Hile! Just wanted to pop in and say HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND to all my 'tet'.
I'm thinking of starting a thread about True Blood. You know how its always a mystery about who is doing what to whom etc., maybe a thread for predictions or insights? What do you think and TB fans in the cantina? Good or Lame? I just am yearning for a good thread that isn't so...

You can do it! Some days it will take everything you have to make yourself go to class, but if you put one foot in front of the other and keep focused, you will make it. (I know whereof I speak; I went back to school as an adult for nine semesters, working full-time and going to school full-time.)
You can totally do this.

I need a bottle of Stoli, no lid.
I'm being screwed over at work. Two distinct possibilities. The first possibility is that there is a bonus for the managers who can cut their staffing costs. I make 25% more than the two supervisors below me who are getting my hours, which they don't even want. I might be the one being sacrificed in order to get a bonus.
Possibility number two might be that something discriminatory is going on but they are being careful about it. I had a bad allergic reaction at work less than two weeks ago to someone else's snack - peanuts. I have never asked for anything other than for people to just TELL ME if they have eaten nuts so I could give them some room, and to maybe wash their hands before they handle anything else. That is all. This time the manager said she was going to talk to the staff. I have a sneaky feeling that some of the long timers (20 to 30 years indentured servitude there) protested and pointed out that I have only been there for a few years. I'm worried that I am being pushed out of a job because of my health. No matter how I feel, or what I react to, I have always done my job. It's really only a mild kind of a disability when it comes down to it, but I am afraid they are using my health against me.
The one person that normally tells me everything, one of the assistant managers, was acting kind of strange on Friday when I had to work with her.
I'm the one who would always find a way to fill in and save the day. They've given me some really dirty jobs and I'd do it without hesitation.
This is the treatment I get?
I have asked for a letter of reference so I can find work to supplement my hours. I'm actually hoping to find a job to totally replace that one. I would prefer to be kissed before I am f***ed, ya know...
I'll take any good vibes any of you can spare.

My day off from school today. But not a day off really. I have soooo much to do today. My son broke down last night when taking his friends home. He was 50 miles away, right where his... uh... "father" lives. The radiator hose had sprung a leak and he was low on power steering fluid. Well, Mr. wonderful would not spring for the 15 bucks to fix the car, he tried to rig it. I finally sent AAA after him, I did not want to risk the life of my son getting stranded along side of the freeway where a multitude of things could happen to him. His "father" did nothing but cut a piece of the hose off and reseated it. He told me that the hose was weak, I told him if it is weak then it could burst, could you PLEASE just put a new hose on it, he refused. $15? Really? You sons safety is not worth 15 stupid dollars? :eyebrow::glare::glare:

My day off turned out to be the day from hell. I got a nice early start, got to my first destination and wound up locking my friggin keys in the console of my car. I wrapped them up with my GPS and stuffed them inside. That cost me over an hour. :glare:Thank God my dad was here to bring me my spare set. It just seemed that everything that I tried to do yesterday took 2x as long as it should have. I tried to cram 2 weeks worth of stuff into one day. I wound up getting home from all this bs at 4:15 (I left at 10am) I then did my homework that I put off yesterday until after 8pm. First off, prayers for Ally's mum who needs surgery. I'm sure you're right, those who work in the health area are used to all the speeches we constantly hear when we need you, but it must be hard being a patient or having someone dear... She will do fine, Ally! Prayers!
Secondly, THANK YOU VERY VERY VERRRRRRY MUCH for all the good vibes you sent me these last days for the surgery. That part of me (sorry, boob it is:down:) is feeling quite comfortable. But my right eye is giving me a hard time. They said it was a reaction to atropine or so. They checked my eyes for pressure but they were already fine, but the eye did hurt and cried like a river, so they gave me some drops (can't use the eye too much still, it gets tired and sore).
I did the most idiotic things under anaesthesia. Mum and Gaby had a hard work trying to making me silent. :biggrin2: There was a newly mum on the other bed, and they were all laughing at the silly things I said. And when I cried falsely (like a kid faking), they asked me if I was in pain, I said no. "And then why do you cry?". "Because that's what the anaesthesia does to me", I said. What a dumb... I hate propofol, made my stomack bad (it attacks the liver indeed). All I could think was how M. Jackson would wake up every morning after that "treatment". It's awfulllll!!! All the drugs they put me on a controlled room, they were horrible to say the least.
Anyway, diet, lots of fluids, plenty of rest, antibiotics. I shouldn't use my left arm, but since I'm not in pain I do it. I guess I'll tie it with a scarf later to remind me to stay the hell quiet! :glare: The lump looked benign my doc said. However it went to the patologist.
OK, will come back later for a while. I just wanted to THANK YOU ALL once again for the prayers. The Ka-tet is powerful indeed.

We have a bad fire burning here in Yucaipa. It started yesterday afternoon. Don't know if it is out yet, it wasn't when I went to sleep last night. This is just 4 1/2 short miles from my house and 1 1/2 from my mom. They hit this fire very hard with a massive air strike including bombers and even a DC 10 and helicopters. http://news.lalate.com/2009/08/30/oak-glen-yucaipa-fire/ This is just a few short miles from my home and even closer to my mom. Very scary afternoon yesterday. But we are still here and alive :grinning: It is not as bad as the Station fire that is going on. http://laist.com/2009/08/31/station_fire_update_1230_am.php?gallery0Pic=2 So much devastation. Makes me sick. Plus trying to breathe is difficult. :glare: Hope things are all good with you, I'll take a large fire extinguisher to go this morning. :oo::bat:

Hmmm... it's official as far as I am concerned. I have to find a different job and get the hell out of my current one. I saw one coworker last night, a good person, and she looked so guilty, and then looked like she was going to cry. Her face said more than enough to confirm my suspicions. Something discriminatory is going on and management is covering it up. I'm betting it's related to the last peanut incident. Maybe they have decided that having a nut anaphylactic on staff is too much of a liability, even though they are not supposed to discriminate on the basis of health.
Anyways, it kind of felt like the nails in the coffin were brought out last night at work. Three weeks ago, I was wonder woman to them, and now this.
I'll take any good thoughts because it's job hunt time. :biggrin2: There are better places than that...
Now.... a drink. I think it'll have to be a four-shot latte with vanilla. I need the caffeine quite badly.

Hi,
Good Whatever Everyone !!!
And I trust everyone had a very good weekend and a good week in prospect.
I certainly did and I was at my grand-daughter, Jennifer's, first birthday party on Friday, which was a great party and she was in good form, if a trifle bewildered by the number of people present, but there were some strange little bits of ka that I'd like to tell you about.
When we left our house to go to the party there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky and rainbows have always been regarded as a sign or portent in my very Celtic family.
My daughter, Lisa, said 'That's a present from Mum' and we thought no more of it.
Some hours later my son, David, brought in the cake with it's single candle and, lo and behold, it was decorated with an identical rainbow!
And in conversation David told a story about a fridge that I hadn't thought about for years.
Until Friday morning when I'd been writing about the same story.
And finally, when we left the party it was a full moon shining in a cloudless sky.
You can't make it up, can you?
Hope all is well with you and yours

Hello all, and thanks so much for the birthday wishes. I had a great birthday. I got to see my niece that I have not seen in about 4 years. She is mentally handicapped and has a tendency to be violent so my sister sent her away to live in a group home 6 years ago. Unfortunately they only go and see her twice a year. Once on her birthday, and once around the Christmas holiday. It broke my heart to see her, she did not even recognize me at first. We went and had lunch together on my birthday (hers is the day before mine) and it did my heart good just to have that connection with her again. When we got home we spent the rest of the day watching movies as a family. My husband washed and hand waxed my car for me. I swear I could put my makeup on just looking at the side. :cool2: I miss you all. My time here has really been cut short by school. I seldom find time to keep up with all of the threads, so I have to pick and choose. :bat:

Greetings folks! Yesterday we lost power for four hours. The WHOLE VALLEY was out. They had what they are telling us is a 'circuit failure'. I was in the middle of making soap, but thankfully, I had not opened the lye yet. I picked up where I left off later last night.
What I did do for four hours was read. I read 'The Gunslinger' all the way into the sunset with my back to the sun so I could see the pages with the light that was left. Then, I read the first 1/3 of 'The Drawing of the Three' by candlelight. Now, that's a GREAT way to read SK books. Nothing quite like the flicker of a series of small flames. I had enough candles going that it looked like 'Phantom of the Opera' in my kitchen.
Today I need caffeine, so I do believe I shall take a four-shot latte with loads of vanilla syrup to go!

I'm sorry poisonbat. Just hang onto those good thoughts and feelings when they come by as best you can. When nice things happen, we suck up that good energy so fast, there isn't any to linger and maintain that euphoric state we crave so we need another hit. I understand that. Just try to keep those happy feelings in your memory to draw on. It's tough to do.

Well, I got home from work tonight with the knowledge that I have one day off this week. I'm working for someone else on Thursday now. Tomorrow, I will make soap.
I got a letter of reference from one of the managers, but not the original one. I have a feeling she was holding out on me because she is very corporate and all I am is a human resource to her. The other manager looked like she was going to cry when she handed it to me. She knows there is a chance that I may leave if I find a better offer. I'm hoping first of all to find supplemental employment, but like I said... if the offer is better... Anyways, she wrote me a nice one. Short, but very nice. She also gave me back my original request note with it. Perhaps to keep it from other eyes? Who knows. Anyways, I can now hunt for work with less worries. It helps to have a hard copy of a good reference.
It's late, but I am going to stay up and watch a movie. It may only be Monday, but it IS my Friday night. I think I'll take a chai latte to go, and may you all have a lovely day once this post makes it up!

Whoooa, Poisonbat, we seem to have a few things in common. I remember back in the mid 90s when I was taking a creative writing course in the University and I handed in a short story that my professor liked so much he actually submitted it to be published in a creative writing magazine. When he asked me where I learned to write, I said from every Stephen King short story (Night Shift, Skeleton Crew, N & D), and he gave me the most "are you sh**ting me" look, that I actually burst out laughing. He then went on to say that there are a lot of "better" writers out there and I should get to reading them right away. I said thank you and told I will do that (I did, but SK is still my fave).
What did your professor say when you told her that SK helped in your creative process? :eyebrow:

Hi folks! I slept with strange dreams last night. Of course, falling asleep while watching 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' might have something to do with it. The weather is gorgeous here and I only have a few more shifts until my vacation time starts. The little rotters at work tried to schedule me to work during my vacation, so I left a note reminding them that I am unavailable from Oct 1 -10. No way in hell will I work during my vacation. I don't care how screwed for staff they are. They can get some of those belligerent long-timers to work the ugly shifts. It might do them some good.

Good Morning and Good Day to All! Whew! Looks like we survived the withdrawal symptoms many of us were having yesterday from losing contact with our Tet-Mates. So glad to be back here I could dance like a frog in a blender! I won't. But I am feeling that giddy.

He had installed some new security software updates that didn't seem to be affecting the public side of the Board but were (and still seem to be) affecting the Moderation and Administration sides so had to shut things down for a while to try to get the bugs worked out.

Isn't technology wonderful:eyebrow: And a big thank you out to Jordan for detailing in baby steps what to do if we could not log on. To a dinosaur like me - toss your cookies- means go to pantry and feed all cookies to the birds.
Hope all the moderation and administration problems are solved quickly.

I thought "toss your cookies" was the same as "lose your lunch." I got a chuckle out of it anyway. Now I'll just go slink back to Blondeville. :smile2:

It may be because they're your posts. Mine don't either, but I thought it had something to do with being the Moderator.

No, one of my posts just showed up there. I was getting problems like oops broken link, getting thrown off the web site and Internet Explorer not connected. I just put another anti-virus/security program on my notebook computer. I think it may have something to do with all web sites security. I changed the settings and then a post of mine showed up. My posts have showed up before. And yes, Jordan, I upchucked, I mean cleared my cookies!

Lovely month, October--as dividedgirl said, warm sweaters, hot chocolate, beginning of the holiday season. (Of course it's in the 80s today). And the best part: my daughter's birthday.
