I am a newbie here, and I haven't read all the posts of the thread. But I want to send my best to everyone who struggles.
I am having a stupid non-fight with my long distance non-boyfriend on msn and I am feeling crappy. I need a large latte with loads of sugar.

Glad to see everyone is fine.
We had some incredible thunder storms today, the earth actually shook. And then
the rain lasted for hours. But this is typical June weather in Fla. :smile2:
Stay cool Kim and Cowboy enjoy your vacation!

What happens at Cheyenne Frontier Days? When I was in school at UNC we would get ads for Frontier Days, but I never really knew what it was about. Even though we're south of Denver now, it's still pretty much in striking distance if we wanted to go.
Hmmmmm, I'll have to learn more about it!
All I really remember is horses, picnics, horses, ice cream and horses, but that's all I really wanted anyway, so it was heaven for me.

You have got to go at least once in your life! It is (IMHO) the best rodeo that you will ever see. Always lots going on and make sure if you go that you attend the pancake breakfast on the streets of Cheyenne, it is free and very memorable. The parade is a hoot also and I can't wait to go back someday.

*wanders in for a morning hit of caffeine*
Day off number TWO today. I think I'll take a four-shot latte with lots of vanilla syrup in it today. I have lots to do around here and perhaps I'll dance up a storm later.
It's pouring rain right now, but the forests around here need it. I'd rather have a good soaker once in a while than a forest fire. I live a five-minute walk from the edge of the bush, so if we had a fire on the south side of town and the wind was blowing in the wrong direction, I'd be toast.
Rodeos, huh... I haven't been to one of those since I was a little kid. I loved watching the roping and bull riding, and the chuck wagon races. Great fun.

I was very happy this morning because I'm now on holidays, so I can visit the mb much more often. But the news are so sad... Last night I knew about Farrah Fawcet. But I knew she was ill, so, though it was very sad, it wasn't unfortunatly so surprising.
But now I'm so shocked by the news on Michael Jackson! I can't believe it.
In Spain, and in all Europe, he is really an idol.

Morning all. Large hot coffee please, I need to wake up some. It has been a rough but wonderful weekend. I wont go into details, I'll just say I am glad it is over. I am looking forward to a new week. My son graduates Thursday so this week is prep time for that. I am getting a bit worried about my weight, I am not trying, but I keep losing. I need to find a proper diet to maintain my weight. Mister scale scared me this morning when he told me 130 :eek2: I have to watch it or I can go the wrong way in a hurry. I had my root canal on Friday and spent 6 hours waiting in the dental office. I guess on July 1st the governor is cutting dental benefits to adults holding Dentical. (state offered dental services to low income families) So each and every dentist in this state is booked until the first. Bad news, even after my long visit and $600 later, I still have a toothache. So I guess I will have to just deal with it until Wednesday. :bat:

Greetings from the West.
June's close draws nigh, the yard is crammed with thick clover and bees, and the thermometer hints at the heat about to be unleashed on southern California. We're in a glorious ten-day window of time where you finally understand why the Beach Boys wrote about "Surfing USA" - the closer you get to the beach, the more you just want to rip your clothes off. It's perfect summer weather, all the way through the Fourth and a little beyond.
Anyone up for Malibu?

Anyway, glad to be back, and want to thank you anyone for the support through these past days. I'm hanging there. The good news is I got Internet at home now, so I'll try to be more often while I search for a new job.
I'm stopping for some minutes since tonight my ex-coworkers are throwing a dinner at me, and I'm dealing with baking profiterols for dessert.

Funny you mention the board going todash, LOL! The way I imagine Todash darkness is the way I imagined the red papers from the hypnotism when I gathered them up and tossed them into the bottomless pit, red but fluttering darkness. Almost like doorways, almost like pieces of paper, almost like openings to places better left unseen. Some of them trying to flutter away on a wind not felt. Weird but true! I'm wondering if tomorrow we'll get to touch upon April or if this is going to be a very long process, but I'm feeling pretty confident now that it isn't going to be so bad, so I'm not feeling jittery anymore.
I'm glad the board is up and ri has internet access at home! I'd say that's a good excuse for a drink! Pass the malibu this way, please! Been a long time since I've had one and I'd say it's time! I've been known to whip up some mean blender drinks if anyone is game! :cool2:

Well, I found out why I am still having pain with my tooth. I went to a different dentist yesterday and found out that the first dentist botched my root canal. He went up way way too far and embedded the packing material into my upper jaw bone. This packing in my bone has caused a major infection and has to be surgically removed. I have to see a specialist today and have my gum cut open up by my jaw and have the packing removed. I must say I am scared to death. :eek2::bat:

I had a dentist push the gutta percha and cement up into my jaw when I had part two of a root canal done. Two years later, the infection almost killed me. I had to have emergency oral surgery and they did a MAJOR slice and dice inside my mouth... and it hurt LESS afterward than it did before. I was so happy to have it done.
Don't worry, sweetheart, it's a good surgery and it is better to get rid of the offending tooth than to keep it and potentially lose your life.
The worst thing about it all is that the gutta percha is a natural kind of latex, and I developed a latex allergy. No more rubber gloves (I buy special ones for making soap now) and I have to buy the really expensive condoms instead of the cheap latex ones.
All things considered, I am happy that I went to a different dentist who freaked out and got me into surgery 16 hours later in another city. I am grateful to the surgeon as well because I had never been put under before and he held my hand while he pumped the drugs into the IV.

Hi fellows. I'm watching the Michael Jackson memorial. This is a sad day. I was a die-hard fan back when I was a teenager. His life leaves me with mixed feelings. His musical legacy is amazing, and I'm sure we all will remember him. Then those dark days filled with sad allegations... I don't know. It breaks my heart, he seemed a tortured soul. My thoughts are with his children, family and fans. I really hope he finally has found some peace.

Good morning, folks! I think I'll just start my day with a four-shot latte with lots of vanilla syrup. (Real whole milk and coffee that isn't decaf... I want jet fuel, not a gutless wonder!)
I've had a couple of days off and tonight I go back to work. Oh joy. I used to love my job, but now it grinds my soul into dust. The bean counters took care of that when they stripped the store raw with its staffing and hours, then gave us a lot of hoops we have to jump through. At one point, I was supposed to be training to manage a store, but now I want nothing to do with that end of it. I want to do my work and then walk out the door. I refuse to answer the phone on my days off now. I want to be invisible.
I've got something else brewing but it will be a while before it pays anything. I can't say much more except that I will be working as an editor AND a forum moderator and I am looking forward to it and hoping like crazy it pays well soon, so I can cut back my shifts at the other job to just enough to keep a foot in the door and to keep that handy-dandy staff discount on so many lovely things.

I'll be joining poisonbat in the corner as well. Last night I went to work and the manager had words with me, because apparently, I guessed wrong again. I have had the rules change on what is 'priority' so many times it's making my head spin. Nothing is what it seems. One week, I am told 'A' is priority, the next week it's 'B' or 'C', the week after that it suddenly becomes 'Z', and I was supposed to know that 'Q' is the most important thing of all. I can't bloody win! I don't know what to do with myself. I have to hang in there until I can get an alternate source of income going to replace some of those shifts.
So...

She is well and all is OK. This is a very busy time for her at her job. She multi tasks beyond the norm. Now, she has taken on an additional task. She's been working almost 12 hours a day 6 days a week. Regular position, plus this additional one.

Hi guys. I'm tired of house chores. So I guess I'll be at the bean bag central with an herbal tea.
To make my life even nicer these days, we have new people in the apartment next door who seem to think our walls are thicker, so last night they left -while absent- a radio on all night long with festive music (you try to sleep to the rhythm of reggaeton for instance). :eyebrow: Or they enjoy their love for each other (which is good) but VERY VERY LOUDLY... (and I mean at the point that YOU feel ashamed). :glare: Hello??? Moreover they don't lock the front door, and one of the daughters visiting broke our bell on purpose and voiced to the world why we lock the door if we were so poor bast*** and so. Classy neighbors... Just imagine, trying to live in this hole.
Anyway... grabbing my tea and my Desperation :eyebrow: (the book) and leaving to the peaceful corner.

Hi,
Good whatever everyone !!!
I had a great day yesterday visiting my son and his family, all very well, and Jennifer (10 1/2 moths a coming on apace, not quite walking, but standing and leaning against the sofa dancing, so funny! David and Kareen send their love to the MB and will always remember the support from all of you through their pregnancy and Kareen's previous miscarriage. Also heard that Emma Robson, for those who remember her, is in remission (touch wood) and will be starting school this year, once again, thankee for all the good wishes, prayers etc.
And I got a wonderful surprise - in the few weeks that my phone's been down, David has started a sci-fi novel and it's going very well, he's found a terrfic voice IMO and he's got a great 'what if?'. I've been on at him for years to write and it made my day (hell, my year) to read the first few chapters (written long hand since coffee killed their laptop).
And about the phone - Toots (cat) chewed through the connecting cable and we've had three different replacement phones but none of them have worked. We finally got a visit from Cable Guy yesterday and it transpired that some external link had been taken out by lightning. As we get internet and cable TV down the same cable it had never occurred to us that it couyld be anything other than some internal problem, so FINALLY we have land line facilities again after weeks of hair tearing!
Phew! - that was a long one, I hope all is well with you and yours and everyone is having a great week.
And have a great vacation, Ms Mod, get more retirement practise in and put your feet up LOL

We took the lazy route -- I bought a screened in enclosure that attaches to our patio table. The bottom gets filled with water to give it weight and allows you to shape it (though never as perfectly as in this picture!) and the top is supported by the umbrella.
http://www.nicamaka.net/images/UmbrellaNet-screen2.jpg
We haven't had much rain, so not many mosquitos, but the other flies are a pest. I'm not sure exactly what they are -- up north I would have called the house flies, except they're mostly outdoors down here.

I seem to be having a hard time with things lately. I am somehow making the love of my life miserable when all I have done is try to make him happy. My weight loss and plans to go back to school to finish my degree has made him insecure with himself. He looks at me and says You are beautiful and smart, once you have your degree and start working you wont need me anymore. How it is that I can work so hard for something and think it is a good thing and wind up making the one person that I love like no other miserable is beyond me.

Hi,
Call it 'mid life crisis', call it the 'male menopause', PB.
If it's any consolation I was a real PITA for a couple of years in my mid 40's (some would say still am!).
I don't know what age your husband is but women get HRT treatment but men don't get testesterone patches (and a good thing too, testesterone being the most dangerous drug on the planet)
All things must pass!

I think he just needs time to adjust.
I've been through the same, but it gets better. It's hard to know, you feel like you are asking too much, while you've done nothing wrong. If he loves you, he'll accept you for whoever you are, given an amount of time of course..
Some do not respond well to change, but they get there eventually. So don't feel bad and take it one step at a time. :grinning:

It is 1/4 mile hike from where we park to where we set up camp. I will be glad to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a few days. LOL! Horse-related. We were on a trail ride, and one of the wranglers (high school kid) drove in the ranch broncs for the rodeo that evening. The sight of those horses galloping over the prairie, manes and tails streaming in the wind, reminded me that you get to be around horses every day. And so I was jealous. :biggrin2:

Hi everyone. Just thought I would stop by to say hello - I know it's been quite some time since I posted in here. Make no mistake, that doesn't mean I've forgotten this place but time is something I have very little of these days :-( but on the other hand, that's a good thing - it just means I'm busy doing other great things hehe.
A brief update from Denmark. Yes, for those who do not know this yet, I've moved back home :-) and may I say, the best thing I've done in years!!
After 3 months of living with my best friend I finally got my own place!! That's nice. I haven't lived by myself for close to 4 years, so it's really good but also a little strange when you're used to having people around all the time. The place I've moved into is just a heartbeat away from my mum and brother and of course... my little nephew - who, by the way will be 2 on Aug. 22nd! Wow, time flies!! And.... they are expecting number two :-) another baby boy (to be named Milo).
I do miss all of you and will try to log on more often at night before bedtime ;-)
Oh... and since I'm here - can I have a cold beer please and a piece of cheese cake lol Odd combination but it's what I'm in the mood for hehe.
Hope all is well with you guys.

Hi Cantina Ka-tet,
I don't know where the casting thread went for Dark Tower. Looking at the art work in Wolves of the Calla, Roland performing the "rice dance" looks exactly like Thomas Gibson (Criminal Minds). Also, Pere Callahan has always been Merlin Olsen (Father Murphy & Aarons Way) in my mind. The art work shows a thin white haired man, but it didn't work for me.

I am covered in bruises from everything from sleeping to cooking, even sitting on the fallen log next to the campfire. But we had a wonderful time. It was nice, no cell phones, computers, or any other distractions. It was good to see my kids actually talking and playing board games together. Hi,
Good Whatever Everyone!!!
Had a very nasty experience on Friday night, I nearly choked on a piece of chicken. It wasn't blocking my airway, so I could breathe but it was stiuck in my throat for about two hours and I was covered in what seemed like gallons of saliva before I finally managed to force my hand down my throat far enough to dislodge it. My daughter and her fiance were out at the time (wouldn't you know it?) so I had visions of writing out a sign (couldn't speak) for the next door neighbour to call the emergency services - deeply unpleasant!
It did strike me as highly ironic, that having survived this long, that I might be taken down by a bit of micro-waved chicken from a TV dinner.
However, all well now, and I hope everyone had a great weekend and a good week in prospect.

John, that experience of yours left me speechless. Wow! It's really good you're with us, but I imagine how HORRIBLE must have been. I love fish, but sometimes I'm reluctant to eat it because of the bones. Of course we all remove the bones before cooking the fish, but if a tiny one managed to remain, God knows I'm the one who will get it on the dish. :eyebrow: Choking seems to be one of my greatest fears, so I can only feel your anguish and be thankful that the b*stard chicken piece couldn't take you. Yep, it seems something coming from Uncle Steve's mind, indeed... :eek2:
Nice to hear about your camping weekend, Poisonbat. I'm glad you had such a nice time, and that the kids could experience old times fun when there were no internet, no video games, no text messages, etc etc. I did enjoy my childhood as a Tomboy girl. Bruises, cuts, even burning hair (thanks bro :glare:), but God, we had some good times with all the friends on the neighborhood. I still love climbing trees even though haven't done that in a long time.
Nice to have also our dear Maryann from Spideyland on da house.
So good week start for everybody. I'll join in the cantina later. It's too shiny and full of flowers outside. Spring is in the air... See you!

Fellows, just a few words to say tomorrow I'll have surgery served at noon. It shouldn't be difficult, but full anaesthesia gives me the creeps. Will appreciate any good thoughts tomorrow coming my way, especially coming out well from anaesthesia and that the biopsy result turn out good, as it seems to be. If everything goes well, I should be home tomorrow night. So hope to post on Wednesday: I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!
My best to you all for tomorrow! If I don't come back, it was a pleasure knowing ya'll, guys (that's fear speaking). :wink2:
(((((Ri))))) Keeping you in my prayers for a quick recovery and a good biopsy result.

Hey all!
Seems like I've missed a lot while I was away! Goodness, I guess that's what I get for going out and getting more of a life than I previously had, eh? :biggrin2:
So I guess I'll just keep eyes and ears open for now and hang out on the beanbags for a while.......had a fabulous day, but even the best of days can be ended with a hot cup of tea and a good book, yes?

Good morning folks, hope you all have a fantabulous day. Hope all goes well for you Ri.
Football practice with the kids last night (I'm coaching), I ran a throw and catch station and threw about 250 passes down field. Can someone hand me an iced tea and an Ice Pack while I go look for an open bean bag? :cool2:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, to every one of you guys, for your sweet messages, prayers, good thoughts and vibes. I'm sorry I cannot thank every post, but it seems my account has any problem, so I'm being miserably unpolite/impolite these days. :wink2:
To make the story short, for those who haven't been PMed, I have the most embarrasing day ever. I was kicked out of the clinic. Not in that terms per se, but the health insurance refused to pay for my surgery there.
So I was there, with my surgery gown on, IV fluids on board, all set up and ready to ge carried away to the big knife, and then came the administrative lady to give me the bad news. And I was about to be cut open!!! Gaby went to the insurance office to "nicely discuss" with them. So I asked to get everything removed and got home. Nurses were so kind and everybody was speechless. I was sooooo embarrassed...
Doctor called me a while ago to tell me to calm down, that he will operate me next Tuesday at the local hospital. I feel so tired and weird... so I'm calling the day off.
Thank you guys once again for all the support, good thoughts, prayers and nice words!!! That's the only thing that is cheering me up tonight.

Hey guys! (and gals, lol)
Had a fantabulous day today, went to Lake Tahoe with my husband and watched the sunset! It was gorgeous!
Oh, and for the reptile day there's a new addition; his name is Elyas, and he's a Bearded Dragon.....he's real cute and a big eater! Hmm.....I need to get some pics of him up....

Hi,
Good whatever everyone !!!
Is it just my imagination or do there seem to be a lot of threads started recently about eternally contentious and divisive subjects, has anyone else noticed it?
(((((All in need or not)))))
Large Irish coffee please.
Long days and pleasant nights

JD, I thought I was the only one who noticed the recent crop of threads. The global picture has never been quite like this before--everyone literally want to go nuclear. But the catalyst IMO is Mr. Obama. He is making hash of the world monetary system in his maniac effort to make everything level (which is Marxist). I think "we Texans" might withdraw from the union after all.

Of course you can bring your parakeets in, StoryTeller. Just keep them safe from the other critters!
Yes, John D, some of the threads are real bummers. Can I use that word? Bummers?
Kim, let's form a healing circle for Ri!

They delivered several bales early this morning. Critters appear very happy. And the world is very colorful:wink2:
