile2:

Cowboy, I have done that....and he likes it! I meant to get some Jalapeno at the grocery (forgot) and try that, hopefully that will phase him. He was eating pebbles out by our pond so, I took an entire bottle of hot sauce and dumped it on them......saw him lick some and go right back to chewing rocks. He is a stubborn one.:eek2:

I tried that when Mack was a puppy- guess what, he loved it and feasted even more on the dry wall:eek2: Finally ended up using some of the sour tasting stuff they use for children who suck their thumbs.

On a better note : Good Morning to all! I think Mother Nature is off her meds again. The big chill is returning to the south tonight.
I'll make it a hot herbal tea and off to bean bean central. All are welcome to join.

Spidey, I will look for the bitter thumb sucking product. I will also try the stuff at the pet store that Speedy mentioned. I haven't tried that yet, because my neighbor mentioned that she tried it on her beagle and the beagle liked it. I know mine likes hot sauce!
